I think this exp doesn't bring that kind of überminion. There are some nice additions, such as Nexus-Champion Saraad or Chillmaw (second one may be a bit overhyped). Justicar Trueheart looked great, but the more I think about it, the less I like her, has really bad/strange stats for such a slow drop. IMO none of them are that over the top/metabreakers such as the one you mentioned. But that's just my opinion and I may be wrong :3
Finally, with all cards revealed, I think I'm going for something like this. Depending on metagame, maybe you could cut one Fiery War Axe or one Sparring Partner and add whatever you'd consider a better tech card (btw, only running Cruel Taskmaster x1 with this setup). Same with Loatheb and 6 mana drops. You may consider The Black Knight for some nasty combos with Sparring Partner (to destroy enemy minions), but I'm not sold on that, and he's a very bad target for Varian. Will have to test Kel'Thuzad too, he may stay or he may go for another big drop. I think the 8 mana slot is about personal preference and some games one drop would be better, sometimes another...
As a big fan of obnoxious turtling strategies and forcing late game plays (I'd say in every kind of game), I think I'll try to go for a removal/taunt/reactive version (more or less the last deck I posted) and see what happens with that. Charge style may be good, will have to try too, my problem is that I like to use as many legendaries as I can (showing-off over 9000, I admit) while being a viable deck, and I think a taunt version fits better with that philosophy.
I made some swaps and my deck looks like this now. Removed Shieldmaiden for Sunwalker (you lose Shield Slam power, but they are stickier and better value with Varian), and also cut Justicar Trueheart out, cause as much as I like her for Control Warrior, I think she doesn't fit that well in a Varian Warrior one (will experiment with 6 mana drops anyway, cause I'm not sure). Also Dr. Boom for Troggzor the Earthinator. If there's a lot of aggro, this deck may be too slow and need tweaks.
Don't know exactly how it works in MTG, but I'd love to see a 2vs2 mode to play with friends, even if there's not a ranked mode, just a normal queue for fun. Can't say how would it work in terms of player turns, minions on board, interaction with allied minions, and other gameplay rules/stuff (but I'm quite sure there are already posts with ideas about this). There would be some broken combos, and in this connection I think they shouldn't balance around 2vs2 (could break whole game), just keep it as a solid fun mode and let players do their crazy shit there. Or maybe just ban certain cards for this mode if they are out of control/anti-fun.
Oh, and you can't forget about mobile version, UI may be hard to implement in a small screen for a 2vs2 mode.
This is waay over the top. Varian would currently fit in any control warrior, as simple as that.
Well, I think you should try to modify current control decks in order to optimize synergy with Varian's battlecry: cut some battlecry minions for deathrattle/text effect ones, so you can abuse those free summons. In my opinion, the main thing is swapping Alexstrasza's win condition for Varian, which is "more RNG based", but I think it may be consistent too (sometimes better, sometimes worse, but decent anyway... worst scenario it's 7/7 minion + 3 draw for 10 mana in only one card, which is actually nice).
Like those ideas too, going for more taunts may be nice, but dunno if we can cut both Shieldmaiden for Sunwalker (they are better targets for Varian, that's for sure, but Maidens enable great combos with Shield Slam, so I'm not sure about that... D:). Bash is another interesting card for me, don't know if I could cut one Taskmaster to run Bash x2. I think it's nice removal for early, and you can throw it at your enemy face as a finisher too, but you lose many Taskmasters synergies... sigh :'D. Definitely gonna have to test some stuff.
Nice! Whirlwind was one of my not so sure/tech picks, so I'll experiment with that slot. Would like to run Owl x1 to have some silence tools, but jeez it's getting fucking hard to fit everything in these decks :_______(
Hi there. As a control warrior player, I'm quite excited about our new class legendary Varian Wrynn. Not so confident about him being that überstrong (could be), but want to try him for sure. I modified some late game picks of my current control warrior deck in order to attempt to optimize Varian's battlecry outcomes (for example, Alexstrasza for Ysera, Geddon for Ragnaros, etc.). I also cut out Shieldmaiden x1 to include Justicar Trueheart, I know it may not be the right choice, and both aren't really good with Varian's battlecry, but still want to try that card (anyway, I'd like to hear opinions about Trueheart, do you think she'll be decent in this kind of deck?). And I love Sylvanas and Thaurissan, so I can't remove any of those (plus imo they are good targets for Varian). What do you think about this deck? Any obvious change I may not see? Thanks in advance and apologies for my English ^^
If the original poster is reading this, i didn't really mean "crap" but i was mad due to the fact that i was so pumped for the cards that they've made to be added to the game whilst i found out that they wouldn't after spending 2 hours on it.
And to rykon, if this is the rudest comment that you've seen in this forum then you have to buy yourself some glasses mate :)
It's funny cause you need to buy some glasses too, so you can read that Fan Creations before you "waste" 2 hours of your exciting life! lulz
To the OP, nice work mate, I enjoy this kind of stuff ^^
I absolutely agree with what you say, that's the main reason we controlish players hate those "dumb aggro decks", they don't let us try/consolidate new things in ladder ^^
That said (and because of that reason) I play a lot just against friends, so my question about this deck fixes would be a bit "out of meta" too. I mean, I'll try to make it viable to rank up, but also to play against friends, so I don't have to care so much about the aggro metagame, cause I can have 2 similar decks adapted to each mode.
I'll probably cut 1x Azure and Rend for 2x Corruptor, as suggested, and I'll try Nefarian instead of Ysera (mainly because of fun reasons, not because I think he'll be better, imo it will depend a lot on the match and RNG for that spells, of course).
Hi there! With the new adventure, I started playing Paladin cause I wanted to try a deck that could make use of the new cards in a viable way (you know, a bit of fresh air). Right now I'm using this quite standard Paladin-Dragons deck, but I want to add Blackwing Corruptor, not sure if x1 or x2 (I think I'd like to have 2 but I got many 5 mana drops) and Nefarian (I'll swap with Ysera).
Any suggestions about what to do to fit the Corruptors? I'm thinking about cutting some of these: Rend, Azure Drake (1 copy), Hungry Dragon (1 copy), Muster for Battle (1 copy) or even the only Zombie Chow I'm running. Trust me, I'm REALLY unlucky with those 1 mana motherfuckers, no matter if I run x1 or x2, I almost never get them in the starting hand, so I hate that card quite a bit... but I know that the few times I get'em early, they tend to perform well Y____Y
Ideas, suggestions...? Thanks a lot in advance and sorry for my English ^^

Cause you can always choose your next 3 draws and not to draw those cards before.
