Greeetings, my name is Bond, GamesBond. A seasoned (and exclusive!) Handlock player of recently acquired legendary status! I love and play Handlock for its sheer power and deep tactics.
1. The Goal:
This is a variation on Handlock that will attempt to counter the agressive format which is likely the new "Mech-Meta" when Goblins vs Gnomes is released, while also being even more effective against Midrange and Control decks. When the hype-dust settles, we look to our old favourites and make them better.
2. The Concept (Oh sweet tweaks!):
- The concept is to get more healing, something the Warlock class has always struggled with. How do we accomplish this? Antique Healbot heals for 8, almost triple that of Earthen Ring Farseer. No longer will we narrowly perish to that last Kill Command or Soulfire!
- "However, Earthen Ring Farseer also heals my minions!" True, and this is where Recombobulator comes in. It will turn damaged Molten Giants into fresh ones and damaged Mountain Giants into either healthy ones, or Clockwork Giants.
- Thirdly, we've switched out Soulfire for Darkbomb. The new mana cost of Soulfire makes the random card discard extra painful for Handlock players (even though we enjoy the occasional pain and torment!)
- Four. A new addition has been made! We have replaced Ancient Watcher with Ogre Brute. A solid turn 3 play that can sometimes attack past taunts. He does not require activation by silence, and makes for a great Shadowflame target at 4 attack! (Thanks to Xaiur, a most wise Warlock!)
Have fun, and Inferno!!
Please leave a comment and hit that button! (It seems small yet it helps)
Recombobulator card writeup! (Pray to RNGesus!)
|5 mana target| Antique Healbot or damaged Sludge Belcher
- Best case! Earth Elemental, Doomguard, Floating Watcher, or a brand new Sludge Belcher.
- Worst case! Stormpike Commando, Bolvar Fordragon, Starving Buzzard.
|4 mana target| Defender of Argus or damaged Twilight Drake
- Best case! Mechanical Yeti, Water Elemental, Pit Lord.
- Worst case! Gnomish Inventor, Twilight Drake, Dragonling Mechanic.
|12 mana target| Damaged Mountain Giant
- Two options, all good! Clockwork Giant, fresh Mountain Giant.
|20 mana target| Damaged Molten Giant
- Automatic reset to full health! Molten Giant.
|6 mana target| As per popular request, Inferno!
- Best case! Cairne Bloodhoof, Sylvanas Windrunner (give her the Shadowflames!), Piloted Sky Golem, Sunwalker.
- Worst case! Kidnapper, Mogor the Ogre (But wait... isn't that hilarious?), Priestess of Elune.
Update, December 7th: Trump emailed me that he liked the idea :D
Then, in action !
Update, December 11th: LiquidSavjs getting a clutch Legend 6 win with a slightly conservative version of the deck !
I took out the ogre brutes and added in Loatheb and sylvanas. Found that brutes don't do anything except sit there as shadowflame targets.
What about Mad Scientists?
Gotta agree with this. I cut one sunfury and one argus as opposed to both argus. put in second siphon and actually a second hellfire. I run into heavy aggro about 80% of the time and having hellfire resets their board most of the time.
Lol at ogre brute bypassing taunts with ability. Highly amusing.
why is there no sylvanas?
Remove Faceless if Sylvanas is a personal preference.
Can you write muligan or maybe class matchup??? PLS
Not a fan of Ogre Brute, I'd rather have the Ancient Watchers. Coin Watcher -> Owl is great, Also dropped a Mortal Coil for a second Hellfire as a meta call.
Wow, what a difference it made to take out the Watchers and put in the Ogres, they pretty much serve the same purpose but do a LOT more work. I feel that the watchers just never seem to be a very great play early unless you mull a owl as well. Most of the time Watchers just sit dead in the hand because you want minions that you can use. Immediately saw better results with the ogres. I did take out 1 recombo because I felt that running 2 was a bit too slow, replaced with the bomb lobber and it's been working very well. Currently Rank 4, on my way to legendary.
What ranks would you consider playing this type of deck in? I'm coming off hiatus and would like to climb ladder. Thanks!
Games Bond Can you write calss matchup of even mulligan
What is a suitable replacement for Sludge Belcher?
Sludge Belcher.
So I have to farm 1400 gold to get one card because I don't have Naxx? Is Sludge Belcher core to this deck?
The closest thing you'll get without Naxx is Sunwalker, but she's really not the same.
You can find another card with taunt to plug in, but Sludge is unique. You can substitute something in for it, but there's no replacing it.
i like the ogres more than the watchers for sure. they just acomplish more and the 1 extra mana cost for the shadowflame combo has never hurt me before. i think the recombobs can be subbed out tbh for tech cards like ooze, harison, ragnaros, big game etc. i feel like they dont acomlish quite enough in handlock
I was thinking the same thing, you can heal giants with earthen farseer and heal yourself with the Antiques.
Being a Handlock deck where you are going to take damage is there any way to fit floating watchers in? I think they are a good fit with handlock and they can make great shadowflames or sponges for removal.
I like the changes. Only cards I had to swap out was jaraxxas (using leeroy, might switch to Rag) and 1x recom....whatever its called since I didn't want to spend 400 dust on a second one (using 2nd faceless instead)
If you have trouble with hunters, i found having 2x boars in the deck helped with triggering secrets :)
