I would just go to the Wiki and copy off all the cards and make my own hard copy of the game... and fixing all the things I felt needed to be fixed.
... honestly, we should probably all just go do that anyway.
Unless you buff every card creator to only delivering a limited pool of cards,
I thought about this a bit... I was thinking that your Discover mechanics could simply have a roll to determine which set they Discover from, then you shuffle the <attribute> cards you aren't using for that set (no getting duplicates of cards you're already using - eliminate Priest having 7 copies of their Titan) - or if it's a Discover effect for something in your deck, you present your opponent with a list of legitimate targets for any Discover effects you want to use, so a duplicate Discover pile can be generated for you to draw/search from.
It would be a bit cumbersome, at first, until your player base got used to how you'd have to alter the mechanics to operate in meatspace, but at least you (probably) wouldn't be facing the same 4 decks over and over again, ad nauseum, if you're playing your friends and just trying out new, fun ideas on each other... without giving Blizzard another dime for them to further corrupt this game with.
I was excited before launch, then it all disappeared and i'm logging just every 3 days to empty the quest slots.
But i can't say i was enjoying the game before too. The game evolved too much, the speed increased exponentially. Can't remember the last match i had that went to fatigue, it was a really long time ago.
I like when you slowly build card advantage and thr game feels like a chess game. But with the current power level is impossible, everything is busted and lead to a quick end. In my opinion, they are abusing of the rush keyword too. Now every board (no matter how fat it is) can somehow be cleared.
I mean, you also think that bringing Leeroy Jenkins with the charge mechanic is a good idea because it's a classic character (still haven't gotten over that one, haha). You're entitled to your opinion but generally speaking I'd say we have a very different perception of the game.
As for spending 600$ bucks on the game, did you read that sentence I wrote? It's pretty important if you want to understand my message:
Just to be clear, I'm not judging you on spending that much, I just wasn't even aware that it was possible that people would want to spend that much a year.
I find it surprising that anyone would spend that much. The 600 bucks a year opened up my eyes on how much other people are spending. If people want to spend 1,000$ on Hearthstone they can do anything they like. In a way, that way other people are financing the game for all the F2P players, which is great. Have at it.
I bought the megabundle too, opened most legendaries but cant find a fun deck. I thought i can play overhead priest, cant make it work, or highlander but no plague counter. Trying to make owl druid work but i always die, maybe I'm just bad.
You are not bad. What IS bad is making a spell damage theme for Druid, but not putting moonfire back into the core set. OTK spell damage, even with Malygos, was never a super high-percentage deck, but it was viable. This edition of spell damage druid is just too weak. Maybe next set if they give a cheap damage spell (not limited to minions) it will make the archetype more viable.

Yep, it used to be much harder to clear a board. That’s why Zarimi is so powerful now. Every turn your opponent can clear your board no matter how strong it is. Zarimi simply takes a turn away, the only true way to deal with all the cheap, cheesy board clears. I love it when the opponent easily clears a huge board with only 2 mana, then has the rest of their mana left to build their own board. It’s just awesome!
I’ve been intentionally cutting down on my hours over the last few months. I only play hearthstone on my phone, and have reduced from ~5 hours a day to ~3. There is a lot of highly repetitive paperwork at my job, and hearthstone has been my “background task” since release. I have recently blocked hearthstone from my phone during non-work hours and it’s definitely for the best.
The past few years have been disappointing, and I’ve spent a lot less in the game recently than in years past. Got married, have some kids, and there are more important places for money to go.
My biggest drop in time played has actually been this expansion. My most enjoyed game mode is Duels, and I was planning on spending a lot of time giving the mode a last hoorah. But since they’ve decided not to include Wizbang’s in Duels, I’ve lost a lot of interest in playing.
Ultimately, I’ve been a casual player since release who has wasted too much time on the game, and would rather spend my time and money on physical games (ttrpg, board games) then on hearthstone. I still play it as a fidget-toy when at work, but I’m about to switch jobs and will likely remove Heartstone from my phone when that happens. And I’m bittersweet knowing that I probably won’t miss it.
I quit aound the end of 2019 - I made it through to Descent of Dragons since I have distinct memories being frustrated by Pirate Rogue in Wild, but as soon as Demon Hunter was announced, I bounced.
I've stuck around mostly just because I like to analyze card game design as a hobby - the why first order optimal strategies arise, how metagames evolve, etc etc.
I distinctly remember around the time I full quit that the "lol, [Class Y] in [year]" had already been several years old at that point in referring to how there were always one or two classes that just never got there competitivey speaking, and that adding a tenth class into the mix would just make balance that much harder to do.
For the record, given how timultuous 2020 was on balance, that opinion turned out to be true, and I regret nothing, watching how insane the non-balance has gotten these last four years. The introduction of DH and DK has only served to change the meme from "lol 9th-best class in current forma" to "lol 11th-best class in current format".
I find it surprising that anyone would spend that much. The 600 bucks a year
Maybe I forgot to mention but I was also going for the complete (normal) collection. Ever since Goblins vs. Gnomes where they leaned in more on the - as was said in the original trailer - "But of course you can forget all that and just have fun" aspect of the game; I decided that I wanted to try out all the fun stuff. And for a long time it really was. But nowadays... a lot of stuff feels super OP and unfun. Especially to play against (which to me is also very important) but even to play with. I have no real interest in even trying it out. It certainly saves me quite a lot of money, lol.
Generally speaking 50 per month (600 a year) on games doesn't seem that much. I think that's like almost or maybe not even enough for one of those so-called triple A games. What I didn't say was that indeed there is pretty much nothing else I spend money on other than Hearthstone. And at that time it really felt like it was money well spent. I had a lot of fun. I mean I still do have fun but... yeah, not as much; it doesn't feel like it's worth spending money anymore. After all... I mean I wrote it above; yeah. What I really hope for are some good social options/groups etc. But not even now with the 10 year anniversary and they even removed and are about to remove stuff: Fireside Gathering and Duels. I don't know how to feel about that.
I guess Hearthstone is still a fun game, but it's also sad to see all this "missed potential" of how much better the game could be. And considering that I should probably cut my spending even more. But of course I know I'm of a small minority so... yeah; whatever I guess.
I replied in another thread, but for me, the game is just broken and/or unfun now. I tend to enjoy more control sort of gameplay, but it just doesn't work anymore.
The decks I face on ladder...
Sif Mage (Discover bonanza then OTK), Tendril Reno Warrrior (shitshow, but arguably one of the fairer decks), Odin Warrior (basically OTK), Wheel Lock (super fun /s), DH - Window shopper - dead by turn 5/6, Token Hunter - dead by turn 5/6, Giant Rogue - dead by turn 5/6, Spell druid (OTK), Plague DK - inevitable unavoidable death as control, Shaman (OTK - not as popular since the nerf), Paladin - don't see much paladin these days, Priest - dragon OTK.
Everything in this game now is about excessive mana cheating or killing your opponent in one turn with no interaction. There are so many broken cards and combos that I just dont see how you can fix it at this point. For me it's not about it a particular deck being overpowered. There will always be a best deck. For me it's about the only types of deck that are viable.
I don't want to play a game where I know I've lost the second I see what class my opponent is, but that's the state we're in now. I can flip coins if I wanted to play that sort of game...
It could be worse - Yugioh have just gotten worse and worse - Synchrosummons baaah, Xyz baaah and now pendulum summons that wins the game on turn one - Atleast in hearthstone you get to play the game
I played a lot less and never buy expansions anymore. The game is as unbalanced as can be. Classes with near 60% winrate and classes with near 40% winrate. They are not even trying to fix it. Then fine, you don't get my money anymore.
Priest can only win with The dragon legendary, which has no counter aside being lucky with dropping a Dirty Rat. Paladin can permanent stealth a fully buffable minion which only counter is a silence.
Nah man, not my meta at all. I want to see board battles. Smart thinking. Nothing of that is left.

There has not been a single deck with 60% winrate for months. What are you talking about?

I made a Wild OTK deck with Psychmelon to pull Owlonius, Freya, Aviana, and Kun. And I included the amazing, the dreaded… Ancient Mage… mostly for LOLs. But it’s been okay the few games I’ve played with it. Can get Moonbeam, the 1 damage twice card, up to 11(*2), and can get extra copies of all the damage spells with Freya. Needs a little more work but overall it’s coming along.

According to hsreplay.net, Demon Hunter has a winrate of 57,3% currently. Hence my comment of near 60%.
Been playing significantly less. They really messed up with hardly having any achievements this expansion. I’ve already completed them all. I log in, do my daily and then I’m done, not earning or working toward anything anymore so I don’t bother.
Sometimes I do feel like I want to quit. They've gone too aggressive on prices and card effects where the game just isnt fun anymore. I play basically as a chore now. I like to escape to Battlegrounds. Its the only thing I can play where it can be fun even though it has insane RNG at least Im not seeing the same thing over and over.
Like the person above me mentioned, less achievements so why even bother to experiment? No help for the reward track too. I would totally do a Whizbang achievement if I had to win a game with all his versions. I would work hard for that.

First time in years I haven't spend money on an exp and im glad I didnt..
Lets just say I wasn't having a good time and my DK being countered and molested violently by Wheellock several times over didn't help either..
I'm done with (paying for) this shit show.
I will keep playing tho as long as free2play can carry me on my acquired dust over the years
There is nothing standard about Standard anymore. If I want to die on turn 5 I would play Wild. Game has just spiraled into the dumpster.
