I...don't know why I missed that with the Golden Egg. My apologies.
As for Priest vs Rogue as to what class "True to Form" fits in, I definitely see the idea behind putting in a Rogue class for the surprise factor and subterfuge. My initial thought with Priest was that they're the class most associated with Dragons so it'd make sense for them to have it.
True, but that could always be changed :P Until Blizzard decided for some reason that it had to be a Priest thing, Dragons were mainly associated with the Paladin (not forgetting Alexstrasza's Champion). They acted like Dragon Hunter was going to be the next one in line, but maybe that was just a ruse to get us Dragon players excited :/
I personally would really love a Dragon-Rogue connection, focusing on the darker, more intellectual side of Dragons. In Dungeons and Dragons and other, similar depictions, Dragons are big and powerful and can shoot fire but they're also dangerously cunning and prone to contempt for "lesser" races. Onyxia/"Katrana Prestor" gives us a glimpse of what could be; well, not-so-much the card but the character itself, in WoW.
Not that I'm trying to argue the point; it's more a ramble about my affection for Dragon decks and their future in the game. Last year's rotation basically ended their relevance in Standard, and I'm worried that might continue...
Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3
Shiny Psycrystal is an obvious mock on Juicy Psychmelon. However, if I were to submit the card I'd probably increase its cost to 7 or something like that.
Telepathy Apprentice is still learning to read minds, so she can only see the rarity of the cards. She was originally going to be a Shaman card called Sentry Totem, with a statline of 1/0/4, but I felt the effect alone didn't justify putting it into a deck, so I gave it a better body.
Feedback is welcome and will be returned!
To return the favor and finish my barrage of multi-posts, I think Telepathy Apprentice is definitely the way to go. The card is very unique, seems well-balanced and it's an interesting way to gather information. Juicy Psychmelon is not the best card to balance one's idea from, considering it is clearly ridiculous D:
Shite, I already submitted the Psycrystal :( Many people did not like that Telepathy Apprentice required special GUI, but thinking about it coldly, it had more chances to win.
Made the crystal cost 6, though. At 4 it was (deliberately) unbalanced to make fun of Juicy Psychmelon.
Theme : " You get a candle and you get a candle, everybody gets a candle."
Lore "The Candlemaker is the kind and generous boss of all the Wax Elements in Candle Rock, Highmountain. He usually spends all day creating all kinds of shapes from wax but never forgets to put a little fuse on the top. He can even make a full size Ragnaros out of wax, but it kinda melts away very fast."
So, tried a new approach to the effect of the card. Now it just transforms the minions next to it into ones of higher rarity (only 1 level above ofc). This works with The Storm Caller theme deck for Shaman.
I like it. I'd increase the stats to 4/4 and add "... with the same Cost." - the way it is now is a bit too bonkers. The potential of turning two 1-Cost minions into 10-Cost minions is just too good.
Makes commons into rares, rares into epics and epics into legendaries. Mechanic is shaman's, but i feel thematicly it's more apropiate to paladin.
Rogues love coins and playing dirty.
Upgrades:
Yes, i brought it back. It seemed appropriate to the theme. Made it paladin cause of crystals and stuff (lazy to change the art)
I actually think your Spellstone qualifies. It interacts with rarity to upgrade your card, though the actual effect wouldn't qualify alone. I like it, but it's EXTREMELY weak.
A couple of ideas I came up with; not entirely married to the name/art of the legendary minion but i'm rather fond of the effect as rare cards are the most common cards played in most decks so its pretty strong; may bump it to 8 mana.
ALSO: I accidentally posted on the submission topic cause I thought it was discussion, can a mod delete that? (Its on page 2)
I'm unfortunately not too fond of these. The Prophet Tharon'ja's effect is interesting, I'm just not quite sure if I get the flavor.
I'm dropping my weapon-guy; the text required to pull him off is just too complicated. Hopefully this is better/more cool:
"Edwin fights for the Common people, whether they be farmers or Faerie Dragons."
Rush is mainly a Warrior thing, but maybe Edwin could push a Rush Rogue. This would give the class a chance at reasonable board control, and could combine well with Combo to pump out minions and, well, combos (like with Defias Ringleader). Edit: I figured someone else would post something like this, with the Start of Game, but I guess not heh
I don't think there's a problem with Rush being a Warrior thing mostly. You know, Houndmaster Shaw exists.
I find this card more interesting that the blacksmith guy you put in the first page, that was too complex IMO.
Err...yeah. I knew that; it's not like I don't own Houndmaster Shaw and thus forgot about his existence...*cough*
I've been notified via our mod-chat that my card is too good, so I've dropped the +1/+1:
Love the idea of him leading a revolution. Rush seems like a perfect keyword to implement the thought of the Common folks being lead in a revolution.
So, taking the feedback from before, I made some tweaks to some of the card ideas I had. Specifically Dragon Tamer and Golden Egg.
True to Form seemed fair and interesting, so didn't make any major changes to it. Golden Egg was deemed straight value, so increasing the cost to 7 seemed appropriate, making it like Sprint, but still with the idea that cards in your deck are better than random cards, hence the +1 draw. And tutor cards are always some of the most powerful in any card game, although Dragon Tamer's very niche for a tutor card, so making him slightly weaker seemed a way to go to make him less OP.
There was also the idea that, since you're sacrificing an already established minion with True to Form, even for an 8/8 on average, but sometimes for a 12/12 highroll or a 6/6 lowroll, it might be just as fair at 5 mana as at 6. As for Golden Egg, if you wanted the effect more often, it could be 5 Mana Add 3 Cards, making it a Rogue variation on Nourish.
True to Form has great Flavor, but is a tad boring. Getting Onyxia and Alexstrasza is just sad... Could you add "and trigger the Battlecry." (yeah, Deathwing would be pain then)?
Here are some of my ideas. Originally had them under a new Keyword (Fellowship: Do something when you play a minion of the same Rarity) but I’ve decided to change that for the sake of the competition. Thoughts?
That was a very good idea, because people frown on introducing new Keywords in regular competitions. Of the three, I like Beast Collector the most. While it ultimately hearkens back to the Hunter's original draw engine (Starving Buzzard), it marries its flavor with an attempt to give the Hunter what it badly wants. The Hunter has been taking some time off from its extreme Beast-synergy for multiple expansions now - something I wholeheartedly approve of - but that doesn't mean Blizzard has to abandon it entirely.
Just as a quick side-note, Blizzard's precedent with rarity-words in a card's text shows us that only the word "Legendary" is printed in bold, like with The Storm Bringer; "Rare" is not given the same treatment (as shown in Rare Spear). Presumably, Epic and Common would not be in bold either.
Lastly, I would discard your second option, Xur'ios: one could argue you are attempting to circumvent the rules, including the first part (playing Legendaries) to get around our desire to avoid entries with the second part (generating random Legendaries).
Thanks for the feedback! And yeah, you’re probably right. I’ll discard Xur’ios and add this one:
As you’v probably seen, I keep bolding the Rarity. I do that because in my experience, adventure-and-tavern-brawl-only cards tend to be a little more... inconsistent with HS text rules. It would be really odd if they treated the Legendary Rarity differently in terms of text for no reason, so I decided to keep it this way. Plus, the Rare Spear is one of the oldest there, and you normally go by the most recent card.
Telltale Bard is great. Money for Epic (stories), or in this case vice versa in order to meet the rules. Not sure if i'm reading too much in between the lines, but this is the idea, right?
I have this so far. Will have to find art for it when i get home and the name is a placeholder as well.
Nice effect, but seems way too powerful. Assassinate is 5 mana, so you've basically added an effect that says "Summon a random minion [of the same rarity]." and gave it a 2-mana Cost. You could make it 10-mana and add "... with the same rarity and Cost.", which make it sort of equal to Mind Control (maybe you could make it 9-mana, as it's more inconsistent and triggers deathrattle).
Been thinking about new cards while trying to sleep, would like to know your opinions about this two :D
I really like the effect of Tyrande, but I hate that it's Tyrande. She doesn't match that effect, nor do I think effect is Legendary worth. Don't get me wrong, as I previously said, I really like the card text, I just think you need prober name and art (and make it an epic).
So I have a few more ideas. Any advice would be helpful.
Murozond is a too big deck attack. Surprise Gift is not for my taste. It's so unfortunate there's no interaction with card rarity, cause Gem Collector is a simple, elegant and flavorful effect - I'd work with that effect if possible!
I have a new idea. Thought is, that you pay this guy in order for him to coach a minion. Might seems a bit more Shaman-like, but that's hard when using a Coin which is, as we all know, a Rogue identity. Note that you can use it as a very-soft removal on enemy minions as well.
It transforms like Shadow Reflection does. Even if it's on the battlefield.
In my head, after you play this and select an epic minion, you'd be presented with the same "option" screen you see when you play a battlecrey with a target. Basicly, play the bard and you re-play the battlecry of a minion as if you just played that minion (meaning it affects said minion, not the bard himelf).
And this, which is the only card people liked so far.
@linkblade91 Rip, I forgot to actually return feedback. Here you go: Edwin's flavor is on-point, and Rush is fitting mechanically and thematically. I'm generally reluctant about things that buff cards of a certain rarity because of design space - Blizz now has to watch what they put at what rarity, which could have implications on the F2P experience - though that concern is mitigated here because you have to go all-in. Even right now, you'd be challenged to find enough good Commons to make a whole deck out of 'em. Pretty solid card.

I wouldn't worry too much about Transform in another class: Prince Liam already broke with precedent. I think the flavor is pretty ingenious, training bums into bona fide champs. My main concern is the luck required to get something good, hoping for a Legendary stat-stick, an aura or a Deathrattle. A ton of Legends have their value front-loaded into their Battlecry, you know? I think it's a really neat idea - and I'm the kind of person who can write off the "there aren't enough Coin generators" concern - but I'm worried whether people would consider the effort worth it.

Just made my first ever Custom Card, probably will try myself in Competition with it. I am not a native English speaker, so there are possibly some typos. Can you help me correct them if there are any? Also I am not sure about balance of this card, Common is not supposed to get a Deathrattle, I just don`t know how to make it more clear other than in the name of the card. And probably it would be better with 6 mana cost, what do you think?

Hi, glad to see someone new joining the fun :) Lets get to the feedback part, shall we?:)
I get that you want to emphasize "random" and "weapon", but using bold and italic this way is not proper for a HS card, there r only specific situations, where you use that formatting. Both "random" and "weapon" should just be a normal text format (for ex. Malkorok).
The card text could probably be changed to be a bit smoother, something like this: "Deathrattle: Equip a random Common or Basic weapon and give it this Deathrattle."
About the name, i dont get the reference, if you were goin for one, so mby thats why the name looks weird to me, but name and art (especially name with a weapon) is the main thing that sets the flavor and it is a bit lacking here (again, unless i missed the pun).
And last, the balance: the card is absolutely and utterly broken. You get a never ending weapon for just 5 mana. Basic and Common weapons r actually pretty damn good for the most part, so this is an insane value card. There is currently no way to silence a weapon, so your opponent has literally zero counterplay for this. Mby 10 mana could be balanced, but even then im not 100% sure. Your best bet is to not transfer the deathrattle and have it just equip a new wapon once (at that point it can also lose the legendary status) ... i guess the important part will be to incorporate the flavor why its doing that (you could change the rarity to like Common and have it equip a random common weapon - and give it flavor why its doing that).
Hope you wont get scared off by all this critique, you actually did a very good job overall with your first card, just the individual details need more work, but you will get the grip once you start making more cards :) GL
Hi there, first of all i would recommend you to use www.hearthcards.net for creating cards. I bet ur using that old site, which makes the card text look horrible. Hearthcards is what we all use, cause the cards look great, like real cards (or as close as possible) :)
Then you should use capital letter when writing keywords, so Recruit.
Overall, the idea seems ok. One thing - tho it might be my personal strife - i dont like when cards have a watermark of a set that is older than a first set where the mechanic you are using has been introduced. In this case, Legendary spells were introduced with Boomsday, so it feels weird to have this be a TGT card. I understand why it is, cause of the flavor, but legendary spells were not a thing back then. I guess its not a big deal, just something i felt like mentioning, if you wanted to go the extra mile. But i guess you would have to change the art+name, cause it would not fit into Boomsday, so a simple watermark change would be probably even worse than leaving it as it is, if you dont want to redesign the card to fit the Boomsday expansion.
Anyway, GL :)
PS: also it is better to post images via "Insert/edit image" function in the text editor, especially when you submit your card. Most ppl dont look at images that r only as an attachment. Use sites like imgur to host your image and upload it from there ;-)

Variation of this has been done several times already, i would suggest goin in a different dirrection. Also the discard part is completely irrelevant, you dont even have to have any common cards and your other minions get the buff anyway. Not a thought out design imho.
Thanks for the feedback!
