This is so hard to evaluate. If you can finish this quest with any kind of consistency it seems good, but it just feels so inconsistent.
Also the nice thing is this will certainly be a skillful deck if it works. Getting a good mulligan and knowing what minion to commit to playing 4 copies of and when to commit will be huge.
Feels like a really weird card for Rogue...I mean, sure, there are benefits to having all your cheap minions turn into 5/5s, but it just doesn't seem very Rogue-like.
I mean, what kinda of deck would you even build around this sort of mechanic? Just running only minions with less than 5/5 stats..and also running the whole arsenal of bounce effects (Gadgetzan ferryman viable, topkek).
I mean, just compare this to ther other quests so far: Priest gets MegaReno, Shaman gets Murloczilla, Warlock gets infinite Imps and Paladin is about to get Al#Akir on steroids....and Rogue gets slightly bigger minions for the rest of the game by having to build the most awkward deck ever conceived.....if at least it was "summon" instead of play it could have synergy with Sherazin, Corpse Flower.
I get that Edwin is an insanely powerful legendary and they can't just give Rogue some value overload card, but can we just stop trying to force gimmicks that there is no real foundation for?
Disagree. People were wrong about Finja, and Shaku. This quest is no different. As soon as you see that turn 6 madness, people will be like "oh, that's how that works."
That quest card, even very interesting on it's own, seems to be completely unplayable. You don't want to play Thistle Tea or Mimic Pod because it's huge tempo loss card and very unreliable. Even when you finish the quest with brewmasters, shadowsteps or with those weird draw cards, whatsoever, the reward is completely useless. Like what kind of minions you want to play to gain something from it, like Wisp?
Edit: Ok, tokens is the way, but I would be veeery surprised if this deck will work somehow.
Yea. You can't really take this commentary seriously. He's just a good arena player, who has a lot of viewers. He's not a pro player, and his comparisons/justifications are not thought out, and just thrown together on the spot. Elementals will be tested and released as a good counter to tier 1 decks. I'm well certain of that. They need to be able to stand against aggro on a good draw, and finish late game with some good card play. Just like any other Jade deck. So to try and compare or say what is good/bad about elementals is just a bunch of speculation, until you actually see them on the board and play them. Take Yogg for example. Go back and look to see what anyone said about these cards (wotog), and they were wrong I'll bet most of the time. Reno Jackson is going away. Everything you thought about putting in your deck is going to change. Brann will be gone. There won't be any more Trogg/totem. Azure Drake will be gone, conceal, Ragnaros. You're going to see a lot of old decks become good again. Priest dragons are disappearing. Where is the commentary on any of this in your elemental rant?
I got to 3 once. I wanted to get legend but it just seemed impossible, and it was the end of season. This season I'm at 7. I want to at least hit 5 again. I think I'll be able to do it. I end up switching decks about every 5 ranks. Seems like the closer you get the more you hit the top tier 1 decks, and gimmick decks just don't cut it anymore. I face a lot of back to back druids, then I'll see priest/mage/lock. Then it will be straight shamans for a while. I'm guessing it's because everyone is switching constantly trying to get the winstreak deck. It's a rock/paper/scissor game, since each deck consistently beats another deck. Occasionally you'll see the Aviana deck, or pirate warrior.
It also has to do with the audience factor. Not many people are going to be intrigued to sit and watch a game like chess. But with Hearthstone, you can see that cards land on the board and people go crazy. That's part of the design. Sleek and interactive. It makes you feel like you're playing an RTS. Those other CCG you mention, they lack this sort of interaction. Either they're too gimmicky, or you can't see the action the way you want to. It's because they don't have the money to invest like Blizzard does. The sheer fact that Blizzard is making a ton of money off the game, and the competitive scene, makes Hearthstone in a league of it's own. You can compare this to how WOW beats other MMORPG's.
I played Gwent a lot. The monster weather control deck is pretty good. What I'd realized while playing is that RND is what keeps games fresh. After hundreds of games I didn't want to even play because it was against the same decks. Nothing really changes too much. This made me think of early hearthstone days before GvG introduced heavy RNG, and it's a really good move by Team 5 to keep the games fresh.
I hear this a lot from players about Gwent, but the big patch is coming and they will be adding a lot of new cards in the near future. Maybe things will be more fresh once these changes are live, but who knows for sure tho
Yea, I'm siding with RNG. Without it, you just have rock/paper/scissors until someone says "oh, rock is the best". Or, this game takes skill to be good. Really it only takes repetition. If your skill level is higher than someone else, you've basically been playing the game longer, and know how to deal with certain situations (and you call that skill). RNG adds a bonus factor where you could win. Even when you're pretty far down and out. And that's exciting. Take for example, Dragon Priest. You need a dragon, you keep drawing and finally get a Twilight Guardian, feelsgoodman. Un goro is going to be a great addition to this type of meta, because it will add more flavor. You can't beat Blizzard at their games. Don't even try. And Gwent? Just another meh game that you could play for a few hours then get bored. Sorry for the salt, but you have to speak the truth to be heard.
I switched to Loyan's Jade Shaman to get to 8. I think it has potential to get to 5. You can find it on this site.
You might have noticed the meta switches to Control and Priest / Jade. This is probably where you're losing all of your games. You can't just throw down your cards anymore and trade. You have to think of what you have and how you're going to win. What deck are you playing?

Loyan's Jade Shaman from the front page is pretty good.

He's probably going to be elemental, just missing the tag. They did this last expansion with Demons.

I'm sure we'll see something like +1/+1 for elementals on board.
Or, the next elemental you play costs 3 less mana.

I played evolve between 15-10. Worked fairly well.
