Quite often anytime someone tries to have a meaningful conversation about problems in HS, "Salt thread link:" "There's a salt thread for that". It's just really annoying how this website is a forum for Hearthstone, but now it seems as if the only place someone is allowed to talk to in a moderately annoyed tone is the salt thread. And who actually reads what the salt thread users say? It's like writing in a diary: I am mad. Big Priest is bad. What do you think? I would like to get Kaladin's opinion on this.
Salt thread isn't the problem. Smart asses pretending they're contributing to a conversation by redirecting genuine questions to the salt thread - are the problem.
No one reads the salt thread these days, i just ignore it and post anyways. I agree this site just has way too many passive agressive users who instead of listing why they disagree with something would rather just say 'go to the salt thread' and hope they get upvotes from pther passive agressive users
It's a fair question -- if there wasn't one, would those thoughtless dolts just skip the reply vs. pointing to the salt thread?
On the other hand there are lots of times someone thinks they're starting a good discussion about something, but start it off with such a negative and non-constructive tone that I'm glad everyone is salt-threading them. It's kind of like a tech thread.
Sometimes the salt thread is a godsend. By itself, the thread is one of the most amazing features of Hearthpwn. So... no, I don't think it was a bad idea.
Of course, it is always very convenient to dismiss all criticism as salt, and I do believe the salt link to be the laziest reply possible in Hearthpwn, tied with the small indie company meme.
But think about it this way: posting the salt thread is no different from saying "OP is salty" and calling it a day. The argument does not get stronger just because there is a link attached to it. Usually you should either ignore it (because the person, quite literally, could not think of anything else to argue against you) or reply with about as much effort.
And this is coming from a person who despises the Salt Thread link as a shield from criticism.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
The problem is that nowdays people don't even take the time and/or want to argue about any topic they disagree on, it's like if that certain topic slightly differs from what they think they just say it's salty and link the salt thread,
Having a salt thread is a good idea cause sometimes people just need to ventilate all their frustration and it would be pointless for them to create a new thread for this every time, the issue is that the salt thread is such a meme at this point that no one really cares and/or interacts on the thread itself, it's just angry comment after angry comment with no relation in between.

That's sort of the point of the salt thread though. A good number of people who rant don't really want to HAVE a debate. If you present a counter argument they just get more bothered and start flaming. Some even say that they just wanted to vent without having 'the entire community jumping on them'.
That's where the salt thread comes in. it leaves people free to rant without the risk of getting hit by a 10 page essay about why they are wrong or why they are being rude by slamming that aggro player. Meanwhile it leaves me a bit more assured that every thread here IS something I can expect to have a debate on.
Besides, chances are I doubt the 'auto-salt-thead' posters were going to leave you alone if the thread didn't exist. Instead they would just say you're being salty and for you to 'quit your whining' instead. Jerks use every excuse they can use to do their thing, but they don't NEED those excuses to be jerks.
I may miss alot though but really, in most threads if a debatable topic is supplied the 'OMG SALT THREAD' posts tend to get pushed aside in favor of said debate. Usually when I see a thread ONLY go full 'salt thread reply' is when the poster seems more interested in just posting their viewpoint and leaves no room open for the rest of the community like a question to be answered or some debate points to argue about.
The problem is that nowdays people don't even take the time and/or want to argue about any topic they disagree on, it's like if that certain topic slightly differs from what they think they just say it's salty and link the salt thread.
It's not that. It's that when you've read your 30th Nerf Rogue Thread in 2 hours it gets a little...... Annoying?
Why can't people use the Search Function and add to the clamour of comments already here?

I agree there, I feel like a Moderaters job here is 90% reminding people that the thread they just made is already on the front fricking page of discussions. It's annoying and also annoying is posters who keep linking to the salt thread, the mods need to start issuing out warnings for repeatedly doing that. It doesn't add anything useful to the discussion, it's a clear violation of "forum trolling" and even if OPs topic is stupid, 2 wrongs don't make a right.
And people redirect you to the salt thread because you made a ridiculous post telling blizzard to delete priest from the game. That is not meaningful discussion. You deserve another redirect because you're salty about being salty. Your post about priest is literally rambling and complaining. Just a typical salt post. Should I post it here for everyone to see?
I have referred people to the salt thread lots of times. Look if people want a discussion about a certain topic that's completely fine. But when people's threads come down to: "I hate this deck because I just lost to it" it's not a discussion; it's salt.
Present arguments, keep a decent tone and reply nicely to people. The vast majority of the threads fail to do this, and they don't want a discussion but rather people who agrees.
A last thing: the salt thread prevents spamming of identical topics because people won't bother searching for "nerf bomb warrior".
If you think a thread is attempting to foster actual discussion about a topic, and somebody links to the Salt Thread, please do report them for non-constructive posting.
I find that a large majority of the times it is linked, the original post wasn't attempting to start a discussion, and at best was just rehashing a topic which already has several threads about it.
However, there are certainly people who get trigger-happy in linking to it, and reporting them is the best way to deal with them.

'Genuine questions' are not redirected to Salt thread... at least I've never seen it happen. Stupid senseless cry-threads are getting redirected (that's what I've seen). People keep opening threads to every single card/class that they lost against, and it really makes this forum a worse place...
,, what if all of the nerf threads.... were bad idea,,
Duplicate threads, whinning about cards/decks all the time. Yeah, thats not annoying to see on this forum every 2mins.
Lastly, peoole got too salty, that they demand the nerf to the fucking ,,Coin,, and hunters ,,Tracking,, i mean cmooooon. (Cant link atm bcs im on my phone, but you can search for those threads)

Not to mention, people are heavily making threads about nerfs lately. If someone wants to discuss them, they shouldn't create new pages but rather post in already open ones.

The Salt Thread is fine, the problem is simple minded folk would rather point you there than actually have a meaningful discussion.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
We don't need another "Tier one deck bad" thread. We've already gotten 30 of em this week. Same goes for "blizzard greedy". We get it.

You're the last person who should talk about the integrity of the forum.

Just because you've been salt threaded there is no need to start a new discussion! Please go go to the salt thread.
Well i think allowing aggro players in casual to be born is an even worse idea,but.. here we are...
