Explosive Sheep is one of the cards in the new core set. And I actually think it will see play. Sheep has seen some play in mage in the past as a 4 mana deal 2 to everything. That might happen again, but it seems like a lot of mana these days. However I was theorycrafting a control warrior deck, and I was looking for some good boardclears. But everything that was newly introduced only did one or two damage.
Whirling Combatant deals 1 to all, Rancor deals 2 to all. Combined with sheep however, they both deal 4. Combatant leaves a body and rancor gives at least 2 armor, if not more. Sheep may also combo with Minefield in some situations, and even with Cruel Taskmaster or Sword and Board in a pinch.
I've been messing around with it in some Warlock lists. Seems like it has some good synergies with cards like Mortal Coil and Grimoire of Sacrifice which makes it a Mini Flamestrike... sorta. I could see a Warlock package with those cards also running Mo'Arg giving a lot of flexible board clearing for cheap.
Your deck has absolutely no win con aside from occasional fatigue victories.
Razormane Raider and Overlord Saurfang must seem like odd inclusions to you then, I assume. (And for the rest of the damage: Weapons can go face, you know)

Oh yeah, it seems amazing with grimoire of sacrifice! BRB Imma update all my warlock decks real quick.
Considering that much of the AoE rotated out, it is likely to see play in control decks.
It almost has to, right? But most classes do seem to have a hard time activating it. How would priest do it, for example. All their new spells only damage enemy minions.
I'm gonna use sheep in my miracle c'thun rogue. Sheep with plague scientist is a full board clear and can be used with broom if needed. Rogue's lack of board clear definitely makes it a useful tool if you plan on playing a slower deck

I love that. Will you be using broom just for this or does it have other synergies in the deck? Do you have a decklist?
I think explosive sheep has a lot of potential, particularly with rancor and other reliable aoes. That said, yeah, this deck doesn't have any big plans for winning. Using this as a shell for etc combo warrior, or for some new version of a rattlegore or grom deck. Or just loading it with some high end plays and trying to beat people out with new alex, new ysera, etc. But as is the win condition here is "armor up past fatigue".

Well actually, the idea is to use Razormane Raider + activator twice on an empty board. Best activater is Cruel Taskmaster since it does 2X 7 damage. Then you play Overlord Saurfang for another 10. The rest you can deal with weapons. But since you are not the only one who is not conviced, I added two Youthful Brewmaster in to bounce back whatever is needed to win. For example 20 aditional burst.
But you can replace those 5 cards with any wincondition you like. Shouldn't be too hard with Rattlegore and Troublemaker not going anywhere.
That's also the reason why Whirling Combatant is not in there. I'd recommend putting that in instead of 2 other control cards if you use this as a shell.
And then there is always C'thun, the one card win condition. Probably should just go for that XD.

It has other synergies as well. Broom works well with jandice and efficient octo-bot, and it also is a good minion to play alongside a Field contact turn to swing the board and give an additional draw. Here is the list I have so far:

Bromstick will probably be used toactivate the sheep sometimes

I like it. Blademaster + scientist is a great combo too. I wonder if it can survive aggro, though, but seems good vs control. I hope it works, seems fun.

Yeah, I have quite a few cards that are good against aggro though, like armor vendor, pen flinger, the c'thun spells aren't bad either, and Taelan is a decent taunt body, but might be missing weapon tech. I'm not sure what to cut for weapon tech yet though so I wanted to see how the deck performs without it and what cards are underperforming.
While you're right that a lot of classes that lack early board clear also happen to have a hard time activating it, i think token/zoo decks got so much bump it might see play, even just as a tempo play on turn 2 / 3 and let you opponent trade it in for you. Warlock zoo can develop so wide boards early on that it might be the saving grace for a lot of decks, to thin out the huge boards that can be thrown on turn 3
The problem with explosheep is that it generally is a 2 cards combo, high mana cost, very inconsistent and dependant on draw order, all that for just 2 damage to everything. And the classes that can best utilize the sheep are the classes that already have board clears.
I would run Abomination over explosive sheep in any deck I can remember or imagine.
There's a reason it was cut from all decks back in GvG, it's just a legit bad card, and we have way more good cards now, leave it to new players.
Of course it can be a good tech card against some decks. But don't expect it to be an auto include in any deck.

What do you think. Will we see explosive sheep pop up somewhere? In warrior, mage or somewhere else?

EDIT: +2 Youthful Brewmaster just in case ;)
Anyway, that's off topic.
