Shiny
Ban this card from arena permanently for fuck sake
Too OP, should be nerfed to 9 mana... so that I can put it in my Odd Paladin deck :D
No the card is good as it is.
whoosh
Having played a LOT of arena so far in this expansion, I can say that I fear this sword. It just snowballs the board. I'm now trying to hold an ooze for this when I can. It looks pretty awful on paper - 8 mana for a so-so weapon. But on a full board, it's insane.
On an empty board its insane too.. Every minion he plays and clears a 3/3..
Day 2: 64.5% Deck Winrate and 67.2% Played Winrate.
I think it's safe to say that this card is pretty good.
I just came up against one of these in Arena, and I am sold on this weapon. It doesn't just buff your current board, it buffs everything you play for the next 3 turns too. If anything survives the first round of buffing, it can get a second, third, fourth buff. On an evenly-matched board, or even a slightly-behind board, this thing can turn the tides rather well. Even if you're behind, it can help trade more favorably, and at least stabilize a little bit. The only time I see this being bad is if you have a way-behind board, but that is true of most cards.
7-1 in arena, this card carried hard. Its almost as if you drop Bonemare 4 turns in a row for an up front cost of 8. It seems like you have to hold silence for turn 6 steed, and ooze turn 8 for this. Its going to be the new meta till Blizzard bans/reduces this card. My guess is that it will happen Monday morning.
By the way, the loss was from the buff crashing the game on my phone cause I was winning too hard.
Maybe a one of in some Aggro Pally list.
I still would rather play a 3 mana Sword of Justice over a Silver Sword
perfect for dragodin if it becomes viable
Even only dragon Paladin.
If Dude Paladin sticks around then this could be pretty good, but the deck would have to take on a more midrange-like play style.
Late game buff that works best with many small minions and can't be played until after your opponent can already cast flamestrike and twisting nether? COUNT ME IN!
+1/+1 buff for all minion turn eight isn't that impactful and by 8, big board clears are a very active threat. Is it unplayable? No, but it definitely isn't an auto-include.
With dragons it will be discounted to 6 mana so it might be really great with that kind of synergies. Gonna try it for sure.
For just one easy payment of 8 mana, you'll receive a brand new Assassin's Blade! Call now and you'll get Not one, Not Two, but FOUR Mark of the Lotus ABSOLUTELY FREE! This limited time offer will expire when this leaves rotation, so buy one today!
Each buff cast separately. Efficiency not included.
Vinecleaver
7 Mana 4/3 Weapon, After your hero attacks, summon two 1/1 Silver Hand Recruits.
(Compared to Silver Sword)
Pros - Has more attack but less durability, but you would prefer it to have less durability since you often end games with 1-2 durability left.
- Consistently summons 1.5 Mana worth of stats each turn (On it's own, up to a total 6/6 worth of stats)
- And the biggest difference, costs 1 less (7).
Silver Sword
8 Mana 3/4 Weapon, After your hero attacks, give your minions +1/+1.
(Compared to Vinecleaver)
Pros - Lasts longer (4 durability), but has less attack (3).
- Best case scenario, gives up to 7/7 worth of stats each turn, worst case scenario, effect whiffs, realistic worst case scenario, gives 2/2 worth of stats each turn.
- Costs 1 more (8).
So put next to Vinecleaver, which is run as a one-of in a good amount of Dude Pally decks, Silver Sword isn't too bad. One notable difference is that while Vinecleaver fuels your board, Silver Sword buffs your board, but Silver Sword has the potential to do its job much better or slightly worse. The fact that Silver Sword costs 1 more though, it could just drive it down a lot, especially after what we've learnt from Bonemare costing 1 more. All we can say is that time will tell how good this card really is. I wouldn't jump straight to conclusions, instantly saying this card is bad, but I'm willing to put my money it will be experimented with in Dude Pally early on and will be run in more late-game oriented Dude Pally variants alongside Val'anyr.
