I found this post from 2016 since i was asking myself the same question for the current state of game...
What do you think, how is it 2019 and why?
For me wild seems easier...but i invested also a lot more time to wild then standard, because i figured ist boring.
I also need to add, that i have almost a full card collection
Wild. Players there are, more often than not, a lot worse than the players in standard. This is mainly because there is no real incentive for good players to play wild.
Wild is easier, but that is particularly true at low ranks.
MOREOVER, despite the number of broken interactions in Wild, the mode grants you much more chances to climb with a Homebrew deck (as long as you know what you're doing).
And that's NOT because Wild opponents are dumb, but because the wider collection allows you better synergy and filler options for your decks.
So that also adds to the feeling of Wild as the easier mode overall.

not just bad players,
There are different reasons behind that.
1-) Firstly, There are wild netdecks yes but there are not a "great" tier list for wild so they can't adapt the meta with themselves because they don't know how to build a deck. (mostly)
2-) Even there are netdecks, they don't know how to ride it. (ehm) So They always prefer to play old tier decks which they "learnt" how to play with them before. It causes them the same thing. They can't adapt when new cards came and they also don't know to change their deck with older cards. For example for Odd/Even decks. I rarely saw older cards than un'goro in Odd/even decks.
3-) Again, Even there are netdecks, There are no streamers who plays with them, so they can't watch how they run the decks, what decisions players choose in different situations. So They stay as "bad players". Some can improve themselves in time, i guess. (edit: This is how i improve myself for example; by playing. I never watch streams or youtube channels. Just funny moments sometimes.)
Mostly these reasons make wild "seem" easier but it becomes harder than standard as long as you reach higher ranks.
The difficulty level modifier works like;
in standard, in wild,
- rank 20 to 15 = 1x rank 20 to 15 = 1x - rank 15 to 10 = 1,5x rank 15 to 10 = 1,5x - rank 10 to 5 = 2x rank 10 to 5 = 3x - rank 5 to Leg = 3x rank 5 to Leg = 4x
Well, Although it is harder to reach legend, it is funnier than standard too. At least for me. You can see much more decks, combinations, synergies, and RNG cards (for burgle mechanic and discover mechanic for example).

Memedeck-seeker. Always tries to build new decks. Hates tournements, streamers, netdecks and poor-o players. ah, but a tournement mode could be great !!!
The statement that wild players are less good players than standard players is rubbish. The card combinations in wild have a higher powerlevel than in standard so player skill is less of a determining factor in the outcome of matches.
You have access to all cards, you can play/create the best OP decks. And you face people with less skills than in standard format, just because almost no serious competitive player plays wild
The notion that at higher ranks wild players suddenly become way better couldn't be further from the truth. Players at higher ranks usually get carried by the decks that they play. They do indeed netdeck, but the majority of them netdeck the strongest, easiest to play decks such as even shaman and big priest.
These decks are strong enough that even shitty players can easily get to high ranks with them.
I have personally encountered multiple even shamans who throw crackles and jade claws at my face in the earlier turns (keep in mind that these were mirror matches). This happened to me at ranks 3-1, arguably the most competitive ranks. I've also seen similar behavior at higher legend ranks.
This doesn't happen in standard, at least not to my knowledge.

Aren't you contradicting yourself here? If skill is less of a deciding factor in wild then how come wild players aren't worse than standard players?
Wild is not easy at all if you're not playing a degenerate aggro/combo netdeck yourself.
And I don't think wild players are worse than standard players, its' just that they care less about ranks and stuff, all the insecure people are in standard.

Well once you are in the legend ranks (at least me) i try to start again new decks since im not that much performance oriented as when im at rank 1. That for sure can explain some missplays...
And tbh...when you play standard there is absolutely the same phenomenon about netdecking. From rank 8 to lrgend you pretty much meet just the streamer netdecks.

Wild is much better for creativity and fun for sure. You should be joking.

There is no real incentive (with the new qualification system) for good players to play ladder...
There is no cancer deck in hearthstone ! You are the Cancer !
Wild is definitely easier, I went to legend on both last season, and I got to wild with a lot less decks.

Wild is a freaking clown fiesta.
