i was a little skeptic about playing Artifact since you have to pay 20$ for it . but i thought maybe i should give it a try maybe i will like it just like i did with Gwent .
however with all the pay to play and pay to win concept included with Artifact (pay for game, packs and cards) i told myself why i don't go to steam market and see the prices of the cards . then i got shocked, a rare Axe card worth more than 20$, more than the game itself. (see the attached picture for some cards prices).
this reminds me how much money i put in Dota 2 when i used to play it and never got rare we very rare sets from Chests .
with that money i will buy some old Hearthstone Adventures that i missed and enjoy it better .
I'm not totally opposed to a system like that. Letting the market decide a card's value instead of cards being lumped together depending on rarity. It gives it a physical TCG feel. I mean, should Glacial Mysteries and Ultimate Infestation have the same value? It's up for debate. Artifact's system isn't really for me, but I can certainly see the appeal of it.
i can see the appeal to people who want a real tcg but online where the cards can hold some real value via steam credit or using a third party site its not for everyone heck it does not even appeal to me but i can see the reason people will like it and stick too it
They are making money in a whimsical way. In real life TCGs, at least we are getting a physical product for our own enjoyment and collection, and (depending on how much you care for them) they will stay there as much time as you want. In a digital card game (including HS) we get nothing. Yeah your account is there and your collection and stuff, but no one's gonna refund that in any way in the future if the game shuts down. In Hearthstone, however, you have a chance to be completely free to play at least, which you can't in Artifact.
I dont mind the paying for cards, ane the market decidong thw price... But no competitive mode without paying to play is the red line for me...
I must confess i don't know a tonne about the competitive play options in it, but this one that is exclusively behind a £1 pay wall just leaves a sour taste..
There needs to be a progress/ranking system, they said that would be worked on after launch so im not putting anything into it until i see what this is
You can get all your money back by selling the cards again though, can't you? In HS, your money is gone forever. In artifact and MTG, you just "lend" it to the company.
(Provided the cards hold their value, i.e. the game doesn't die and the power creep isn't too insane)

if hearthstone wasPhysical UI would probably reach the $USD 30 mark (i remember back when i played yugioh and effect veiler costed that), while mysteries would cost 1.75 at most i don't like artifact's monetization, but the rip off prices come from the players selling them, not the company

I think you can only sell your cards for Steam cash, not real money. That is one reason why I would never enter the Artifact market place, cant play free and your cards are only valuable in the steam app.
Because is a chat and people is here to talk and express opinions you moron
aww cwy me a river ;(
If no one is suppose to care what the OP thinks, then why in the world did you bother to comment? because people sure aren't going to care what you think lol. what a hypocrite, dont listen to the OP but everyone look at my comment haha, your a joke.
2.Artifact is the most ugly card game I have ever seen.
3.I have 3k hours in Dota 2 and I have to say that the game does not make a lot of sense.
4.If I could I would disenchant the game(with the help of the Lich King)
5.When a card is more expensive than the whole game, that is disgusting.
Conclusion: Blizzard with it's upsides and downsides,is one of the best platform you could ever be(if not the best),hearthstone is the best card game, wow even tough I am burnout right now,is still an amazing game, and so on with the rest. Hearthstone rocks Artifact sucks(my opinion sry if I offended anyone)

Not true. You can sell the cards in Artifact for Steam wallet money, not real money. Once you spend money on Artifact that cash is never leaving the Valve ecosystem.
It's not surprising to see all the toxicity from people on this thread, when Thijis mocked how little views Artifact had, people would tell him to kill himself and what not.

Of course it can leave the Valve ecosystem. Just buy tf2 or csgo keys on the market, and then sell them to Paypal buyers. You wouldn't see as many csgo and, some years ago, tf2 traders, if the money was stuck in the valve system. There's actual money to be made here, and the same will go for Artifact.

Why anybody will never fuckin care
I guess issues like that can be problematic if you are poor.
The only thing I see Artifact missing as of right now is more content. Cards etc. That is the same feeling I had when Hearthstone was in BETA.

Why u hav to be mad? is only card gaem.

just check the prizes for current meta yugioh cards and it's the same, these are players selling them, not Konami

That's great and all, but why are you posting this on Hearthpwn - This is not a Artifact forum.

Why I will never play:
1.Steam for me(f2p spectrum) is toxic&cancer
2.Artifact is the most ugly card game I have ever seen.
3.I have 3k hours in Dota 2 and I have to say that the game does not make a lot of sense.
4.If I could I would disenchant the game(with the help of the Lich King)

If you don't care then why did you click this thread.
It's actually interesting in first place seeing something else expensive too aside from HS.
