I've been playing HS for 3+ years and I have no intention quitting it, or playing another card game.
As a f2p player I invested a lot of time in this game, got the cards from all adventures and the best cards from all expansions(I started to farm golden cards recently).
So unless HS becomes pay2play -> impossible to reach high ranks without spending money, I will keep playing it.
I'm not totally opposed to a system like that. Letting the market decide a card's value instead of cards being lumped together depending on rarity. It gives it a physical TCG feel. I mean, should Glacial Mysteries and Ultimate Infestation have the same value? It's up for debate. Artifact's system isn't really for me, but I can certainly see the appeal of it.
The problem with "letting the market decide a card's value" is - some people will just play the market itself and pump up the prizes of cards one day and then - after a few days - they will drop so low that you will want to go cry in some dark corner. And that will happen A LOT. So, basically you will have to play shit tons of money to random "market players" if you want to build a competitive constructive decks all the time (ofc, Valve are getting their 5% rip off of every transaction) OR if you want to play the drafted (arena) modes, you will have to pay Valve shit tons of money since you basically can't go infinite on the event tickets. So, all in all - you have to put a lot of money all the time in to this game in order to be able to play it on somewhat Okay level.
And about "getting the TCG feel" - you are wrong again. In Magic you have the physical object and it has a collector's value attached to it (even if the card itself is not used in the next expansion), which can't be compared to a bunch of pixels on your screen (and it's stupid for a bunch of pixels to cost $20 one day and $2 in one week, just cuz of a new patch/nerf/expansion).

2.Artifact is the most ugly card game I have ever seen.
3.I have 3k hours in Dota 2 and I have to say that the game does not make a lot of sense.
4.If I could I would disenchant the game(with the help of the Lich King)
5.When a card is more expensive than the whole game, that is disgusting.
Conclusion: Blizzard with it's upsides and downsides,is one of the best platform you could ever be(if not the best),hearthstone is the best card game, wow even tough I am burnout right now,is still an amazing game, and so on with the rest. Hearthstone rocks Artifact sucks(my opinion sry if I offended anyone)
You realize that there is only ONE FUCKING CARD that is actually more expensive than the game, right?
Also, I've checked the prices for the most expensive cards on the market:
1 card (Axe) costs $20
1 card (Drow) costs $14
3 cards cost around $10
8 cards cost around $3-5
5 cards cost around $2
8 cards cost less than $2 but more than $1
240 cards cost less than $1 and like 60% of those cards aren't even close to $0.20
I don't know why people even propose this shit as an argument, all of these cards will get much cheaper anyway because influx of cards is a thing. Best decks in Artifact don't even use the most expensive cards. So you need roughly something around $170 to buy every card in Artifact if we don't count 10 starter packs, 2 free decks and 5 arena tickets after you purchase the game
P.S I do agree that Valve went overboard with the monetization system though

It's like WoW's auction house, just with real money, and you don't get physical cards like in tangible card games.
Yay them, I guess.
