Let's start off by congratulating the top-voted finalists of our Jousting competition. Fantastic work! And we'll be reaching out to our winner to help us determine what's in store for you all next week.
As we all know, there are some minion types that are heavily or even exclusively associated with particular classes: Demons with Warlocks, Pirates with Rogues, Murlocs with Shamans, etc. But of course, as new expansions continue to come out, we'll likely continue to get thrown new curve-balls like:
Your challenge this week is to throw us one of those curve-balls.
Entry Restrictions:
You must select one of the following minion types: Beast, Demon, Murloc, or Pirate. (Note that we have deliberately not included Dragons, Mechs, or Totems as options.)
Your card must either be a minion of that type, produce a minion of that type (whether by summoning, transforming, or whatever), or have specifically explicit synergy with minions of that type.
Your card must be a class card. No neutral cards allowed.
If you choose Pirate, your card cannot be a Rogue card.
If you choose Murloc, your card cannot be a Paladin or Shaman card.
If you choose Demon, your card cannot be a Warlock card.
If you choose Beast, your card cannot be a Druid or Hunter card. (We disagreed on how/whether to count Polymorph and Hex, so we compromised that you are allowed Mage and Shaman Beasts, but not if they achieve the week's theme via transform effects.)
Your card should, obviously, fit within your chosen class's theme. We understand that some tribe-class combinations may feel like a stretch, so please feel free to explain yourself if you're not sure whether what you're going for is immediately obvious.
Clarification: The class restriction for the third rule only applies to the chosen minion type for the first rule. So, for example, if you choose Murloc and decide to make a Rogue minion that summons Murlocs, it's fine if that minion also happens to itself be a Pirate.
UPDATE: We will be disqualifying entries with tags that do not make thematic sense. Pandaren and Tauren are not Beasts, Ships are not Pirates, Undead are not Demons, Fish are not Murlocs, etc.
Competition Rules
We, the Fan Creation Forum Moderators, may edit and/or disqualify your entry if you neglect the competition's rules, so please read carefully. These measures are designed to ensure everyone has a fair and enjoyable experience during the contests!
You are allowed to submit one (1) entry per competition. Your entry must be a card of your own creation. You may add minimal comments to explain your card's design, balance, and/or qualities. You may not significantly alter your card once it has been submitted. (Although minor tweaks, such as to adjust balance or correct spelling errors, are acceptable.) You may not delete your submission post. Manipulating votes in any way is strictly forbidden. Any violators will receive a warning and a possible ban / disqualification from future contests. Any discussion of entries, ideas, and so on should take place in this week's designated Discussion Topic. This is the Submission Topic, and it is for submission posts and up-voting only. Recent New Rule - So called "troll entries" can be submitted but will not be able to advance to the final. Fun entries are OK, but outright, unbalanced parodies are not. If you're unsure, check with a moderator before submitting. Recent New Rule -You MUST upload your submission to a site that stores images, for example Imgur.com, Photobucket.com etc. This is for your own good as Hearthcards only keeps your image for a limited time and sometimes has problems resulting in lost images.
Competition Process
Entry Phase and Early Voting (Starts 20:00 UTC 20/August/2015, Ends 18:00 UTC 25/August/2015) It is during this Phase that you may submit entries to the Submission Topic. You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like!
Voting Phase (Starts 18:00 UTC 25/August/2015, Ends 18:00 UTC 26/August/2015) During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites!
Final Phase (Starts 19:00 UTC 26/August/2015, Ends 19:00 UTC 27/August/2015) During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a new Poll Topic will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Poll Topic, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and a 24-hour poll to decide the winner of the competition!
How do we determine the qualifying finalists? First, we'll take the highest-voted entry on each page of the submission topic. Then, we'll fill in the rest using the formula detailed here...
(abc) / (de) = x
Where, a = The total number of up-votes in the entire topic. b = The total number of submissions on the same page as the submission. c = The total number of up-votes that the submission received. d = The total number of pages that the entire topic spanned. e = The total number of up-votes on the same page as the submission. x = The submission's final score.
It might seem a bit complex and convoluted, but the bottom line is that, although entries on the earlier pages of the Submission Topic are much more visible and thus receive many more up-votes than entries on later pages, you don't actually have to rush to get your entry in as soon as possible because the up-votes end up being weighted by what page your entry ends up on in order to determine its final score. It will be the ~15-25 entries that receive the highest final scores (depending on the popularity of this week's competition) that move on to the Final Phase. The spreadsheet showing the final scores of every submission will be released after each competition.
But wait, there's more! During each Weekly Card Design Competition, each Fan Creation Forum moderators will be given a Wild Card, which they can use to advance any one entry that they feel was initially overlooked or under-appreciated to the Final Phase, regardless of its final score. Wild Cards are our way of spicing things up a bit, but please don't ask to be given one or be upset if you aren't given one. These are just supposed to be fun. (Also, it should go without saying that, while we moderators are allowed to participate in the competitions, we are not allowed to benefit from Wild Cards.)
Rewards
To encourage your competitive spirit, we do of course offer a few rewards to competition winners: Their card forever immortalized in our Winners' Gallery! The power to choose the theme for a future competition! A unique Avatar Border & "Card Design Champion" Title, as depicted below!
"Is it worth teaching a bird how to cast Frostbolt? Only if you give it enough food not to peck you.. or worse.."
Opted to go for a more combo-ish card, can easily get free spell damage post-E.T., works with Rhonin's deathrattle spells, Freeze Mage combos, useful in tempo for that extra ping, I chose a simple, yet effective type of card, it might not appeal to many of you, but I like the card's idea overall, I hope you like it too!
Lore/Theme explanation - This is a boss monster from the Monster Hunter series. It is one of the sneakiest, therefore made into a rogue card and has a strong stealth theme as well. Has a nasty spike tail attack, that's where the effect comes from. Warcraft lorewise - you can just pretend it is a one of those nasty beastiest Nesingwary hunts. :D
Balance explanation - I like low costed legendaries, the game needs more of those. Meant as a tool against aggro. I think it is quite powerful but since it is a legendary, it is quite unreliable to get it early game. Has only 3 health so it dies to a lot of AoE, Flamecannon, quite a lot of things.
Druid would likely have a 5 drop in hand anyway so the draw loss can be made up in board presence, though you can still draw if you really wish.
If you play this as a 6/5 and pass, you won't draw a card next turn. If you play this on turn 10, choose to skip your draw andInnervate into Ancient of Lore, you'll draw only one card.
Notes: disqualify - that's a felhound if i'm not mistaken
Rare 5/3 Stealth rouge Demon for 4 mana with shadow madness for weapons. I wanted to make this guy competitive in terms of stats so I might of over budgeted the stats with stealth but it is a class card so I thought it'd be fine to make him a bit more powerful. I like how TGT has given us some amount of Satyr art in terms of warlock spells but we need some minions and thematically it makes sense to include in rouge.
Played sound: "The shadows call".
Attack Sound: "DON'T TOUCH ME".
Death Sound: "You caught me!"
EDIT: took the 5/3 down to 5/2 to balance the card a bit.
This is the Submission Topic. The Discussion Topic is here.

Competition #30 - Clash of Clans
This week's theme comes from zartgruen, whose "Aluna" was crowned start of our "Heroes of Hearthstone" competition one week ago.

It's a warrior card because it interacts with the target minion being damaged, much like Execute.

A demonic mage to cast the biddings of Polymorph for the user.
The thought behind this is to help combine the ability of a 2 mana demon and a spell into a nice 2 in 1 with a higher late game mana cost.

Hi. (Sorry for bad english)
Very good in an aggressive MurLock.
Murloc Soul
Give a man a Murloc, and he'll eat for a day.
Give him a Murloc Knight, and people will hate him.
Synergizes well with Mage and gives Murloc decks more reach.
