Nice, wasn't expecting to make the final poll, much less win. Thanks to those who voted!
On another note, I think it's ironic that my only other win - which was for a full WCDC - was by a smaller margin than this (1 measly vote). Mini-comps tend to be really close, yet my victories happen to show the opposite trend.
Though simple, as a potential 1-Mana Poisonous, she can generate some good value. You can play her early for tempo, trading into something small to Enrage and then kill something bigger, but she's also good later, especially if you can get the Enrage off right away.
Spectral Substitute is in the same spirit as Splitting Image. Also, a little late, but Spy's Report is nearly identical to Secret Plan. I promise I made it before Boomsday.
Wax Figurines have the same Deathrattle as the minion that died (in this case, Savannah Highmane). Including this in Sturmi's text would make it too small, unfortunately.
I'm a big fan of Scry-type effects, so I prefer the fortuneteller. Sturmi just doesn't really stand out, I feel, and Demon has a good point about activating the figurines.
Note that this works like Spreading Madness, not Volcano. It can hit both heroes. Spreading Madness would be broken if it could only hit minions, but it's unplayable as is when it also hits heroes.
As a silly card, it's great. My main beef with it is the class; it feels more at home in Warrior to me because Enrage stuff. I'd also suggest bumping up the damage so it doesn't just feel like Spreading Madness 2.0, though that might be too much.
Who else is going to place all the loot adventurers find?
Honest opinion: Is the idea of potentially giving your opponent a dead draw while facilitating Miracle Rogue to a lesser extent too "unfun?" Or is it just the right amount of annoying?
(As for why it's a "Pirate" and not Pirate, according to Togwaggle's derisive comment, "Candlebeard think finding buried treasure make kobold a pirate.")
I dislike deck attacks in general; like you said, it's unfun, and Hearthstone is supposed to be fun. The "Pirate" in quotes is fun, though, and the flavor is good.
I thought the requirement to choose cards for the Hall of Fame in the Big Comp was interesting. It allowed for people to expand their design space for cool ideas that wouldn't otherwise be possible. Even though I didn't take advantage of that, others did, and I think it would be a cool feature to include in future Big Comps at least as an option. As more and more sets get released, design space gets smaller and smaller, and coming up with ideas that are both interesting and balanced gets harder and harder. Being able to retroactively remove or alter problematic cards could open up a lot of options. I think this applies especially to a class comp; in the imaginary world where our class exists, I presume it'd have been around from the beginning, and problematic cards wouldn't have been made in the first place. The feature would have to be limited, of course, else people could make whatever broken garbage they want, but something like we had this Season could be fun.
@ChildOfTheAtom Thanks for the feedback! I agree with Linkblade concerning your cards. The second is the best; it requires timing and isn't potentially degenerate like the others. The first seems kinda unfun - people tend to dislike random effects - and the third's abilities don't make sense together.
Like Grumble, only danker. Gral is so fearsome that he scares all your other minions back into your hand. He works nicely with his Spirit, makes Battlecry minions priority targets, and could enable some crazy Edwin plays.
Krag'wa, the Toad works with Totems because of the promotional trailer, but I've received feedback it's not exciting enough :(
As Heavy Metal! showed us, Armor is probably going to be Warrior's theme this expansion, hence I made Tortolla, the Tortoise. I am worried it's not very fitting for a Legendary minion, given Crypt Lord has a very similar effect and it's a Common :_D
Finally, there's Spirit of the Hawk, which I believe to be my best card. I think Rush is a great way to make Windfury relevant, as it allows them to use their ability immediately without enabling huge damage burst like Doomhammer used to do back in the Shamanstone decks. 1 mana might be a tad too cheap, but Windfury needs A LOT of support to work.
Bump
Thanks for the feedback! Krag'wa and Tortolla are both decent, though they are a bit underwhelming for Loas. I think I prefer Tortolla out of the two. Spirit of the Hawk is probably better, but only if one assumes that there will be lots more additional Windfury support. Like you said, Windfury is pretty garbage as it stands currently, and I don't think this one card will make Windfury minions worthwhile.
The first Krag'wa plays with the Toad theming by turning EVERYTHING into a toad. Similar to Sunkeeper Tarim, the transformation can be either a buff or a debuff. Buff your Totems whilst neutralizing a board full of Shudderwocks or some other high-profile target. Flavor tidbit: The stats are equal to double the Attack and Health of the Toad tokens created by Rain of Toads (which is the same token Krag'wa transforms minions into.
The second Krag'wa is different in flavor. It eats the minions, then they can climb back out when Krag'wa dies. It's a huge Moat Lurker for the whole board, but I like the flavor of the first one more.
EDIT: I just noticed the first one should say "Toads" instead of "Frogs".
Thanks for the feedback! I really like how the second Krag'wa's flavor matches the art, though I don't like the potential Silence/bounce shenanigans. The first version is solid, though. My only concern is that people might be salty about Tarim and dislike your card by association.
Gral's flavor is that he's so fearsome, he scares your minions back into your hand. Works nicely with his Spirit, makes Battlecry minions priority targets, and could enable some dank Edwin plays. The Mage Spirit is pretty low-hanging fruit, but sometimes people go for that. I know that the actual animal is the dragonhawk, but I didn't find any art I liked. Wind serpent is kinda similar and even has its own Loa, and this artwork is sorta spirit-like, so... yeah.
Hraz'actl, the Bat : Feeds of the a possible Lifesteal synnergy in warlock. Get's bigger the more you lifesteal off stuff. He can get quite big, but a silence in enough to reduce it to a frog.
Icarus, the Pheonix : Basicly, priest has a lot of healing, but if you go full heal, you have no win condition. This can be that. If you are at 2 hp, and you haven't healed or armored at all, it'll do 7 to all enemies and heal you for 7. To otk your enemy you'll need to have taken 120 damage minimum. Not that easy to do.
Vixtraus, the Rat: Quest synnergy! Simmilar to Queen Carnassa, but can potentially give you more than 15 minions. The rats buff every newly played 1 drop, so if you play 7 of them in a turn you'll have the perfect board for a Defile [sic] ;(.
I think the Bat is def the best of the three; Icarus and Vixtraus are too complex. I'd prefer if he started at 1/1, though, just so it's not a total waste if he's Silenced (it costs 10, after all). The Spellstone synergy is also a bit worrisome, especially because he can buff himself.
Not a bad idea - I think Freeze Shaman is something people want to see - but the effect should be something other than a face hit. Big damage bursts aren't a ton of fun either way; it requires very little thinking on your part and involves very little interaction on your opponent's.
The idea is to come up with a Spirit that synergizes with Surrender to Madness, but ramp simply doesn't fit the priest aesthetic.
I've pretty much narrowed it down to these 3 variations.
I like the first version best. The fact that it does nothing the turn it's played isn't ideal, but it's much more elegant than the other two. Also, should probably change that watermark before a certain someone shows up.
I'm thankful for opinions from @Wailor, @linkblade91 and @livesage about my cards! I took your opinions into consideration and changed some stuff about Akali, because I think that's what I'm going to stick to - a bit of a big change to Akali's functionality, as the requirement of at least 3 minions damaged, while a good idea, would make the text too small, and I'm a freak of aestethics when creatings cards ;p. I'll also try and review other card ideas of the rest.
This is much more fair than the previous version. Remembering our favorite Pirate, though, I wonder if 3/3 is still too much of a swing.
Since Mage Loa is a "Dragonhawk", should I rename it "Spirit of the Dragonhawk?"
Also thoughts on flavor/ balance and art (I ll probably change the latter)?
To anyone attending this competition, you should use the animals already decided for every class
Hunter- Lynx
Mage- Dragonhawk
Priest- Bwonsadmi/ Undead
Rogue- Shark
Warrior- Rhino
Warlock- Bat
Shaman- Frog
Paladin- Tiger
Druid- can't remember this one, should be snake
@Williamo15
This card is very good, it's perfectly balanced and kinda remembers me Blood-Queen Lana'thel…
If this works how I think, it would trigger off of itself until your opponent's board is all dead. And even if we say that it didn't, since it kills the minions that would potentially take it out, it kind of protects itself beyond that initial Stealth, which may end up being unfun.
Season 8 is very nearly over, so - hopefully - we can address this issue such-that it will no longer be a problem come next Season in January.
Maybe have the poll start on a different day? You did say that Tuesdays were especially vulnerable, and the dead days after a season ends would be a perfect time to implement such a change.
On another note, lots of submissions this week. Some are solid, others not so much, but that's what you get with so many finalists. I also think it's interesting that the top 2 cards are both Soulpriest interactions, though I went for Gonk's Chosen, Wardruid Loti (Feral Druid FTW), and Excessive Violence (objectively the best card ever made), with honorable mentions to Shadow Mend and Alleria of the Void.

I had to do it. EDIT: Added another.
When implicating impudent, impatient children, she prefers impactful imperatives over imploring implicitly.

The idea is that you went too far and "fouled" the opponent, so you have to pay a penalty. Killing little gnome girls is uncool.
