imo all priest control decks should be running these things

    lyra

    elise

    medivh

    2 shadow visions

    2 free from amber

you can fill in anything else, but in order to get maximum value, you should be playing those cards for heavy control decks

Basically it LOL. You can then add supplementary cards for any shell that you want. Midrange, Dragons, N'Zoth, or even C'Thun. Then make tech choices accordingly (Priest of the Feast if too much Mage at your rank). At the end of the day, still loses to Rogue almost 100% of the time, so its not the best deck to grind legend with.

    Quote from suhailabtu >>

I have currently constructed a silence priest and im not happy with the results. So I have a few questions. Aside from the core cards, Ancient WatcherHumongous RazorleafSunfury Protector, Inner Fire and HP buffs, silences ETC, should I be running removals like pain and death in this deck?

    unicorn
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (18) Ability (12)
    Loading Collection

Play Faceless Shambler over manipulator. Curves out better with Razorleaf and Watcher, cheaper. Onxy Bishop not necessary; board presence is already strong enough. One copy of Bittertide Hydra is fine, a bit slow but its alright for an additional threat that other decks may have difficulty abusing. Consider running two copies of Shadow Word: Pain and a single copy of Potion of Madness. Finding two spots for Priest of the Feast is crucial as well. Idea behind this deck is building a wall. Against aggro, multiple taunts will win you the game outright, and control will not have enough removal to deal with recurrent threats. You do need the anti-aggro tools along with Priest of the Feast, as some decks can pubstomp you within the first two-three turns; it's crucial that you have answers for the brutal early game that accompanies many current decks in the meta.

posted a message on Pirate Warrior still the best deck?

The deck feels like a highroll deck as of late. Opening Golakka Crawler in the mirror or against Druid/Rogue, or having it opened against you, can win or lose the game on its own. Just too much tempo and swing factor for a fairly statlined card. Also has decent synergy in Hunter. The meta has also switched from being Rogue centric to being Paladin centric, meaning that face/aggressive decks become stifled when matched against Paladin's superior board presence and burst healing potential. Overall, the deck is still really strong and its existence is quite important to keep Rogue in check.

posted a message on Malygos in Control Priest?

Malygos is generally strong in decks with cheap spells that can be used for damage. While Priest has a few of those, it's pretty lofty to try and build a deck around the idea that you can finish your opponent off using a bunch of randomly generated spells from Lyra. However, there is an argument for creating a Lyra variant with a dragon shell that also plays Malygos. Maybe you play double Holy Smite as well? Possibly a Prophet Velen inclusion? The amazing thing about the deck is that there are so many different ways to try and play the deck. Future experimentation will hold key if Priest will sink or swim in Un'Goro.

posted a message on Awaken the Makers turned out to be crap

Well, look at the meta. Rogue, Midrange Paladin, Pirate Warrior. A value-oriented late game Priest that focuses on raising its total health but can only do so past turn 9-10, that's just not a deck that can flourish in a meta like this one. Decks that have too much tempo overpower it. Not to mention that all types of Rogue have just always been better than Priest. However, this is only the case in the standard ladder. N'Zoth Priest in wild is extremely powerful. Abuses the broken deathrattles of Naxx and GvG. When Blizzard finally supports the format like it actually exists in the game, then the quest may actually see play. Doesn't mean its a bad card.

posted a message on How to beat taunt warrior with mid range hunter?
    Quote from Hajima >>

Sorry, I'm new; does 'trying to tech' mean using spells or something?

I made my deck if anyone wants to offer criticism...

    http://www.hearthpwn.com/deckbuilder/hunter#8:2;162:2;194:1;225:2;239:1;279:2;317:2;363:1;488:2;500:2;630:1;33146:1;42020:2;49618:1;49681:1;49745:2;55453:1;55500:2;55528:2;

Infest and Piranha Launcher are just bad. Your deck isn't a value deck; it's meant to SMOrc, generally. I understand that Midrange decks are meant to be able to generate a small amount of value, but Hunter is more towards the opposite end of the spectrum.

I also agree that you have to get a bit fortunate with Mid Hunter in order to win the taunt warrior matchup. There isn't too much you can do to change that, unfortunately. Ironbeak Owl just isn't a strong tempo play due to its statline. If you really want to go full potato, then play a N'Zoth list. Your other matchups will become significantly worse, but if you aim just to beat taunt warrior, then take the full value line instead.

To answer your question, tech cards are usually a few cards that help with specific matchups. Golakka Crawler is one such card. In the aggro shaman metagame of last expansion, Acidic Swamp Ooze was a very solid tech card for many decks with a weak  two-drop slot. I see that you have tech cards included to beat Mage, which is fine as well. Personally, you may just have to bite the bullet and play the hand you're dealt. Once you get the dust, switching to Rogue might be a better idea.

I started hearthstone after gadgetzan and i want to know what i should use my gold on. Should i buy adventures, or packs. And which pack should i buy? Classic, gadgetzan old gods and ungoro

Depends on what deck you want to climb with. Few adventures actually yield cards that are absolute staples;  for the most part they can be replaced. If you're good at it, Arena can be profitable. However, you'll have difficulty making back your gold for a while. Grinding ladder only yields 100 gold a day, but you can do it easily with a consistent deck. If you don't mind aggressive decks, Pirate Warrior and Midrange Hunter are good choices.

Personally, I would play both ladder and arena. Even if you're bad, arena will improve your technical play as well as your ability to evaluate cards. It is an underrated format that frustrates many, but becoming well-versed in arena should allow you to flourish in constructed just as well.

posted a message on Looking for legen tier quest mage advice!

You just answered your question for yourself. There are limits as to what certain decks can accomplish. Relying on a strategy that is solely based on your understated minions giving you random spells is the definition of inconsistency. Drawing through your entire deck can be quite difficult as well. I don't know how you got so far with playing that deck, since the meta report stated that the deck only has a 37% winrate at ranks 1-5. Freeze Mage is good because it has a solid strategy that is only weak to hyper aggression or tech decisions; few decks actually hard counter Freeze Mage. If you're actually good at playing Casino Mage, then you should be able to hit legend easily with no problem.

posted a message on Relatively new player needing deck help...

Unfortunately, Freeze Mage appears to be your best bet. I only say unfortunately because its a very difficult deck to play; not intuitive or easy at all. In fact, many games you will be one turn off with being able to lethal your opponent. But, if you can learn to play the deck effectively, then you should be able to climb quite quickly, as it is one of the stronger strategies in the game when played flawlessly.

Midrange Paladin is pretty solid; some lists don't even play Tirion Fordring. If you're not the biggest fan of Paladin (like me), Midrange Hunter or Aggro Druid can get you there as well.

From my own experience, I thought that the Tempo Storm list actually made sense. Doing my initial climb 10 days ago, I pretty much only encountered Miracle and Quest Rogues, less Taunt Warrior and almost no Pirate.  I do agree that Paladin was a sleeper hit and that no one predicted Midrange Paladin to be shaping the meta in any way, much less Paladin as a class. Besides one class being underrated by a group of top 200 legend players, the reports are quite similar. The one thing to remember here is that, Tempo Storm is always based on opinion. They have commonly made mistakes regarding meta calls, and the tier list has always had a few questions surrounding it. That being said, everyone knows that's exactly what the website is. No one is saying to take either site as gospel. But you shouldn't shit on a site just because you don't like Reynad. His stream personality may be a bit polarizing, but he makes solid points quite often, and he is a voice I would rather the community have than be without. I think you take both lists with a grain of salt, and keep spam-queuing those Pirate Warrior games.

Do you know what is bad for the game?

Everyone copying decks from each other.

0 originality, stale and boring gameplay seeing the same decks after decks.

Except for when that's not true? Decks are changed all the time. Netdecking is frequently punished due to an unstable meta. Pro players bounce ideas off each other all the time. Netdecking is a great tool for learning the game and speeds up the knowledge clock when learning a deck for the first time.

posted a message on Miracle Control Priest

I've tried playing it before, but the Cabal Shadow Priest/Shadow Word: Horror/Pint-Sized Potion is just too situational to be effective for more refined decks. Yes, sometimes the combo blows out midrange decks, but you can already do that withAuchenai Soulpriest+ Circle of Healing. Too situational for an already situational archetype. I like the Burgly Bully though. Decent minion stat-wise and has synergy with Lyra. Second Acolyte of Pain instead of Injured Blademaster? You're not running the Inner Fire engine so having high health minions isn't as relevant. Against most decks, all you need is a hand full of reactive cards to win the game anyway. Check out Brian Kibler's twitter for the deck that he's been playing both on stream and in his youtube highlights. Functions similar to this, but has a more minion based approach. Link is below.

posted a message on Got Awaken the masters....

Quest/N'Zoth/Deathrattle Priest is pretty strong in Wild and always has been since the split of the Wild/Standard format. However, the recovery and board control tools simply do not exist in standard for Priest at the moment; the deck works a bit better as a tempo deck which uses cheap spells to maintain health total and board control.

If you have the itch to play the deck, then keep the card. But it is far less competitive than other archetypes of Priest and won't allow you to climb as consistently as you would hope to.

Pick a deck that you understand and can perform with. In some cases, that might not even be the best deck. Many streamers climb with an archetype they're comfortable with. AsmodaiTV (CosplayGrill) is pretty known for climbing with non-aggro decks, despite those being some of the best meta decks. Watching streams will give you a good idea of how to play certain archetypes. Even aggro takes some nuance to it, despite what the community would make you believe.
