I greet you!

I'm here again and try to use Gul'dan in these sad days where he is by far the weakest hero in the Hearthstone universe. Thanks to the new "hurt yourself" mechanic with the new spells a new deck was born and it is extremely fun. But could it be effective enough? We'll see fellas, we'll see...

If you are intrested in a much deeper guide, then just give me an upvote! :)

Description

Introduction (The current meta)

There are lots of complaining voice about the current state of Warlock in this meta and I'm one of them. Really can't understand how can be a class so unplayable as Gul'dan now. If we look back in the (near) past we can see that there are 1 or 2 totally weak hero after every expansion. In the Gadgetzan meta we had seen Hunters and Paladins in dead position and now Warlock is the weakest spot. These fails are really hurting the "player experience" in my opinion, But Blizzard doesn't give a sh*t about it, they will release the next expansion and probably there will also be an another unplayable class.
The devs are pushing two archetype for Warlock: discard and hurt yourself, but they don't support these enough.
(If you are interested, here is a topic about Gul'dan's spot: Link)

Explanation

But this is a deck description, "C'mon!! Talk 'bout the deck b*tch!". Yeah, let's see!
With the new HP eating spell Bloodbloom a new archetype seems to be borning, a "hurt yourself" or "suicide" Warlock. Pay with health instead of mana is a really powerful ability and I hope it will get some supporting cards in the near future. In this stage of the game we already have some good spells to use with Bloodblooms. For example:

In the last point you can add some cards like Chittering Tunneler, Kabal Courier or Kabal Chemist. But pay with health is a risky action. I know it seems crazy and suicidal to pay with HP for DOOM! but in some situations clearing the board and drawing some cards are much better than any other play. But for our safety we have Violet Illusionist who can help us to be protected. (A little...)

Why Bloodbloom + DOOM! combo?! Why 2x DOOM!?

After some question about this I think that it needs some discussion. First of all in my opinion 2x DOOM! aren't too much. Useful board clears, and nice toys for Atiesh. Somebody replaced one of them with Twisting Nether, but card draw could be really important.
When you cast the combo it is a 2 mana full clear and  you gonna draw a plenty of cards usually. You can bring the tempo back with a much larger variety in your hand. You can see this action as 5 Life Tap for 2 mana in an avarage situatuon. Huge value...

So if we already using spells we can add our two well known friends: Yogg-Saron, Hope's End and Medivh, the Guardian. Thanks to Atiesh we can produce huge tempo swings with the mentioned spells. You can feed Yogg with 15 spells overall. It is worths a place in the deck because it could be an out-of-jail card. I suggest to use it only when you are in bad spot. Beside these have a two bladed weapon in the deck, Alexstrasza could be offensive and defensive too adapted (lul) to the current situation.

WARNING: this deck is relatively hard to pilot and Warlock is the weakest class right now. So be careful if you want to use this deck to climb the ladder fast enough. It probably won't happen.

Bane of Doom (Tier table and stats)

Let's see my categories below. These numbers shows the distribution of Demon cards, so it seems that running Bane of Dooms is probably a good idea.

Actual stats from my games

First of all I've casted Bane of Doom 100 times for this data.

  • Bullshit: 29%
  • OK: 23%
  • Go(o)d: 48%

It seems that the "Bullshit" and the "OK" caterogies are in reverse in practice and believe me, it is very conspicuous when you play. But about the numbers we can say that ~50% of the time you will get something extremely good.

Mulligan, Matchups

It is really hard to set up an "always keep" segment because every matchup needs different starting hand. But if you face aggro decks then you should keep Doomsayer, Mistress of Mixtures, and Hellfire. Against control/midrange: Bloodbloom (if you have any big spell with it), looking for Dirty Rat + Corrupting Mist/Doomsayer, Kabal Courier.

Gameplay video

Haven't played standard in this month but I've done some games in stream so you can check a ~1 hour long video on this  link here: Un'goro Yogglock Gameplay

Tech choices / Card substitutions

  • Because of the popularity of Mage (and Paladin) decks Eater of Secrets could help to win some matches.
  • Dirty Rat is still doing a good job against control/combo decks like Taunt Warrior and Quest Rogue. It is really effective with Corrupting Mist.
