You must make a Loa or Spirit minion for Rastakhan's Rumble. It's time to join the fray with your own team!
Loas are powerful class Legendary Beasts and major highlights of their deck archetype, whilst functioning as the team's mascot. Their names are structured as "(Name), the (Animal)".
Spirits are 0-Attack Rare minions with a new mechanic: they have "Stealth for 1 turn" and provide a passive aura effect that benefits you in some way. Their names are structured as "Spirit of the (Animal)".
You are completely free to create Loas or Spirits for classes that have already had theirs revealed.
We have whittled down ~90 valid submissions to just 12of the community's favorites. Check out all the finalists below and vote in our poll (vote for as many or as few as you like) to help decide the winner and be sure to check back after the poll finishes for the announcement of the winner and the start of a new theme!
As a final reminder, this is a runoff competition. The winner of this extra week does NOT get to pick a new theme down the stretch, although you can still earn a winner's banner if you don't have one. As for our upcoming schedule:
When 8.21 ends we'll move into a week of Mini Comps.
A Final Vote will begin at the same time to see who is champion of Season 8.
A Feedback thread will go up, and then we're going on break until Season 9 begins in January.
We'll discuss what to do about the next Big Comp and provide you information when we're ready to do that.
Beyond that, good luck to the finalists and have a happy Thanksgiving ^_^
Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3
I really like a lot of those finalist. Good job everyone.
As you can imagine the Loa & Troll theme is one of my favorites so I'm really happy I could choose this theme for the custom cards competition before the release of the expansion.
I usually hold back on sharing my input during the poll, but...yeah. The Sandworm is crazy powerful with The Marsh Queen, and the Cat is crazy powerful at all times lol D:
I think the Spider is my favorite. There's just something about it; the creator must be very smart and wise and beautiful.

Noctis is basically make you Van Cleef as big as you want as long as you have Zola. How could that card even enter the poll? Most inbalanced card ever :D
You can just straight up OTK anyone with that card + zola + spectral pillager. You don't even need Zola if you have the DK active. Neat concept but way too many broken combinations. You'd need it to have some text added where no more than one can exist.
Now that I think about it, my card, Noctis, is actually broken AF. LOL. Probably needs a quantity qualifier, as someone suggested above. Good luck, all! :)
Edit: There doesn't appear to be any need for a quantity qualifier. It can't be targeted by Lab Recruiter and Zola because it's Immune. BUT, still OP in Quest Rogue.

I did consider carefully the interaction with the Hunter Quest but think it's balanced. In Quest Hunter, you actually draw your Raptors less often than you'd expect - almost every other draw will not be a Raptor. So you are not going to be chain resurrecting this minion on a consistent basis. Plus even when you do, you are only trading up a 3/2 for a 4/3 which helps you control the board but poses no immediate threat to the enemy hero and can still be silenced/transformed.
Plus this doesn't work against, say, Odd Paladin which has boards full of small minions which you can't use to kill your Sandworm and which they can buff on the next turn to kill you.
So all this does is to make Quest Hunter somewhat more viable. I can think of many existing decks that would still be more powerful than this.

Oh I didn't know you couldn't zola an immune minion. It's still broken with the rogue DK though.

Good point about the DK! Probably need an inventory of all cards that can duplicate.
The_Edel_Bernal kinda stole my idea from the Discussion topic.
He used the same statline, art and name, as well as a very similar effect (mine was about Totems instead of transform, but it was the same otherwise).
I don't really mind it, as I ended going with another card, but it would've been nice if he PMed me about it
Artwork you cannot blame as you are looking for a existing lore card same with name the statline is not that out there when it comes to a 7 drop to be seen as unique and i would say the ability is much different considering for your card all you need to do is summon totems. his you need to summon a minon then transform it
i dont think its right to be able to claim the effect of absorbing abilities as that has seen use in many card games
IMO many of the Loas submitted do not fit with the spirit of Loas, which are meant to push niche strategies and need to be built around. For example, Shirvallah needs big spells, Hireek needs handbuff cards, Janalai needs hero power boosting cards, etc.
Shadra the Spider is playable in most control Hunter decks and you don't particularly need to build around it. "Control" is too broad an archetype and does not count IMO
Kragwa the Frog is OP and an auto-include in almost every Shaman deck other than Shudderwock. The body itself is worth 6 mana so you are only paying 2 mana for the effect. You just need to hit one friendly totem or one big enemy minion for it to be worthwhile (it even ignores Stealth or "Can't be targeted..."). There is no building around needed for it to be good.
Noctis the Cat is just broken and auto-include in any Rogue deck that plays cards. It's a 0-mana Dreadsteed that can't be silenced and ensures you can always trigger your combos.
Gonk the Raptor pushes the Token Druid archetype, but that is already so prevalent in the meta. You just slot it into your existing token deck. I feel like Loas are meant to encourage new or uncommon deck archetypes.

I don't really mind it, as I ended going with another card, but it would've been nice if he PMed me about it.
I had the idea of "Transforming ability" for a frog related card LONG before this competition, because of transforming frog tales like The Frog Prince.
Hex and Unstable Evolution are my "Kiss", the idea is that the princess (aka You) will only "Kiss" the handsome prince (aka nice minions) to gain their abilities, and when you see an ugly peasant (aka nasty minions), you go ewww and nope out.
As for the art...it is literally the first result (That's also pretty decent) when I search "kragwa art" in google, so.../shrug
About the final list, excluding my own card:
Shadra, the Spider - Doesn't require synergy and perfectly functional on itself. Good card, bad Loa.
Spirit of the Tiger by CheeseEtc and RazorOfArtorias- Good supporting card for the Tiger Loa, personally prefer the one from Cheese more.
Spirit of the Spider - Somehow, the 5 lines of texts don't feel so bad on this one. I imagine it will be quite OP in Miracle deck, which is good.
Atreides, the Sandworm - Awesome card, OP as it should be with Hunter Quest, but still playable without it. Would prefer it to cost a bit more, but it's good as it is nonetheless.
Krag'wa, the Frog - OP just like Tarim (May be even more since this is a Transform) and doesn't require synergy. OP card, Bad Loa.
Rezan, the King - Good Loa, reminds me of the 30 legend meme deck. Would be better if it's Hand + Deck.
Noctis, the Cat - Way too OP in way too many decks. Cute art tho.
Spirit of Dragonhawk - Can't really comment on this one, middle of pack really.
Gonk, the Raptor - Way too OP even if it's by itself, snowballs even crazier in token decks. Compare Silver Sword which is 8 mana.
Spirit of Phoenix - Decent board control card. Not much to comment either.
Wild Card - A drawback that doesn't provide any benefit other than the Loa card. Bad imo.

In fact the transforming part is the only thing that's not similar to my card xD Mine gained the abilities of Totems you summoned this game.
Yeah, I nitpicked a bit about the art and name, but I mean, the card looked so similar. Same statline, same character and a Battlecry about gaining abilities depending on what you did during the game.
And well, reading your comment, I get it was all a coincidence, so I apologise for thinking wrong about you.
A little context about mine: Since all the Secret synergies rotated out, aggro/tempo mage has been aggressively unfun to play. You only needed to care/could keep up on board presence for the first 2-3 turns, then had to pray for fireballs or Aluneth to close out the game.
This Spirit would give mage a real reason to build a deck able to fight for the board, perhaps even tech in Windfury minions to gain maximum benefit from it (which also ties with the fantasy of the card- dragonhawks have always had Windfury in HS).
Realistically you wouldn't expect to get more than +3 Spell Damage per turn from it for most of the game (and you wouldn't expect it to live more than 2 turns), which is strong, but not OP.

I like noctis the best even though it's bullshit in quest rogue

Oh my god I need Krag'wa the Toad by The_Edel_Bernal to be a thing. It would be such a cool card for evolve type decks.

Zartgruen's seems like one of the only cards that could be viable without gamebreaking, but it is a little overcosted imo.
