Just killed a warrior on turn 6 from 33 health with nothing but a Necrium Blade on board
Edit: thanks for the upvotes. Here's a small description:
The deck's idea is to assemble the whole combo through a single Elven Minstrel. That happens 100% of the time when you do not play the Cavern Shinyfinder, however i have found that card to add consistency rather than lower it.
The way you actually win is by having a 1 charge Necrium Blade equipped, then playing Kobold Illusionist -> attack > Backstab (or Razorpetal) the Illusionist and then burn the opponent. That's 4 mana for 2 copies of Malygos. Shadowsteps only help prepare a 2 mana Illusionist, leading to an even cheaper setup, that can allow us to burn even a high armor opponent. They are however not highly important and are probably the first cards to replace.
Cards like Bloodmage Thalnos, Vilespine Slayer or some taunts would help keep us alive, but would lead to us needing more time and more draw. Personally, i have not found that version of the deck as interesting or effective.
Edit #2: i've replaced the two Shadowsteps for one Sudden Betrayal and one Necrium Vial, as a test. The first is aimed at helping against aggro and the second against high armor decks (and slow draws).
As for Mulligan choices: Always keep one Elven Minstrel, as he gets us the full combo. Mulligan aggressively for him.
If you are certain the opponent is playing aggro, you can keep effective removal like Backstab or Sap. If you are certain they are slow, keep Preparation and Razorpetal Volley, as they speed things up for you.
Update #3:
I replaced the Shinyfinder with a second Sudden Betrayal, partially because the secret was performing well, partially because of a rage moment on a shinyfinder topdeck on the wrong turn.
I am personally getting close to a 50% winrate against zoo, which should be a very bad matchup. Don't play like a typical control deck. When the pressure is not too high, try to ignore it and setup your combo. You have to win first, not outlast them.
Thank everyone for the enormous feedback. This is something i never expected. I hope you keep having fun!
Final Edit:
I do not have the time to refine this deck as much as I would like. However as many of you have found, tuning it is not too hard, because there are a few simple guidelines to follow.
1. You should be very careful about adding more minions. Every one reduces the effectiveness of Elven Minstrel by a lot, and that card is the soul of the deck.
2. Mulligan almost everything for Elven Minstrel and go for the combo as soon as possible. If your opponent doesn't have lethal on board and you can set up the OtK, go for it. Don't play this as control because the rogue class does not have the tools for that.
3. Don't give up if your opponent is gaining a lot of armour. If you find the right spells you can burn through obscene amounts of it, as demonstrated in the videos.
And an important clarification. The deck has a somewhat weird approach to it. Contrary to what most players are used to, the aim is not to have a fair chance to win every game. Instead the deck aims at being extremely favoured when drawing properly, while accepting that there will be a few games you just concede. It is in a sense a coinflip deck, except the odds depend on the metagame, rather than always being 50-50.
Updated for Rastakhan: 2 Walk the Planks and one Cavern Shinyfinder in the place of two secrets and an Assassinate.
The deck is now much smoother and can actually be used for ranking up consistently.
Here's a video of the deck by Kiwiinbacon.
And here is the second video!
Interesting, thanks :)
Evasion is indeed interesting because it is almost one free turn to get the combo. It is maybe more polyvalent.
I guess that Valeera the Hollow is here to get one more free turn. In my own experience it is not so good for you when the game lasts too long because you have to cast spell to survive, and I've the feeling this card is a bit late... But why not, this is a good card and it can double your bursts, so maybe it is a good idea.
Regarding Roll the Bones I like the idea, since the weakness of the deck is drawing the combo. Yes, drawing a Deathrattle card is unlikely to occur. Indeed, only 3 cards have Deathrattle, and the bonus effect might be useless when the last card was one of the Deathrattle cards! But I think that Roll the Bones must rather been seen as a Shiv, this card is here to fill the deck, and if you draw it, it not so grave because you'll easily draw another card (and even two with Roll the Bones if you are lucky). As a result, having a slightly better draw against one damage, why not.
Finally, I guess that Assassinate has been discarded because it is a bit expensive and not necessarily the best card of the deck. However, I experienced that this removal is sometimes very useful (e.g. against The Lich King).
Roll the Bones can be added to cycle, but it is not comparable to Shiv. Shiv can be part of the kill, it is one more spell that can go face, which are not that many.
I agree :)
I discovered the deck thanks to the video of kiwiinbacon and I was hyped to test this deck few weeks ago. Today I decided to craft Malygos to give a chance to the deck.
So, I was sad after the three first games because I faced 2 odd rogue and one tempo mage, and it was a rape. I even lost against a shaman with some random cards probably a free player, which was even more frustrating. I was quite sad!!!
Then, I decided to re-watch the video of kiwiinbacon and notice a difference. He was running Cavern Shinyfinder and a single Sudden Betrayal. By doing this change, I lost against a tempo mage (but it was close) and won against two Rogue (one was a Pogo-Hopper Rogue).
And I think it is better, let me explain why.
After these few games, here are my feelings.

Weaknesses
Suggestions
Here are the changes I envision to try (maybe irrelevant)
Anyway, thanks a lot for this nice deck :)
It's a stupid and shit deck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My general thought is: I LOVE MALY ROGUE. On the other hand I Just played 6 games and lost 6 in a row. Don't think the deck is bad but you need to be super lucky. In most games you just died till turn 9-10 because of yours passivity/not drawing a minstrel. Probably will make some changes.
My favorite archetype in game, very fun deck thanks, Baldassar! My question is DK. Is it needed in deck?
Usually you will either win or die up to turn 9, so Valeera the Hollow does not add that much to the deck in my experience. This list is meant to aggressively attempt to get the combo as early as possible, not to stall out the game and wait for the pieces to show up.
Definitely a fun deck. Really enjoyed playing it. Damage output from 2x Malygos is often more than enough :-D
I have only 1 copy of Necrium Blade and no Necrium Vial. Didn't want to craft, so instead added Valeera the Hollow, and Cavern Shinyfinder. Works very well, unless they have weapon removal.
Very good deck. Just beat token druid and deathrattle hunt with this deck on turn 8-9. Dozen of fun with this.
Not bad deck, but for now everybody is playing weapon-breaker oozes, so... almost imposible to adjust Necrium Blade Deathrattle
I actually switched one of the Sudden Betrayal for Edwin VanCleef to somewhat hold on to the early phase with aggro decks. Turn 3 with coin and prep(backstab or betrayal etc) can get you 8/8 (game changer) which is still nice way to go about and you can use Vancleef late however you want to use him.
12-6 at Rank 5 or better. People who are having issues with this deck should watch the videos or something.
Thanks for the fun deck, Baldassar!
Sometimes this decks makes me wanna knock my teeth out when I get necrium blade on the bottom of my deck. Think I will add cavern
Bad idea, if u put more minions in this deck, your combo will be too slow. Because u need play all minions from ur hand before use Kobold.
Terrible deck when it comes to consistency :)
Thought i would love this deck but its kind of garbage.
Fun deck, it's a bit of a coin toss deck -- but I keep grabbing the win streaks to make it viable. Unlikely to get you to legend, but dropping The occasional 4x maly is totally worth it. Fun deck.
Great against control decks, but against aggro you sbould be very lucky. I played 50+ games, went from 10 to 9. Great fun deck.
i must say i have 73% winrate now and i like how this deck is build. There are a lot of ways to pull your combo off based on your hand and the hp of opponent. NOT A EASY DECK FOR SURE, but fun to play
i went second, so i coined Elven Minstrel, drawn another one and a Malygos (since Kobold Illusionist was in my hand) and yea, killed druid with 56 hp on turn 10
EDIT: went from rank 16 3/5 to 19 because of 5 odd paladins with awesome start and 6 zoos so fck that.
Its fun
