This Week's Finalists
Entry Restrictions:
Your card must be a Minion, and that minion must be depicted in the card's artwork as having a beard.
Your minions must include an effect that triggers as a result of the minion being damaged. Enrage effects are an obvious example, but we'll also accept effect like those from Acolyte of Pain, Frothing Berserker, and Grim Patron.
We have whittled down ~150 entries to just 22 of the community's favorites.

I fear my card might have suffered from a case of the 'Go Boom!'s, where people only liked it in the voting poll, just because they though it was OP... But who knows?
Also, it seems my card name was misspelled in the poll (yes, the Innkeeper is actually called Harth Stonebrew).
Give a man a Murloc, and he'll eat for a day.
Give him a Murloc Knight, and people will hate him.
Very happy people seem to like my card! Tried to make something simple and realistic but with options for synergy in a number of deck types!
Darn! I wish I'd made it! :P
Well, I'll go for the next best thing - Go Jug Knifer!
please consider voting for my custom class in the fan creations competition :]
• TRIALS IN AUCHINDOUN - A Custom Hearthstone Adventure (4th Wing!) • New and Interesting Hearthstone Mechanics (by me!) •
Well now I feel silly because I spelled it Harth the first time and then when I went back to double-check and make sure everything was spelled correctly I thought "Harth? That's not right, better fix that.". XP
Unfortunately, I can't edit poll options without resetting the poll entirely. T_T
Puh, I'm pretty unenthused by the finalists this week to be honest. I think Mana Crazed Moonkin is the only one I really like, so I guess I'll just go for that.
Welp, I have a feeling I know what the next theme is going to be, so think I'll start brain storming now.
Welcome to LORE HOUR! Where I judge cards based on lore, combined with choices related to the lore of the card, and its effects.
Clavius by Sinti: Legendary, but not a lore character. Thus, considered a fire mage gnome, with a fire effect. Correct.
Mana Crazed Moonkin by BleedTheLizard: Moonkins actually can't be 'mana crazed'. They are seen as sacred creatures by the night elves, who worship them as guardians of nature. The arcane that moonkins use is not addictive, as it belongs to cosmologic powers. And arcane that is not addictive, does not require mana to fuel itself. Moonkins can't be crazed by mana. NOT correct.
Jugg Knifer by uiasdnmb: It's a gnome. Knife jugglers exist. Correct. (What, you expect me to review this thing seriously?)
Mistress of Disguise by Varolie: The tauren on the art is Cairne Bloodhoof. I know, I know. It's the joke. NOT correct.
Mortar Team by HiMyNameIsSander: Wonderfully lore-correct! Mortar Teams were a unit in Warcraft 3, and have been a staple of dwarven artillery from the beginning to the end! There's even a special mortar team we all love, located in Dun Morogh, in World of Warcraft. VERY correct.
Harth Stonebrew by Firebolts: As it's the innkeeper, this person is 'legendary' to the Hearthstone lore specifically, and exists within that lore. Thus, Correct.
Totempole Stomper by Zukuu: The depiction is that of a Warcraft 3 Tauren, which was indeed a unit who stomped its totempole onto the ground for area of effect damage. Thus, can be named a Totempole Stomper. Correct.
Ambitious Recruit by literleck: Eeer... broken card, but not here to judge that. It's an orc warrior. Orcs generally can't be paladins. Orcs also generally do not ally with paladins. Thus the card art is not fitting to the class. Nor does the name of the orc warrior as 'Ambitious Recruit' give any description. The Ambitious Recruit could be almost anything paladin-related, but alas, it is not paladin-related. NOT correct.
Tainted Orc by Azai88: The card art shows a version of Grom Hellscream in his non-time-warpy-snarpy version. He was in fact a Tainted Orc, so that counts. Tainted by the blood of Mannoroth in fact, and he wasn't alone. Thus, there can be many orcs who were tainted at the time. Most of them were fel orcs, but between the first blood-drinking ritual, and the time these orcs became fel orcs, they were tainted. And thus, Correct.
Tetchy Lich by DKPaladinMDL: Liches can be tetchy. Lich Slap is also a real lich ability. It was used by liches in Icecrown Citadel. It's funny, but... there's the problem. The card art doesn't show a Warcraft lich. Oops. Not correct.
Ethereal Drake by adriamrk: This is actually a pretty hilarious mistake. There are TONS of dragons in Warcraft. Green, bronze, red, blue, chromatic, infinite, twilight, plague... but no, there's not a single Ethereal Drake. What comes very close, though, are the Nether Dragons. This card should've been named Nether Drake, and it would've passed the test. Not correct.
Magnus Longbarrel by Kill_Dash_Nine: It's a dwarf. He's got a rifle. Nobody knows him, thus his legendary status isn't really worth it... but dwarves do like rifles. Correct.
Hamuul Runetotem by Elyxie: Hamuul is an important lore character, and fits his legendary status. His ability is fitting enough, and his stats are too, to depict the strength of Hamuul well. This card is VERY correct.
Wounded Warrior by rdeegan: In the art we see one of the blademasters of the Horde. They can indeed be wounded, they can indeed be warriors, and they can indeed start bleeding out once they get hit. The only issue I have is that the aesthetic is 100% the same as the already existing Injured Blademaster. Which, in all fairness, does guarantee that it's Correct.
Anduin Lothar by Ethenil: Anduin Lothar deserves his legendary tag, and the Avengers of Azeroth are basically what he sent out after the orcs were wrecking his home. It's even fitting to specific lore events, nice job! VERY correct.
Ironforge Mason by BerserkMidget08: Ironforge has dwarves. Ironforge has masons. Ironforge has dwarven masons. Correct.
Algalon the Observer by Neopolitan: This guy very clearly knows his lore, using the exact name of Algalon's prime "attack". Algalon fits the legendary tag, and his high mana cost, high stats, crazy effect status. VERY correct.
Worgen Cultist by GoToTheSatan: You might think this is another Ironforge Mason case, but no. It's a little odd. Worgens, generally, can indeed be cultists. But the thing is... we've NEVER SEEN ONE. There haven't been any worgen in the Twilight Cults. There haven't been any worgen in the Cult of the Damned. BUT THE CREATOR has pointed out that there was in fact a Wolf Cult related to one of the comics for Warcraft, and thus my knowledge fell short: Correct.
Frostwolf Elder by Hassashu: Yeap, my card. Frostwolf clan. Elders. Orcs tend to not be losers when they get older. And they still rage. So, Correct.
Algalon the Observer by CasmX: Both guys who made the Algalon cards looked up their lore about Algalon, or atleast the boss fight in World of Warcraft. Cosmic Smash and Living Constellation specifically are some of Algalon's abilities. Interesting how both people can look at the same character so similarly, yet so differently. Wouldn't be fair to hand out anything else but a VERY correct.
Dark Tinkerer by Shanksyo: Well, here's a fun fact. Mashing up two words doesn't always make sense. What also doesn't make sense, is a tinkerer giving Shadowform. The 'tinkerer' aspect of this card only reflects itself in the fact that the art has a shadowy gnome on it. Gnomes are not always tinkerers, neither are ghost gnomes. I'm not giving this one a pass. The name isn't suitable for the art and the effect. NOT correct.
Aldor Gatekeeper by MardyVauino: Thematically, very strong. Lore-wise, there actually haven't been any Aldor Gatekeepers. Why? Because the Aldor, as an organisation who guards Shattrath and Outland.... has no gate to keep. Yes. There's not a single gate in Shattrath, or anywhere else in Outland, that they must keep. So, hilariously, there aren't any Aldor Gatekeepers, and there likely never will be. NOT correct.
I plan on doing this more. Cus it's fun. And I like judging the cards based on the knowledge I have, that not many seem to take into account very much when creating their card.
I spent so little time on my card, I have no idea why it made it to finals. 0 votes FTW, I don't even want to vote for it xD
Was completely neglecting this weeks competition, but the final entries are very fun indeed, and I'm glad I decided to check them out.
My votes went to:
Hassashu - Probably the negative enrage effect I like the most and feels relevant.
literleck - this card is angry chicken hilarious level.
It made it to the final because it has tokens. Cards with tokens always make it to the final, regardless of anything else.
THERE IS NO GAME.
I hadn't had any time this week so I didn't even follow any of the threads and I was quite surprised to see me in the finals, when I was browsing the finalists. lol ^^
I will vote for Mana Crazed Moonkin, should be a good anti-aggro card.
I also liked the design of Mistress of Disguise (love the reference), Tetchy Lich (should be a good anti-aggro card, though sadly good in zoo too), Ambitious Recruit and the 8 mana Algalon.
I also like Harth Stonebrew design-wise but he's way too expensive to be good (does nothing on it's own and if removed it's such a tempo loss, like so many cards he is too slow to be useful). At 6 or 7 mana I might have voted for him.
Magnus Longbarrelm just no.
EDIT:
@Hasasshu, not sure if you should be going around talking about lore if you don't know it. The origins of the worgen in Gilneas lie in the Wolf Cult, which was a cult that secretly spread the worgen "blessing" among the populace and eventually took over Gilneas City. They were also in a shadowy Alliance with the Forsaken. They were mostly scattered after the defeat of their leader Alpha Prime, with a small remnant being led by Ivar Bloodfang.
Are you seriously saying a Ethereal Drake and Nether Drake are the same? Ethereals are beings of pure energy, wrapped in enchanted "bandages" or other flexible material. The Ethereals can take many forms, but mostly take the form that resemble their former self before their home planet was destroyed by Dimensius . Nether Drakes are children of Deathwing, that have been twisted by the energies of Draenor's destruction..
Wouldn't it be an idea to know some lore before starting a "Lore Hour"? Especially when you've chosen to write in a pretentious style. Here's some light reading for you little loremaster: http://wowwiki.wikia.com/Ethereal / http://wowwiki.wikia.com/Netherwing_dragonflight

First of all, thanks for the Wild Card opportunity!
Indeed, there are no gate in Shattrath and I completely forgot that!
I'm not really into the warcraft's lore, and it's always nice learn something new about Azeroth; that's a nice way to judge cards indeed, hoping to see more often these judgements.
Well, I'm even glad I made it this far. :D Mortar Team is one of my favorite Warcraft 3 minions, so I just had to turn them into a card. ;)
Good luck everyone!

Apparently i'm being seriously doubted, so i'll just go about and give my... eh... counter-arguments/facts/anything?
@C9H20: This was from the comics/manga, and I never payed too many attention to those. So thanks for pointing this one out. You are correct, there has indeed been a Wolf Cult, and thus worgen cultists. It wasn't that much of a stretch anyways.
@adriamrk: Until we've actually seen Ethereals transform themselves into drakes (or literally anything other than their humanoid form) in the Warcraft universe, I don't think i'd say it's a lore-viable thing. The wiki states they can take on many forms. That does not include ALL forms. Actually, this just got very relevant because the new Saraad card from Grand Tourny rides on an ethereal camel. The question is, is that an ethereal riding an ethereal, or is that the essence of a camel-like creature from their homeworld K'aresh? Or is it just a magical bandage invention? Well, we... can't say for sure yet. So I can't say ethereals creating drake-like forms for themselves is guaranteed to exist either.
Oh, and no, I never claimed Ethereal Drakes and Nether Drakes are the same thing. I didn't know what an Ethereal Drake would be in Warcraft to begin with, until you pointed it out, because an ethereal has never appeared as a drake. I thought you had invented a new dragon species of some kind.
I don't claim to be a lore person who has no mistakes, but I can do research, and I can learn a bit from what you guys know too, like things about the comics/manga. I obviously don't mean to sound 'aloof'. I obviously don't mean to sound like i'm THE loremaster. I'm a guy, who reviews these cards from the lore I know, and has his opinion on that, and likes to think about that. I take your criticisms, don't worry.
For some reason my favorite is Magnus Longbarrel, it's just that its mana cost and stats are blown away, would be auto-include in every hunter deck. Should cost something like 5 mana and it could maybe inspire a control turtle-hunter that deals most of his damage with hero power :P
Hearthpwn Community's Balancing of Cards.
Calling it right now: Within two weeks, we will have a competition about the 'Inspire' keyword.
Give a man a Murloc, and he'll eat for a day.
Give him a Murloc Knight, and people will hate him.
What about a week where everyone has to come up with a new keyword :P
Hearthpwn Community's Balancing of Cards.
Then again @rdeegan, wasn't this weeks competition a pseudo-enrage brawl?
Give a man a Murloc, and he'll eat for a day.
Give him a Murloc Knight, and people will hate him.
