The Galakrond hero for Warlock is very very bad, specifically its battle cry. Priest clears half a board, Rouge gives you 4 cards to play for free, Shaman gives you 2 (4?) 8/8 Minions. Now Warrior is sit in Wild, actually it’s not just sit, its f*cking terrible, but its doing well currently in Standard.
Warlock Galakrond though is horrible in Standard. The reason is the battle cry, not the decks built around it necessarily, as they’res some good mid-ranged Galakrond Warlock decks. The battlecry states “Summon 4 Random Demons”. The thing is the Demons are always f*cking horrid, especially in standard. Playing Galakrond is meant to turn the tides in your favour. I’ve lost games against Shamans, just from them playing Galakrond. With Warlock though, the 4 random demons isn’t even enough to deal with most aggro decks. Play any of the other Galakronds fully upgraded against an aggro deck and you’ve most likely won, but Warlocks Galakrond doesn’t help at all. And usually against control decks, the 4 demons are a breeze to deal with. Whilst the 4 8/8 from Shaman are a hassle if you don’t have any board clear.
I played a game the other day. I got 3 Voidcallers, like I usually expect 1, but 3. Now also the game I played 5 minutes ago, I got a 3/3, a 3/4. a 8/8 and a fcking 0/1. The 8/8 got polymorph and the 3 attack minions were no threat at all, the 0/1 was a waste of space. I will admit Galakrond is a little better in wild, because at least you can get a “Voidlord” or a “Mal’Ganis”, but you’ve still got a high chance of getting sit Demons. They’res just way too many crappy Demons. One demon I’ve been getting a lot is “Sathorvarr”. A s*itty 5/5, is that meant to be my 10 cost Demon
Blizzard needs to change Galakronds Battlecry to “Summon 4 Demons that Cost 6 or More” Or create better demons in standard
It's not always about the battecry effect. The hero power is very good in combination with many of the warlock cards used in standard and allows for a board of minions pretty much every turn. Even the battlecry is OK in my opinion. Sometimes you low-roll, sometimes you high-roll - just the nature of the game these days. Just wait till you pull 4 dormant demons and then see how sad you are!
p.s. Even though the battelcry effect is quite good at max level, the priest galakrond is actcually (currently) one of the worst, as the minions you get from the invoke have no synergy with the galakrond package/decks (generally). As i said - it's not always about the battlecry effect
I don't think the dormant minions will be able to be summoned from battlecries.
Why not? I'm not saying you're not correct, but I haven't seen aynthing to suggest that. All I've seen is that dormant minions that require some sort of activator (eg the Darkness) can no longer be discovered from evolve and summon effects.
The battlecry is fine. The deck is very consistent and can deal with most of the threads fairly easily and does have many power turns the opponent has difficulties to answer.
The battlecry is not for dealing with aggro but to put stats on the board for your opponent to deal with.
If you play it on a board full of enemy minions you're doing it just wrong
I don't think the dormant minions will be able to be summoned from battlecries.
I think the problem is rather some dormant minions couldn't be awaken w/o their battlecries like Magtheridon /any card with The Darkness mechanic/ which is even greater bummer for Galalock
Galakrond Warlock gives you random demons, and random is random. Trust me, when you play against me, you will get your extreme highroll you think you deserve.
And even when you lowroll, the Battlecry does what it is intended to do. It refills the board, and pressures the opponent into having more answers, after every other invoke card you played before was filling the board and forced your opponent to deal with it. The hero power synergizes extremely well with cards like Grim Rally (leaving soon) and Plague of Flames, and Veiled Worshipper is a very good support card for any deck, making Galakrond Warlock a somewhat flexible archetype.
The card is reasonably strong, and fine as it is. You are not supposed to play Galakrond and win immediately with over 20/20 in summoned stats.
Compare that with Priest, who got the slowest, super random hero power and the least impactful invoke plays, the only reactive battlecry that might not even do much, Fate Weaver doesn't give you an extra advantage but rather compensates for how bad the hero power is, and none of it synergizes with anything in Priest, outside of stressing once more that Priest is the slowest class in the game.
You might just have been unlucky in some games in a row. I climbed to Legend with Galakrond Warlock through January and February, and the outcomes were far more times game ending than back breaking, by far. It's the same way Galakrond Rogue can do a 50 mana turn or also draw 2 Backstabs and 2 Pharao Cats as well.
Against Priest or Control Warrior the Galakrond board will rarely give them problems unless they drew extremely poor. But that's not how you kill them anyway. It always involves a combination with Alex + some board damage, finishing with burn, being them the weapon, Nether Breaths and Zephrys. Same for Mage, though they can always brick and have far less control tools.
There are now even bigger demons coming to the pool, and some crappy ones leaving, so if anything, Galakrond will become better.

Agree.
I made a Galakrond Control Priest without the resurrect package and added some dragons with support for it so if you want to check it out and have all the cards I would recommend it. Currently, I have 58% winrate with it (44-32).
In an interview they have said that they changed how random minion summoning(and evolve effect) works in regard to dormant minions. Only minions that awaken on their own you will be able to get through those effects.

Warlock Galakrond concept is just different.
It's not always about the battecry effect. The hero power is very good in combination with many of the warlock cards used in standard and allows for a board of minions pretty much every turn. Warlock is aggro
shamand is control
Priest is control
You won't be able to recover if it's more than 3 demons lol.

I stopped reading after you called rogue "rouge".
Control Galakrond Warlock gets a big powerspike in AoO. Not only is demon pool better, but 2x Sac Pac makes it a natural counter to Demon Hunter.
Agree.

Galakrond and Pirate Warriors are low tier 1/high tier 2 decks in Wild, what are you talking about? And Odd Warrior is playable.
Did you mean Warlock? Because Warlock is the 2nd best class in wild.
In an interview they have said that they changed how random minion summoning(and evolve effect) works in regard to dormant minions. Only minions that awaken on their own you will be able to get through those effects.
In hsreplay, warlock Galakrond has the 2nd highest win rate. They are all 50% or better, though. It goes
Rogue, Warlock, Warrior, Priest, Shaman
You mean
Tier S : Galakrond Highlander Roque
Tier 1: Mech Paladin, Dragon Hunter, Highlander Hunter
....
