As an extra stipulation, we ask that you do not use the new Magnetic keyword when designing your cards, or the new Project or Omega theming. We will very likely be giving these their own week in the future, and we don't want to flood submissions with these mechanics. We understand that they're new and exciting, but we'd prefer to let each week's theme shine on its own, without it just being 'another Boomsday winner' every week until the expansion releases.
We have whittled down - 172 valid submissions to just 16of the community's favorites. Check out all the finalists below and vote in our poll (vote for as many or as few as you like) to help decide the winner and be sure to check back after the poll finishes for the announcement of the winner and the start of a new theme!
I have too much time on my hands so I'll review all the cards. Cards in bold are the ones i voted for.
Spellbound Egg: Super interesting idea however it seems too hard to activate in mage. As a shaman card i think this could work really well and I'd vote for it since you can buff the attack.
Clumsy Prestidigitor: I like how it makes the secrets more 'secret' by being randomly discovered and your opponent has some counterplay with them being revealed. Just not original enough to get a vote (it's too similar to cards like babbling book and jeweled macaw) .
Eager Knight: I'm struggling to think of ways a 2 mana minion can be revealed consistently. Also 2 mana deal 3 damage with a body attached is very strong (Maybe OP?)
Mindreader: Unoriginal and I personally don't want this effect in the game.
Ancient Cookbook: Single handedly destroys the viability of many combo decks in the game. Defiantly do not want this card in the game.
Alluring Succubus: I think the downside is too weak to be impactful and even in today's meta a 4 mana 5/6 is too strong.
Imitation: This card is first of all interesting and original (as far as I know). It's balanced by the fact that you need to have 2 secrets on the field for it to do anything. However I could see it being frustrating for opponents being double counterspelled or explosive rune so unfortunately that holds it back for me.
Bolton the Lightning: A high stated minion isn't interesting enough for me.
Warp Stalker: There are better anti secret cards in the game and hate cards aren't very fun.
Archiwitch: I like this card enough to vote for it. The choice the player has in deciding which card is more useful for them but also can't be used well by the opponent is interesting. My concern is that it could ruin combo decks but then again there's cards like gnomefuratu which isn't too problematic for the game.
Picky Seducer: Too swingy. Either Extremely OP or useless.
Shadow Trap: Love the design of this card. Making your opponent playing around traps for a turn is very powerful and secrets should be designed to try and fool your opponent. Balanced by the fact that it is basically a random hunter secret in the end. Make the name and art more hunter like.
Blink the Rogue:Very flavorful. However It's probably too weak since if minions are attacking rogues they can't defend themself. Your opponent also has to draw the minion in the first place for this to be at all useful.
Varimathus: Don't like it simply because you can defeat an opponents combo without counterplay.
General Turalyon: See Picky Seducer
Examine the Stars: I'd really love to see effects like these in the game where you have more control over what you draw. However its very underpowered except in the case where you play gad. auctioneer + sorcerers apprentice for an infinite draw combo.
Eager Knight: I'm struggling to think of ways a 2 mana minion can be revealed consistently. Also 2 mana deal 3 damage with a body attached is very strong (Maybe OP?)
I feel like I ought to give a bit of explanation: the purpose of the card is not that it would be revealed consistently- it's that you can play it in the early game, but if you don't draw into it, and it gets revealed by a Joust card (remember those?), it still provides some value.
Today in my free brawl pack I got Barongeddon, then I had a cup of fresh green tea. As a result of that, I think Priest is OP because my keyboard is not a mechanical one. I hope Blizzard will address this issue.

Yeah I can see what you are saying, but I think the idea is more based on utility rather then farming the Coins. What I mean is, if you have some combo pieces but can't use them, by having that extra Coin it's a way to swing the game back in your favour, even though you may need to take some damage.
In short, it's just another way to create more options if you need them.

My Entry for this week's Card Design Competition - Season 8.16:
Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3

More like sorcerer s aprentice and mana wyrm for a 3 mana otk. That s why mages don t have echo spells

First a stunted Discussion topic, now a final poll with 68 total votes?
...What is going on?
i'm pretty sure, it is because Heartpwn didn't put it as a post in the "News" section
This is true: when we do not post a Final Poll to the front page of HearthPwn, the amount of votes declines dramatically. We usually try to do this each time, but it will always be more difficult during "Expansion Season". Front-page posts can come at a rapid pace as we work to keep up with new reveals, pushing old stuff down and/or out of our minds entirely.
Unfortunately, more-often-than-not Fan Creations befalls collateral damage that comes from having to focus attention elsewhere.

Yeah this. That being said, im kinda sad and disappointed that after all these years, where the comp is running all its phases on pretty much standard days/times each week, ppl just dont remember to check for it and there is always comments like "omg why didnt you notify me with a news post? now i missed it". I understand it, but at the same time ... cmon :F
Well can't say I expected that, disappointing to see so few people remember the competition is on when it's not put on the home page. Congrats to all the finalists.

Wow not as many votes this week... I'm guessing that's because of the expansion news.
Still nice win Soulbattle.
