Ok, it's not monday yet, but we all have already opened our packs and tried out the new cards.
After experiencing the real thing, I ask you: which cards were the biggest disappointments and which ones were the biggest surprises you had from this first week of GvG?
Surprise: Watcher is a fun hero power related minion. Paladin has some new cards for it too, Hunter and Warrior as well. I like that.
Disappointment: Everything else.
Game became even more random and I lost interest in the game after just a few days of playing. I think I'm through with it for good. Just lacks consistency and depth. GVG didn't improve that a bit, in fact, it did the opposite.
Biggest disappointment: Shrinkmeister. 90% of the time I drop him, his effect goes to waste. To use him effectively you need to NOT use him on curve, but then that will mean you need other two-drops to make up for him (or you won't have enough stuff to play on turns 2-3), which would in turn reduce the slots you have for bigger better minions.
Surprise: Unstable Portal. I knew it would be decent but didn't expect to get legendaries 40-50% of the time from it. This card is rigged I tell you.
Biggest surprise: Shrinkmeister really sucks, and isn't worth a deck spot.
Biggest Disappointment: I was so excited to buy packs for the first time, I had to put my credit card info in, and forgot to check which packs I was buying. FailFish
So Shrinkmeister is really bad?? I saw Forsen, Amaz and others playing it in Priest and doing pretty well.
the card is pretty good. using it with cabal can win you games. also, if you shrinkmeister something, then shadow madness into recombobulator, you get to keep "their" minion. the potential for this two drop is quite insane and i'm sure it'll continue to find a spot in priest decks.
I totally agree with you, people should just stop thinking about Shrinkmeister as a 2-drop, and consider it as a combo piece.
I second the Dr. Boom votes. He's good for mid or late game, a good top-deck if needed, and is difficult to target as a single silence/hex minion since his bots are also on the board.
I played against a Paladin who used the Equality/Consecrate combo on me but ended up clearing his own board too thanks to the bots. The only class with a good answer right now is Priest (Cabal, Shadow Madness, Mass Dispel).
Biggest Surprise: That people think Shrinkmeister is a bad card. It's insanely good.
Biggest Disappointment: That people still want to play Vanilla Rush Hunter and Vanilla Zoolock, when you could at least spice them up with some of the new cards :(
I think Boom is better, Sneed has the bigger upside, but almost every deck runs some kind of silence now which'll leave you with an 8 mana 5/7. Dr. Boom always gets you some kind of value even he gets BGHed and the boombots just hit for 1 damage each. Plus he's cheaper.
For me biggest surprise: Neptulon, I can't lie, I was very disappointed when he was first announced but I got him in a pack and he's just been doing all kinds of work for me. He usually doesn't do much himself, but the 4 murlocs have carried me to more victories than I care to admit.
Also Piloted Shredder, I was pretty certain this card would be good, but I didn't anticipate how good.
Disappointment: Can't really say, all the cards I thought would impress have impressed and most of the cards I thought would suck have sucked so far.
Biggest disappointment - Bouncing Blade - I crafted it, expecting great things. It usually does very little.
Biggest suprise - Malorne - got it in a pack. Malorne is a big threat with a lot of HP in that sweet spot of 7 mana. It has performed well above my expectations in this aggressive meta.
Piloted Sky Golem/Piloted Shredder either the RNG must be somewhat rigged atm or the drops that they provide are very good. I always get those Water Elementals and Shieldmastas from the first one, to the disappointment of my opponents
Feign Death: to me, it's the most fun card of the expansion, with the potential to be very, very broken.
Fel Cannon: a tiny Ragnaros that only hits minions. If timed right, it shuts down all the small drops that the opponent might play.
Big disappointments:
Spare parts - they are not that common as you might think. To use them effectively, you have to build an entire deck around it, which is not worth IMO. I really wish I could use those parts more often.
Surprise: For cards I played, Annoy-o-tron. Thought it was okay, then changed my mind to bad, and now I find it really good. Call Pet turned out to be pretty good, or at least fun. For all the hype Unstable Portal gets, Call Pet is kind of does the same thing. Also, Grove Tender at least feels good to play. Both the gain mana and draw card effect helps Combo Druid more than the opponent, or at least it feels that way. Seen others play Dr. Boom to great effect.
Disappointment: Wasn't expecting much out of Recycle, and I was right (still sad though). Floating Watcher isn't doing so great for me when I try demonlock. Also, still only Mogar the Ogre and his twin as my only GvG legendary after 60 packs or so...
Troggzor the Earthinator is much better than I expected. Drop him when your opponent doesn't have any minions and it's usually so frustrating for them that they rage quit.

Tinker's Sharpsword Oil for being a card that looks clunky and ineffective and when put into action leads to complete blowout.
Antique Healbot for making every control deck have heal burst on the levels of Priest. What a sleeper card.
Flame Leviathan for being as crappy as it reads no matter how many different Mage decks I've tried it in. The disapappointment is real.
Target Dummy for being the cutest new card. Even better in gold!!
Biggest disappointment: Shrinkmeister. 90% of the time I drop him, his effect goes to waste. Surprise: Dr. Boom may be the best legendary in the entire set. Card is good all the time. I have never once been upset to play it.
Dissapointment: 90% of the Legendaries are unplayable or extremely niche.
What do you think about Sneed's Old Shredder compared to Dr. Boom ? Which is better?
My unstable portal results: Alextraza Cairne Bloodhoof Cruel Taskmaster Gazlowe Lord Jaraxxus I am constantly amazed.
Dissapointment: Warrior control isnt as good as i thought it would be.
Current decks: Handlock, Ramp Druid, Control Warrior. My goal: 12 arena wins, beat all da Hunterz. Longtime magic player.
Biggest surprise: Shrinkmeister really sucks, and isn't worth a deck spot.

Dr. Boom is insane and always good to drop, go with it
Surprises:
-Shieldmaiden, it's been running in basically every Control Warrior deck atm, I remember so many people saying it was unexciting when it was revealed.
-Dr. Boom, ditto^
-Annoy-o-Tron, it's been serviceable in some of the mid rangey mech decks, has done well in the Mechamage Kibler deck.
-Muster for Battle, seeing decent success in Pally.
-Velen's Chosen, some thought this was too slow in constructed, but it turns out to be a great value play so far

Behold, the Might of Stormwind!

You can find me here! Good luck everyone!

It always seems to stop sooner than I hope, pinging the lowest health minions. I know its just RNG, but I guess I'm tired of so much RNG.
