I've been playing solid DH as I want to try out the new cards, so I can't really say how it compares to other classes in standard. From a few games, it does feel very broken but I'm trying to figure out whether that's just good cards across the board or a few cards.
- Imprisoned Antaen seems to frequently win the game on the spot, to the extent that I often want to keep it in my opening hand, even in a deck full of 0/1/2 mana plays
- Skull of Gul'dan seems to break the game open on the spot if it's played with Outcast. I think you auto keep it if its the leftmost card, and otherwise you hope to draw it and play it
- Eye Beam is very easy to set up: if it's stuck in the middle, if you play whatever is to the left, even if that loses tempo, you will make it back the second you play Eye Beam.
- Kayn Sunfury seems really underwhelming, which I think is just showing how powerful the rest of the DH stuff is
I gave my 8yo an (untuned) standard DH deck and she smashed me playing wild odd rogue and standard dragon hunter. I've currently set her loose on the ranked ladder to see how far she goes.
I had a control priest curve out imprisoned humunculous into Apotheosis on turn 3 so he had a 4/8 taunt with lifesteal on turn 3. He also managed to draw breath of the infinite and holy nova.
I still beat him.
Right now my record against DH with non DH classes is 0-7. My record against non DH classes with the generic DH deck that Blizz put together is 5-2. My record against non DH classes with my own custom DH deck is 8-1.
Blizzard intentionally powercreeps with every expansion to make sure that people dump money on card packs. They want to make sure that your old cards and old collection are worthless when an expansion drops. Then, once as many people as possible have reached into their wallets, Blizzard will finally nerf the overpowered shit they just released.
It's honestly disgusting.
Agreed, that's fucking disgusting, and it's beyond obvious that they've done this on purpose. I understand that it's worse from their perspective to make DHs too weak, but they went way overboard

I would not call it disgusting, it's something that every gaming company do, it's not Blizz related only, the way i see it its a win win situation, the dust i will get after the nerfs will help us improve our collection, I already smell 10k or so free dust after the nerfs, tho no gonna lie, the game play is very very fun and fluid, the problem i see it everything click so good together it will be almost impossible for blizz to nerf dh without shitting on the class, while im annoy how strong they are i find the expansion fun so far, i seen 5/6 different type of decks so far, can't say the same about past expansions
You're a cuck. Plain and simple. It's pathetic how you bend over backwards to defend Blizzard when they're clearly in the wrong. Just because "every other company does it", it doesn't make it right. Getting some free dust doesn't matter when the game isn't fun because it's completely imbalanced for weeks.
I don't bend over i just tell you how reality is for kids like you, I'm a grown-up that works for my money not like you a kid that mommy pay for everything, with this shitty an attitude I'm not even sure why the fuck are you here, move to another game or shut the fuck up and don't whine like a 12y kid, in the end the conclusion is simple, do you enjoy the game? YES? play it and support blizzard, you don't enjoy the game? Leave and play another game, but nooo wankers like you have to whine and insult others because they don't see it like you, pathetic
It's an embarrassment for Blizzard. Shows that whoever they have as game testers are on holiday or useless. On turn 9 I drew 12 cards and did 24 damage with lifesteal through 2 taunts for lethal. Everyone in high legend can't believe how much they dropped the ball on this
Im in plat been playing against a few DH ,almost every other game,i play rogue, they are beatable, NOT a cake walk though :/ it feels like some matches are blow for blow, some matches are good games and I come out on top, some are good games and I come out on bottom, some games I can’t do a damn thing cause they have so many tools, they don’t feel as oppressive as some of the broken decks from the past like token Druid for example but they have some really strong cards, im not the one to complain and not give a solution though, changing mana cost for some cards so they can’t pressure with big cards every turn or making that 10/6 a 10/4 maybe even 10/5 would be a good change
I think that DH is too OP. I mean, let us take Ur'zul Horror and compare it with Small-Time Buccaneer; a card with was nerfed because 2 health was too good considering the synergy with Rogue hero power. I mean, Ur'zul Horror is much more powerful, considering that DH can attack easily every turn, specially considering Twin Slice. In the worst case scenario, and I have lived it, your opponent can do in turn 1 with a coin a double Ur'zul Horror and an attack with Twin Slice, and this is just one example. Also, having a hero power which just costs 1 is too strong, as it makes it much more easier than other class to curve well. It would be much more fair cost 2: gain 1 attack and 1 life; or, even better, gain 2 attack and lose 2 lives.
Fuck blizzard. it's like they didn't even bother playtesting their game. They get insane tempo, insane boardclear, insane healing, and they still get strong control tools and finishers like Imprisoned Antaen. I've even tried playing decks to directly counter DH, and they can just burst so much on one turn by slamming down Antaen, waiting 2 turns, and then hitting you with the 10 damage from that + whatever weapon/attack they get. I thought blizzard said they didn't like decks that weren't very intractable gut I guess not :/
As for Imprisoned Antaen the situation is ever worse. It is not just a finisher. It create great Swing turns, and, unlike Reno, you cannot defend yourself by not putting minions or trading everything before its awaken, because it goes to your face. Also, if by any chance some minion survive with 2 lives, it is so easy for DH to make value trades that in practice, it easily is a board clearer.
There's way too many cards this class has that are blatantly overtuned and need to get reined in before we can even judge the class for what it is. I see 5 that are really the most screwed up as follows:
1. Skull of Gul'dan is far and away the most ridiculous card in the set and is the worst offender in terms of raw power. I mean, it feels like it's a legendary spell, and has more impact than the demon hunter's own legendary spell while being a RARE. The outcast requirement is irrelevant when half of their hand basically costs 0 and they can stack one skull into another the way they do. It needs to lower card costs by 2 and cost 6 at the very least, i don't know. Just throw the whole card away.
2. Battlefiend is an obscene 1-drop, easily in the running for the best ever made next to Tunnel Trogg. They get two of these back to back turn 1 and 2 (which happened to me a lot) and it's basically a wrap right then and there. They do not need a card like this at all when their early game is already so solid. Why does it start as a 2/2? Why does it cost 1? It's just senseless the way it is. i don't even know if turning it into a 1/2 is enough with this one.
3.Imprisoned Antaen is inherently disgusting as a concept. The fact that it's a 10/6 that deals 10 damage is one thing, but what really hurts is that it's unstoppable. This sort of card needs some kind of counter, even if it's non-targeted removal only, etc. just SOMETHING to make it seem like it's not over once it drops. I even had someone play 2 of them one turn after the other, and i dropped a Flik Skyshiv just hoping it would maybe take both of them out, but i was completely wrong. Even a card that says "destroy all copies of a minion wherever they are" does not affect this thing coming out and tearing your board apart. It needs to deal 8 damage and be an 8/4, or 10 damage to minions only.
4. Priestess of Fury is literally Ragnaros the Firelord, except that it's arguably better. It's cheaper and can actually attack for only one less damage, and the fact that the damage is split up only helps it shread a board apart with little to no effort. When Ragnaros was out, you could always hope that a couple low cost minions would be out on your board and get targeted to save you the huge amount of damage, but that's not relevant with this card at all. Once again, this is a RARE. She needs to cost 6 mana, deal 5 damage and be a 5/6.
5. Altruis the Outcast I don't hate as a card, but its support is so extreme with all these class cards that cost nothing to play that it's almost impossible to see it in a fair light. Just like these cards i mentioned before it rips through a board with nothing but upside, and the risk is minimal for a class who wants huge turns to begin with and has easy and unparalleled card draw. However, i think the real problem with this one is that it hits face simultaneously. If it just dealt 1 damage to minions each, i believe this one would be fine.
For anyone saying "just wait - it's a new deck, people need to adjust, yadda yadaa" You realise the same argument should apply to the DH decks as well. They should be worse right now than they will be in a couple of weeks when they've been refined. Secondly, it should take people some time to learn the best way to play the decks as well (unless of course the decks require no thinking and play themselves...)
People should try and learn to be objective in their thoughts. So much of this debate (and in the world more generally) seems to revolve around "well I'm having fun - it can't be wrong - git gud scrub". Several of these cards are so objectively overpowered when evaluated on their own that you would include them in pretty much every DH deck without thinking. Couple them with the synergy which has obviously been included in the cards and they just become oppresive.
While it's clear that any card game like Hearthstone will always have an element of "build a deck to to reflect the meta", the meta should never end with one deck and one counter deck (though im not sure we even have that yet). That's the result of poor balancing.
Just played my first game with DH and oh boy, do i feel dirty. The class just doesn't have any weakness at all, can adept to every situation. Too bad it's so much fun to play^^

Best healing - DH. Best silence - DH. Best OTK - DH. Best aggro - DH. Best weapons - DH.
And I thought overkill was bad design...

Works exactly as intended.
I’ve been playing DH all day. Awesome class with great cards. There’s no cards I would say are OP at all, it has almost perfect balance.
DH is my new fav class!

Hs replay only track info on guys who installed deck tracker - i don't have one for example, but have Ok winrate against DH
imprinoned antaen gonna be nerfed for sure
OP card, like wtf hahahaha

I don't even know why I am paying money for the pre-purchase. The demon hunter given cards is OP enough to rank anyway. What a waste of money.
