Won't be long before combo takes over again, right? As soon as aggro dies, I'd assume even standard would develop greedy OTKs aimed at 40hp. Phylactery in lock, probably Brann in shaman and maybe druid, as soon as they see they can get away with it.
I'm more curious about things developing post-expansion, right now we can overlook about anything, temporary meta.
This is the ultimate coinflip meta. Every 40 card deck I've faced so far was inconsistent, I face a nut draw one game, then utter trash the next.
I think the best decks to climb with right now are control decks without the 40 for 40 dude, since you won't be facing that many aggro opponents and you'll have higher average card quality than your control opponents.
What strikes me is how modest Renethal is. 40 HP is a nice buffer against aggro, but it doesn't auto-win against aggro, and there's a cost in terms of inconsistency and the dead draw of the 3/4.
But there's just more of an equilibrium. You can play Murloc Shaman and Pirate Warrior. You can also play Curse Warlock.
No, it isn't. People are playing sane control in wild right now. But soon this kind of control will be destroyed by greedy decks with little to no anti-aggro tools. With no (enough) anti-aggro tools, wild aggro decks will eat your 40 health with ease.
Hearthstone matches are happening the way they used to happen when the knights of the frozen throne expansion was released.
Control meta is back.
Feels good to hear that wild is mostly full of control meta.
Awesome! I'd hope the same...if Aggro was truly dead. Believe me, I wish it was. But it'll never truly go away. In my mind, if aggro ever really did disappear for good, then good riddance.
But sadly, you over exaggerate my friend. Aggro will always be a tool cheap players can rely on for strong decks. Look at warlock...each time the gimmick of any given set fails for the class, it always falls back to a zoolock build for the meta. Same thing for hunter. Both classes have so strong basic and classic cards that new set releases don't have to really ever matter if necessary. They'll always have strong decks. And aggro is the preferred play style of both. I hate it that that's the way it is but that's how that cookie crumbles.
Trust me, aggro is still safe. But trust me, if it does ever truly die, I'll gladly be the first to bust out the party hats and confetti. Screw the aggro style to the 10th circle of hell.
Aggro won't ever truly die. If aggro becomes so uncommon to the point decks take out their cheap anti-aggro cards for better long-term cards against other control decks, aggro will come back to whoop them. And maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I don't get all this "I hope aggro dies" shit, a healthy balance between both is what the game should be aiming for. If there's too much aggro, there will always be a control deck, and the same applies for a control meta.

Oh, and if your aggro deck can't dish out 10 more damage than usual, you probably shouldn't have been playing it in the first place. Armor's existed since the start of the game.
Nah aggro is not dead. Burn decks will have a more issues to kill the opponent and I don't think even then burn decks can be cataloged as dead. Aggro decks that rely on minion and face damage, splash a couple good weapons if available and maybe a couple burn spells just for reach are fine. Like yes they are a bit worse if they face a Renathal deck but it isn't an auto-loss scenario. I haven't played anything truly aggro in Standard but I play a lot of Pirate Rogue in Wild and I've faced a lot of Renathal decks and still managed to win. And against none Renathal decks I also end up with more than 30 damage available on the turn I kill them (as in I had like 4-5 more damage than the 30 needed) so a good aggro deck can definitely go past 30 damage.
I played some Murloc Shaman. Seemed fine, even against Renethal decks. Couple of games could have gone either way, that maybe I would have won more of with 30 health, but maybe not cause maybe the Renethal deck would have had it's answers sooner.
Either way I still had a nice win rate (albeit at lower ranks due to season start).
Reports of Aggro's death have been greatly exaggerated. - Mark Twain, probably. :p

Anyone that plays cancer aggro is basically admitting they have zero skill to run a Reno or Highlander Deck. Aggro decks take zero skill so it is better for the plebs to try and win games.

While I've wanted this so bad in standard pirate warrior can still hit a turn 6 with coin lethal on 40 hp and DH can do it in 7.
Even against heals and armor up.
But it does feel better overall. No we just need to lose somenof the mana cheat casino decks and we may have a playable meta.

Aggro being dead is horrible for the game thank goodness it isn’t
Aggro is fine, it's just annoying to play as.

Yeah, everyone is sucking on the priest shard atm. It is getting kinda stupid. Im a control player, but i already miss the meta before Renethal

Yup, I suspected as much. Can't get that lucky, lul.
The juggernaut still has a 100% chance to give you mr smite gorehowl and 2 cannons to the face every time wouldn’t say aggro Is dead
I won with aggro rogue in wild vs a Mage with 2 iceblocks and 40 hp.
EZ .
P.s I hate quest mage in wild
Once people figure out to play 30-card OTK/combo decks against the 40-card decks, aggro will become relevant again.
Blizzard should really print a neutral card to destroy a spell in opponents hand
Pretty sure they printed one that caused your opponent to cast a spell. I dno't think it ever saw much play.
