it's not...... DH just never got to T9/T10 consistently against mage/paladin for enough people to complain about this card :(
You basically need to have more than one taunt, or the ability to healing 5+ immediately while developing things to prep for the 2nd one and sometimes a THIRD one otherwise you'll run out of removals for the other stuff hitting your face.
For armor gaining classes like druid/warrior, or priest can outheal it easily. But for like warlock/hunter this card is just like nail in the coffin if you can't put up enough pressure/taunts in the early game.
Illidari Inquisitor has not yet found it's full potential. But I believe it will. I mean, if the DH has a weapon equipped already, going into turn 8 (or even sooner if it gets a skull discount), it can trade off a minion, and then hit face in the same turn.
This is the kind of thing people hated about Blade Dance, basically, being able to clear stuff and still send damage face. Albeit, this is only one minion and if it has to hit something bigger than it, then it dies...
But! I think this will get used in the future. It definitely has potential.
Illidari Inquisitor does as well under most circumstances, though. Unless you have multiple taunts or something with divine shield or > 8 HP or attack, it gets to trade and still do its face thing. Nutty card; I just about lost it when it was printed. Thank god the rest of the new DH cards are garbage otherwise it'd be an issue.
Alexstrasza the Life-Binder doesn't have rush and cannot be played on turn 8 if needed. If you have a weapon equipped Illidari Inquisitor doesn't require a hero power to go face either.
I'm playing a lot of DH lately and I love it, really powerful card. Better than Alex from my experience since it allows you to clear a big minion AND deal 8 to your opponent's face/kill two big minions. Saving a weapon charge lets you play it on 8 too.
Sorry, that's an odd comparison, two very different cards. Let me explain why: Illidari Inquisitor has rush, so it can attack at least twice the turn it is played if you use your hero power (of course, it can only damage the enemy hero once that way). Also, it can attack more times if your hero has some special weapon or ability to trigger its ability more than once (obviously if it survives damage).

This. Illidari Inquisitor is A LOT more powerful and you can run two of those.
The RUSH+CHARGE potential ON THE SAME TURN is freaking ridiculous.
This should be after your hero attacks A MINION...

I was sure this would be a card that once people got the nerfs they wanted, would cause the second wave of complaints and nerf calls.
I actually do feel it's a bit of a bonkers effect and can leave you with that 'carpet swept from beneath you' sort of feeling. I'm willing to accept that a majority of those cases are ones I probably could or should have planned for, done something different etc but at the same time, it's never nice feeli g like you've generally played well and made good decisions, you're on the verge of winning and then this slightly insane swing turned(s) happens, you go from 20 health to dead and you're left feeling a bit like so.....That happened....
Will need to start including some decent taunt boys if this does start to make its way into the meta. If I'm gojng to lose no matter what I do, I'd rather it be to insane lunacy stuff by turn 5 than spend a few turns thinking I'm doing well before having my board and health wiped away by what feels like a bit of a cheesy effect. I'd prefer it to be a minion that your hero attacks, or leave as enemy but remove the rush. The fact it can remove a large minion and then also go face feels a bit.... I don't know. You know how some games increase difficulty by just ramping up boss hp? And it just feels mehhhh. That, that's how this can feel. I'm not saying it needs a nerf or should be nerfed, I just don't like it very much.
Illidari Inquisitor is honestly a sleeper of a late game threat, surprised not many people are using it. Rush + the ability to attack whatever you attacked right afterwards, that's basically an 8/8 rusher with pseudo-windfury that can opt to go face. Will definitely see play if the meta slows down enough for midrange to become a proper thing again...
The thing is absurd, and the counterplay barely works. I was playing a Taunt Druid for a while, which often has several beefy taunts on the board at once. Didn't matter -- it just cleared them and stayed alive for the next turn. No hard removal and no Rush in hand meant that I was screwed.
Also played a bit of Wildfire/Freeze Mage. I know it's not a good deck, but I was having fun. Inquisitor came out and blasted my face on the opponent's turn. Okay, fine, I've got a Brain Freeze, I'll just shut him down until I can deal with him.
Oh, what's that? It's a Frozen minion who attacks anyway, even though that's never been how Freeze works in any case ever in the history of Hearthstone? Interesting. Very balanced. Balanced and interesting and not at all problematic for a discountable non-Legendary effect that will be around for an entire year.
There is a bunch of 7-9 mana cards that are completely above the curve and should be busted. Yet most of them see no play whatsoever. Blizzard realized that in order for midrange cards have a chance to be played, they need to be REALLY strong. And even then, they are generally just too expensive to matter.
Yes, Illidari Inquisitor is a stupidly powerful card. It's also a very lame design for a class that can naturally attack with its 1-mana hero power. Yet it has zero impact on the metagame and most likely will have no impact in the future.
All things considered, it seems like a "fair" option for Demon Hunter to close games against decks that want to live forever (most decks will either win or lose long before that, or just heal out of this poor guy's reach).
If for whatever reason Blizzard decided to delete this card, I wouldn't mind at all. It's an eyesore as a Core set card, but not the only one.
I have been wondering:
is this abomination of a card balanced?

Alexstrasza the Life-Binder
8/8 body and deal 8 damage to face.
Both 9 mana (if Illidari Inquisitor is used with hero power) and Alexstrasza the Life-Binder has the flexibility to heal and bypass taunts for face damage.
You can run two Illidari Inquisitor is an upside though.

I think It is but we can see it because that card can't shine in this particular meta.
Neah...good ole Lady Alexa undoubtly better, she can just ignore Taunt.

Libram of Hope is a bummer though

yeah but he can kill the taunt first then hit face

I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me that this card could go face...that’s busted

The card shouldn't have rush
The card should be legendary.
