I see it like this. HS is basically the only game I play now in years. Because it's flexible I can play it whenever and invest as much time I want.
Of course I have work and family and can't spend as much time as I want for gaming.
That's why I always get those bundles before a big expansion.Because that's the only game I basically play. A friend of mine buys like 10 - 20 PS4 games per year and financially he spends way much more on games and most of them he doesn't even finish /play.
So all in all I'm okay with spending yearly a certain amount for one game I play almost daily .
I agree with slayercrohs. Hearthstone made 80%+ of my gaming time over the past 5 years. Therefore spending money is ok, even if some cards won't be usefull forever. Furthermore wild mode is in a good state and the duel mode is very promising. Apart from all the negativity we have to admit that Hearthstone is a great game and it's aaaaaaaalive :-)
I’ve spent thousands on this game and whilst I agree with what you guys say because it’s my main game I still find it over priced which inhibits better competitive play and more creative deck building. The reason I say that is because probably 70% of players don’t spend enough money on this game to have a full collection so they can’t be as creative.
I have said since the start they should just do a mega bundle that gives you the entire collection and make it cost about £90. Golden cards of course should still be rare so that for those wanting bling they can spend more.
Most of the people who are spending money are long term players. Most of those players have built a good collection and don’t want to miss out when an expansion is released.
truth is that without $$ from new players the game will gradually become unsustainable, only played buy a few older folks
Why would you BUY Hearthstone cards expecting to be able to SELL them?
Nobody said that I expect to sell them. Just saying, it would be nice to create some form of value for the people who invest in the game
Problem is IMO: that same value for people who invest in this game is a huge barrier of entry for people who haven't invested on this game. That's why I prefer the hearthstone model of accessibility.
I have a fairly full HS collection, for a tiny fraction of the price for a full MtG collection for example.
This is not a trading card game. Trading card games have their own economy a deck is much more valuable and since it is table top game rng is nearly non existent and much more strategy oriented.
Also trading card games doesn't cost as much as Heartstone except the rare cards they can cost a fortune but the point is you can buy or trade most of the cards to play the game.

This in nonsense. Blizzard just wants people to have to buy packs from blizzard to get cards rather than have the players selling people the cards they want at a discount. It would basically destroy the market for older packs and also enable a number of players who are limping along to get out of the game recouping some cash.
I play Hearthstone because I enjoy it, not to make money. If you want to make money there are many, many smarter and more effective ways of doing that apart from investing in Pokemon cards.
For an individual, non-business owner, investing in card games is almost always a losing proposition in the long term. Unless you can buy and sell in bulk, you aren't ever going to see significant returns.
Thinking of it as anything more than a hobby is a fool's errand.
If you want to "invest," spend your money in the stock market.

This x2 + 100%. I am a father of 4-year-old twins. I long for the days when I could sit and play games for hours on end. HS is something I can play in the pockets of time I do have. As an old MtG player (from Legends till about 7th ed), HS is the perfect game for me. I know I'm in a different boat than many players - a working man who can choose to invest (or not) in the big bundles. Yes, I wish the dust ratio was better, the rewards were greater and the cost wasn't so high. Still, it's a game I greatly enjoy (for all of its faults) and have no regrets about the time and money I invest in it.
Added bonus: I even meet some really great people online. They ARE there... hiding behind the trolls. I've struck up many a fun conversation with people I friended (and yes, I've been told to die in some wonderfully unique ways).

Exactly...I mean in another world Black Lotus would be worth pennies and a holo Venomyotismon would be the thing worth 10s of thousands of dollars

Am I the only one feeling this way or not?. My PSA 10 Digital Ragnaros isn't doing a got damn thing for me.

Is that a murloc? Yawn....conceede!
Wait, people actually waste money in this game?
Most of the people who are spending money are long term players. Most of those players have built a good collection and don’t want to miss out when an expansion is released.

Why would you BUY Hearthstone cards expecting to be able to SELL them?
..Magic has had cards worth 4-6 digits for years
First Edition Charizards from the base set is still in the 5 digit range
Yugioh just recently had a card worth a little over a grand...
So you're point is?
physical card games are more expensive than digital due to not having guaranteed variables.
Conversly I don't want to invest in dumb games again
f2p is the only sane way to play this game
What we need is NFT Hearthstone cards.
Cards that are attached to Non-fungible tokens (blockchain) that you are limited, cannot be copied and you can prove your ownership.
That way your PSA 10 Rag could be traded to someone for money. I doubt the Hearthstone developers are that progressive, though.

F2P players ride the coat tails of the paying players. It's fine, just don't gloat. There is no game if no one is paying those developing it.
