Hey everyone! Just had a quick question, does anyone else feel like Cauldron Elemental might be underrated? The applications I see are almost a little scary when you throw in Frost Lich Jaina and tons of elemental synergy in classes like Shaman, etc. Do you think this card will be better than even the pro streamers are saying? :-) Discuss!

-It's better to have something you don't need, than to need something you don't have
Too much mana and you would need a board. Not sure it's worth a deck spot, but getting it off of Servant of Kalimos or Earthen Might is good. And also if you can cheat out Cauldron Elemental. But I don't think that'll be happening.
A minion with an aura that buffs a specific tribe is not good, but this card is a new level of bad in terms of tribe buffing
I'd disagree, while this tribe buffing card is pretty bad, mostly due to it's high cost, cards like Southsea Captain are really good when there's synergy for a tribe.
Even if it buffed all minions and not just elementals, I'm not sure the effect is playable at 8 mana. It's simply hard for any deck to rely on having a board on turn 8.
I know what you all mean, and at first glance I did the same thing, but even if JUST for Frost Lich Jaina, a lot of times she can start accumulating 1 or 2 Water Elementals, Baron Geddon, the list goes on. Each Water Elemental is now a 5/6 with Lifesteal? Bonkers! I know it's expensive, but if you're playing Jaina then you plan on the long game anyway. I agree it'd be better to Discover, etc., but still I think it might find a place in a more minion based Elemental Mage with Frost Lich Jaina and Book of Specters.

if this was 2-4 mana cheaper it would be better. BUT its not compared to other lords which drop down way sooner. I can see this a possible discover card off of servant of Kalimos but its just way too slow and late.

Once you've played Jaina it's very likely you've already stabilized though and your opponent only wins by not giving you targets to create more Water Elementals. How does Cauldron Elemental help you in that case?

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
I mostly agree with people here regarding the card, but the one thing that I think isn't being taken into consideration is that mage can create a ton of Flame Elementals which are pretty pointless as most of the time outside of pally matchups they just deal 1 damage to a big threat and then die. Having a board of four of them down means next to nothing in terms of pressure. But with Cauldron, they can actually cause some huge damage. Stormwind and other buffers only provide 1 damage, which on small bodies like these, isn't really impactful. I don't think this will necessarily be a great card, but to compare it to other buffers without thinking about the elementals this could hit is perhaps not the best approach to assessing it. I feel like this card could justify adding a bunch of Flame Elemental generators to a mage deck while not making them just useless pings.
Elemental shaman probably would never run this though as Bloodlust is a better tool due to shamans wanting to flood with more than just elementals.

That’ll be the 3 Mana cost... This card is beyond awful.

Well that's an exception
What about Murloc Warleader? They had to nerf it and it still sees play haha.
But yes, Cauldron Elemental is still bad because of how expensive it is. Could be used as a one-of as a finisher, but even then, just throw burn into your deck.
