I once dreamed that Blizzard would bring back the original Illidan card ( 7/7 battlecry both players discard 3 cards and draw 3 cards).
But discard 5 opponent cards without any drawback, and still have a 6 mana 8/8 against aggro.. Oh man, that is lovely.
Also this card is not uniteractive at all. The corrupt keyword forces all sorts of interactions to happen before playing the card, it's not like you just have to draw it and play it immediately and win the game, you know, like most combo decks do.
Seeing combo decks use dirty rat tech in their decks and failing to get my Tickatus will be a sweet revenge.
I feel personally insulted by you calling me a combo player...then again, I supposed I can't get TOO offended since you clearly can't read the part where I expressed my deep and rooted hatred for those archetypes
there is A BIT of a difference between a tech card (tinkmaster vs big priest, oozes/harrison) that give you a good advantage and this tumor of a card that simply wins the game
hey raza!, i just wanna tell you that for every game with my malygos druid i will lose by this card i will just think of you conceding in all those Reno warlocks stealing your heropower or just tictaking 5/10 cards and your anduind goes.....hmmm........-i wonder.......-i must consider...........................i must concede

I'm sorry my post wasn't directed at you personally nor do I hate anyone behind a combo deck, I didn't even read your post with much attention, I'm just using this thread as a vessel for expressing my joy, I just hate OTK combos and welcome anything that gives me a fighting chance with suboptimal/meme decks against those insane wild combo decks and isn't a dead card against other archetypes.
Who doesn't like a win button, right? Combo decks have one. Or two. Or three... I have one too now. Never really liked dirty rat it does either nothing or bad things in 80% of games.
there is A BIT of a difference between a tech card (tinkmaster vs big priest, oozes/harrison) that give you a good advantage and this tumor of a card that simply wins the game
As I already stated in this thread, this doesnt win anyone anything. It literally has zero impact on the game whatsoever unless you push your opponent to fatigue.
The card is a piece of crap lol, the best use this card has is in zoo as a 6 mana 8/8 with a "drawback". Control warlock always loses in fatigue so this card doesn't matter there, and combo decks are not strong enough to warrant this as a tech card.
There's no functional difference between "STOP" and "PREVENT," though. If you STOP your opponent by killing their minion that's on the board, you're PREVENTING your opponent from attacking with them later. Or using the minion's activated effect. Which is, presumably, why they played the minion in the first place. If you STOP them from attacking your face by using your taunts, you're PREVENTING them from doing what they want ("hitting your face"). If you PREVENT them from drawing 5 cards, you STOP them from ... playing those cards.
Look, I'm with you in that I don't like uninteractive effects. Back in my Magic days, if it was clear that someone was playing a Counterspell deck, I just wouldn't play with them until they picked a new deck. It's not fun. But this guy? He has counterplay. The counterplay boils down to "run a deck that can afford to lose 5 cards." And I don't know about you, but most of my decks operate that way. Sure, it's a bummer if cards get burned, especially cards I like. But in the vast majority of games, you never draw your 25th card at all, let alone your 30th, so they might as well have been burned/Ticketed anyway, for all the value they offered in that game.
And if your game plan revolves around dragging your opponent to fatigue, then I've got news for you: Tickatus is the counterplay to YOUR plan.
You’re forgetting that Demonic Studies can search for him and reduce the cost, plus Felosophy can copy it in your hand. It’s not just “you lose 5 cards.” It’s going to be more like losing 15-20 cards very quickly. Welcome to the new Mill.
There is no possible way that you could ever mill 20.
The earliest you could play a single Tickatus given double Demonic Studies is turn 6, because you would have to wait to play a 5cost card to Corrupt it, and then drop him t6.
The second Tickatus could come out T7, then T8, and T9. On T9, the opponent would have drawn through a MINIMUM of 12 cards, meaning the most that you could ever mill, in the absolute best case scenario, is 18. In reality it's more like 12-15 total depending on the class you're facing.
And that doesn't take into account that you spend FOUR TURNS doing nothing but dropping a single chonky minion and not affecting the board at all. The opponent just has to have a freeze, taunt, poly, or big damage removal and he can hit your face for easily 30 damage over 4 turns. Then you lose.
It's not a good card. If you get super lucky and burn their Dragonqueen or Liadrin or double Lapidary or something then great, but as people have said you could also just kill them before they draw those cards with the same chance.
It's very meme-y, and in 1/1000 games you'll get your ideal scenario where you pull double Studies and double Felosophy by turn 4 and roll a tickatus which is a 3/58 chance (not counting any demons in the unrevealed cards), but that doesnt make up for all the games where you draw Tickatus and dont have a 7 drop and dont draw either Studies or Felosophy so he sits in your hand until turn 11 or 12

I mean worst case scenario it's an 8/8 demon for 6 mana. It's not exclusively meme-y and there's potential in some control lock/demon lock decks. Or as a top-end threat in demon zoo decks.
Just as a... burn your opponent's whole deck it's not really viable. It's not going to happen.
Got to admit, I wasn't hyped for this expansion at all....... until TODAY !
Both Warlock legendarys are among the most interesting ones in recent years, and allow for some actual INTELLIGENT plays.
Disrupt Warlock wont be easy to maneuver either (not when compared to Monkey classes like DH or Pen Pala) but its decks like these that make you still want to play the game. Questlock already has had some potential, but was just too inconsistent, but with Deck of Chaos that issue has been fixed now.
With the genius addition of Tickatus however....OH BOY, now the fun is reaaally just getting started ! <3
Warlock is just my 3rd or 4th class right now, but at least i have most of the legendarys, this will be the most fun class to play along with Control Warrior.
You are my man, totally agree with these thoughts. Also with a gamestyle.
the t.l.d.r. is "card bad 'cause stops you from playing YOUR cards and has no counterplay"
Funny that you complain about not being able to counterplay a card that its only purpose is to counterplay specific combos. its the same as if I complain about ooze destroying my weapon, I cant counterplay ooze! omg not fun!
it was created to prevent the situation you are complaining about, there must be a balance in the game, strong strategies and counter strategies
I do not know about you but personally I like to PLAY the game whenever I queue up for a match, and that requires me to play the CARDS i put in my deck. How in all hell is this in any way something anyone can consider remotely fun?
certainly not someone playing against it: from your PoV the idiot you're facing went "me play card so you don't get to use your cool toys"
so...is it maybe fun to play?
DISCLAIMER: this is coming from the guy that LOVES to stop what the opponent is doing...my playstyle is "I can't lose if I don't let the other guy win" whatever I end up doing THIS is my philosophy,my motto,my mantra.
well the key part is: STOP not PREVENT
playing cards like this one (that discard or disrupt in general) goes against everything PLAYING a GAME stands for: you do not let someone play the game,AND you deny the opportunity to stop the BS from happening. Hell, as deep and rooted as my hatred for OTK/mill/infinite decks is (for similar reasons to these) I NEVER ONCE felt good about "dirty ratting" a combo piece or something...I mean, I won...cool I guess but i did nothing to "deserve" it (waiting for max probabilty doesn't count, you can still get fked by RNG in a way that is bad even for HS)
I know this was kinda all over the place and I am kind of in a hurry rn so...I hope it makes sense
the t.l.d.r. is "card bad 'cause stops you from playing YOUR cards and has no counterplay"
Agree. some of my decks rely on me getting key cards to win even by milling part of my deck using flarks boomzoomka for example. Unless hearthstone have yugioh level of graveyard resummon mechanic, this card shouldn't exist.

Then some of your decks are going to lose to this card. Build your decks differently if you're mad about it, or suffer the losses and accept that you can't win them all.

yes this card will be insane vs OTK decks and even other toxic stuff like raza priest but that's not what I'm complaining about
the issue is way more rooted but, to sum it up, cards like these are ultra toxic because they invalidate a playstyle completely and the only reason they are even printed is because they are "needed" to stop other uber toxic cards that would otherwise run an uninteractive train through anything that isn't basically a face deck so you could say this (and other horrible BS like dirty rat, deathlord and similar) are a problem that was born because of other problems. excuse me but isn't "fk you, don't play what's fun to you" literally the worst design concept ever? (now I will say that this reasoning doesn't apply to "meme" decks as they are not built with winning as the primary objective but my point still stands for all the others)

I haven't had a control mirror go that long in months my guy, and I've been fucking with Highlander decks a lot. I also haven't seen fatigure in anything except turbo DH or maybe stealth Rogue that gets off double Passage.
I just doublechecked, and Big Warrior, the most control oriented deck I can think of in the meta, runs an average of 11.5 turns. Even Rez and Control priest are averaging 11-14 depending on the deck. You're talking about a matchup that's already pretty rare, and a turn count that is hitting 5% of those games. A card being useful in 5% of situations in 5% of matches isn't exactly the best card in the game. Hell, Harrison is useful more often than that and no one is calling him broken
