If you think about it,the most crazy game play is available when a new expansion launches, when everyone tries new decks, when some meme decks win a lot and so on.But after the meta is formed,we just go back to that boring routine and we have to play decks made by others to win.
I think that if a game has a meta,is like a disease(more or less dangerous),wouldn't you like to see different decks each game?To face 20 deck ideas in a day?We also say(some of us) that hearthstone is not complex, but at the end of the day we are the ones(including me)that let this "meta" to make us think hs need to change and etc. What if all of us played something different from others, what if all of us made our own decks and so on.Meta may sometimes be a good friend, but after a long time it becomes a mighty foe.
If you think that hs is meta friendly, let me know, tell me your ideas. But in the end my opinion is that every game has a meta, but depends on every game how much that is affecting / helping. Not very good for hearthstone tough....
If by 'meta friendly' you mean the capacity of absorbing deck archetypes into the meta powerlevel, then no, HS is quite meta unfriendly, and it is a big concern of mine tbh.
Only few decks pass the trial of the meta. Too few.
And too many are left to bare viability at best.
Unfortunately, i have no idea of how to soften that gap.
If it is ok for hs to have a meta, for example a lot of players are playing odd pally just because everyone else is playing it and so they can't win if they don't play some control
What in the world does meta friendly even mean lol?
If you mean just literally "to have a meta" ( I think that's what you mean) then there's literally nothing that anyone can ever do for there not to be a meta so your question makes no sense and it's kinda very silly, not trying to be offensive but it's the truth.
Every single online game with pvp has some kind of meta, it's not even a thing of just card games, shooters have metas (certain weapons or characters are better than others), MOBAs have metas (better and worse characters or abilites i.e.), sports games have metas (Some teams or players are bound to be better) so "not having a meta" can never be a thing, there are classes, decks and cards that are better and people share them one way or another, either via streams or youtube videos, or on twitter and general internet forums like this one, if a deck or an archetype is good it'll definitely find a way under the spotlight and become popular, it's imposible to stop it, specially nowdays where everything's a click away.
On the matter of if "having a meta" is good or bad well it depends. It's cool to "know" what deck you're playing against as it rewards skill and general knowledge but it can be boring to play against a certain deck or group of decks a lot but that has to do more with the fact of what cards does blizzard prints, what I mean is that if blizz doesn't print ridiculous cards for some classes and instead printed solid and fun cards for all classes then you wouldn't feel tired playing against those decks as every game would be fun and joyful. Believe it or not, a huge amount of variety can be extremely frustrating as losing to random card #343249 can be plain out disgusting and dumb. But again, there's literally nothing that can be done, there will always be a meta, no matter what, people like winning and when they see a deck that wins a lot they'll just start copying it or playing their own, slightly modified version, even if blizzard just printed amazing fun cards for now on, there will always be a meta and meta decks, on that case it would just be a fun an entertaining meta to play on.
Only the meta in Standard is awfully repetitive when you above rank 21.
So when you are borded from Standard, play some low rank games in Wild for some "fresh air" and then go back again in your "small meta bunker" of Standard. ^^
Blizzard should make a special stream lessons or youtube videos in which they explain the the only way hs should be played is with supa dupa 1000 IQ control/combo homebrewed decks and 30 minutes long match is a minimum time period that proves you're not braindead blah blah something etc.

HS is just too linear and one-dimensional to have a large number of viable constructed decks. No graveyard interaction, little deck buff abilities, beyond a Keleseth highroll, no first strike, no flying, no trample. More decks in the meta requires a larger pool of strong mechanics. By 'strong' mechanic, I am talking about the difference between discover and inspire. Discover is something people use, where inspire has always been trash and might as well not even exist. Same goes for enrage. Rush was much more interesting, but was more a cudgel to beat certain archetypes into trade-oriented builds than anything that make the game have more variety. Some of it is poor execution, compare HS handbuff to Eternal's warcry - very similar effects, but warcry is a viable tool that many decks are built around where handbuff is just inconsistent RNG that never sees play outside of memes.
Meta=you play the most popular build&heroes(dota 2),you play decks made by others(hs),you do anything made by someone else and not yourself(after you learnt the basics and you are a decent player) over and over again so you can adapt to the "meta".Meta kills creativity,qb_maximus.....Some games benefit from it some don't so that is what meta friendly means, sry I can't also draw but i hope you understand.

Wtf is meta friendly?

I play wild only with non-meta decks quite successfuly, rank5+.
Hit legend with Even Handlock and Egg Hunter :)
So if you want to change something, start with yourself.
F2P can't afford to have fun in wild with crazy decks, sry that would not work
Just play Wild on the lower ranks!

Well true, wild is a bit of fresh air
Just depends on when u started playing. If at least one year ago, u can build interesting and competitive decks by crafting minimum cards.

Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
Hearthstone is a very tedious game currently due to to talentless netdeckers thinking they can all go to blizzcon all playiong the same decks
Hardly any skill needed apart from your deck searching skills
