Well, you can play it on turn 3, and then attack with him and give him stealth again on turn 4 with Master of Disguise.
Besides that synergy, it's a pretty underwhelming card.
Stealth synergy incoming?
Do I smell Stealth-centered decks for Rogue?
Is thief rogue so broken that this card needed to be a counter-tempo play?
If that's how you talk about Xaril when other classes got Herald Volazj, Cho'gall and Anomalus you don't deserve another good rogue legendary.
Good day to you as well :)
(Here is a tip for a good day, put Xaril in your rogue deck, you'll have a wonderful time. You can put in Toshley too but I wouldn't recommend it as there is a difference between 4 and 6 mana, and there is a difference between toxins and spare parts.)
Xaril isn't that good. 4 mana 3/2 is terrible stats and the toxins aren't that gamebreaking.
First off, I will announce a bias in that burgle rogue is the most fun deck out there imo.
With that said and accounted for, I don't see why there is quite so much disappointment around this card. I agree it doesn't look spectacular, but if you compare it to comparable existing cards (namely Mana Tide Totem and Acolyte of Pain, both of which see plenty of play) then it achieves the same minimum of drawing 1 card, gains an attack point or 2, and has stealth so that, unlike the others, you get to choose to interact with it the next turn, maybe by giving it stealth again.
Sure a burgle isn't usually valued quite as much as a simple 'draw a card', but given the plus points and Ethereal Peddler it looks to be a genuinely good card
Good point, but mana tide totem works either because it is behind a big taunt or because a deck is so aggressive that killing it instead of something that deals damage will lose you the game. I havn't seen rogue do either of those things in a while, and mana tide didn't see play for a long time because shaman couldn't pull of either of those things either.
Decks that play acolyte of pain can draw two cards in pretty much any deck that plays it because of the cards that combo with it. The only combo cards for this one are conceal and master of disguise, and I don't know if those are cards you want for this particular deck.
So maybe this will be playable in not-just-for-fun decks, but it actually would surprise me if it did. My hope is on the fact that this is yet another card with the words "when this minion attacks," telling me there might be some mechanics that interact with that.
You are right. And direct comparisons are difficult.
Sadly it is often not enough just to be 'good' in competitive constructed but it should still do decent work for more casual players without being (really any) effort to make work.
Nonetheless, the flavour is amazing (he really is the thief in the shadows) and I can't wait to burgle even more stuff with him.
(‘ ▽` ) 'Member when Rogue identity had to do with weapons?
'membering aside, this card follows the Burgle Rogue thematic that has been pushed to reshape the class identity. My main complain is that said identity hasn't taken a good deck of its own, and this card doesn't seem to make it. Not to mention that what was left of the class identity (Miracle Rogue engine) is alive thanks to a soon to be gone card: Tomb Pillager . Now, with the new faction system there could be some surprises that could help push an Ethereal Peddler deck, some sorth of Lotus-Thief-Tempo Rogue. So far the Lotus Agents drew the short straw, as the 3 classes already run Azure Drake . Not to mention a Thief-Tempo Rogue would like to play Ethereal Peddler on 5, but we could still get some good surprises from the remaining cards. If anything, if this expansion fails and there are complains on Rogue starting the next rotation, they will not be shy to push Burgle Rogue as they did with Discard Lock (please blizzard don't do this).
I've been playing peddler for a while now, and it doesnt seem like a tempo deck. Your best hopes are swashburglar/huckster/burgle, thats 3/3 worth of stats in three turns. Even with this new 2/3 played on curve you are probably behind statwise, and will need your extra cards to catch back up in the early midgame. You try and push with those extra cards in turns 7-12, because past that the impact of your offclass cards is usually too low compared to efficient legendaries from control decks, even if you manage to have twice the cards.
should be 2 mana
for 2 mana it would be broken...
2 mana whiout stealth probobly to bad to be played, maybe in some decks
IMO it should have 4 health.
At least it has stealth, which is a Rogue mechanic. So it makes sense to be a Rogue legendary (flavor wise) and it's not like Herald Volazj, which had absolutely no connection to Priest. So right now, all of Rogue legendaries represent one of the class's mechanics, which are combo, stealth, return to hand, coin generation, and taking cards from opponents class:
Edwin VanCleef (Combo)
Trade Prince (Coin generation, taking cards from opponent's class)
Anubarak (Return to hand)
Xaril (gives small spells to activate Combo. Some of the spells have Stealth and Return to hand)
Shakru (Stealth, taking cards from opponent's class)
So it's a cool card even though it's weak.
Herald volazj does has a connection with priest they are both flashy when they get what they need but just garbage the rest of the time
Worst Rogue legendary.
