So I've been seeing a lot of posts about Tickatus recently (even made one myself on it's card page) but after having then gotten the card from level 25 in the tavern pass and played with it myself, it kind of feels like people are actually being a bit too dramatic? Or at least, we have a very vocal minority here.
It's reasonable to say that a majority of my games i haven't even been able to play tickatus - including a lot of my wins - and i still lose just as many games after playing him as i win. In this pretty aggro meta we seem to have forming, he's not anything insane.
Again, this is just my experience, but it really don't feel like the game breaking card everyone says it is.
That doesn't change the fact that it's effect really isn't a healthy one for the game, but still, it shouldn't be outright nerfed, because then it would just be bad - some kind of rework would be perfectly fine. Or just leave it like it is, which is honestly what I'm expecting Blizzard to do.
Yeah, I haven't had any significant problems playing against Tickatus. I win some, I lose some - and probably more of the former.
Most recent Tickatus Warlock I faced milled ten of my cards, including my reassembled C'Thun, the Shattered, and then domed me for 10 with Y'Shaarj, the Defiler while I had Eye for an Eye up. Allowed me to finish him off with a Pyroblast to the face. You know, all those cards you expect to see in Rogue... ;)
Lol, Ticket pretty much has the same impact on the game that a really bad hero card would, but it's actually more interactive. There isn't even a single well-performing deck which includes it, last I checked.
If you build your entire deck around it you can mill out your opponent, but you could just as easily kill them any other way. It just isn't very good right now. That might change if dh gets nerfed, but right now it's low tier 3 at best. Likely not even that.
I think this is mostly due to people being irrationally mad when they see their cards burned. I've played against enough mill rogues to know the feeling but seriously, unless you actually go to fatigue (rarely the case) it doesn't matter if you lose 5 or 10 cards. It simply doesn't. And to argue that a tickatus deck (there's no such thing, I assume most are talking about controllock) is actually good is nonsensical since it's tier 3 and not a particularly solid tier 3 either (unless we're talking questlock which is like the worst deck in the game right now). So are we just talking about hurt feelings here? Especially considering that most aggro decks absolutely obliterate warlock decks that use tickatus out of the water? Not that cards haven't been nerfed before because a large part of the userbase found it unfun (quest rogue certainly didn't deserve the 3 million nerfs it got for power level alone) but all this hysteria over tickatus seems a bit much to me.
Not that I'd be against it being nerfed in the slightest, to be honest. I got it in my packs and haven't used it once, getting that 1600 dust would be extra sweet.
I'd much rather see nerfs to Bomb Warrior and Soul DH before they change this card. That said I do agree that it punishes playing control decks which is a shame, there have been some good suggestions though in the thread. I'd like to avoid gutting Tik.
While Tickatus certainly is hard to win against if played, as a Priest I have had game where I got lucky on what he milled and won. I also had close games where I was close to winning even after 2 Tickatus. There is also the chance that when you get to 9 mana, the turn after your opponent plays a 7+ spell, you Mindrender and hopefully he has his corrupted Tickatus and then you autowin.
It is however a weird way to give Warlock some power back. It feels too good against both control and combo.
You need to play the uncorrupted Tickatus if you play illucia, otherwise you destroy your own cards.
Shit you are right, however I still think you play it no matter what so it doesnt get played a second time against you. But yea I was completely wrong.
I don't geht the crying about the card at all. o.O
It killed the control type? Controls purpose is to win against aggro. The Warlock control deck using Ticka is way worse against aggro than priest or warri control decks. Ticka tries to make up for that so warlock has an edge over other controllers.
Don't act like your archtype is destroyed by one card while the meta is 80% aggro.
Try to see it that way: Ticks holds OTK combo decks like tripple maly drood back, the true control killer (still too slow for turn 7 DH otk, whatever)!
Crying about the stats must be a joke with a tons of powercreeps around. 0 mana giant is ok? 9 mana 84/84 drood board anyone.. 4 times :D

I don't think anyone is complaining about the win rate... it's the fact a deck can just flat out SCREW any combo/control deck. Sure the aggro meta may keep it from becoming super popular but its just an awful deck to play against if your not aggro. Deck disruptions shouldn't be so powerful 5-10-15 cards removed from a 30 card deck is just batshit crazy. An unlike the old mill rogue and druid mill decks, Tik lock is still quite strong even if hes buried in the deck.
I mean i only added that you cant mill someone beyond 10 doesnt feel that wordy.
Sure you can... they have discover demon cards, copy lowest cost demon, the card that pulls 2 minions and makes them cost 1, seems like something else. Guy played 2 of them on turn 8 vs me without even playing the 10 drop that gives them all back.

You can play 3 at turn 6/7 but this deck is garbage. Of course you can rage quit, or just kill them instead ;)
There aren't enough people playing Tickatus to warrant a change. I see Tickatus maybe every 10 games? Even if there were a ton of people playing it, the counter is aggro. What do we do against aggro decks? Play control decks.
If Tickatus ever becomes a real problem and everybody starts playing aggro, control players should be excited.
I play only Wild, i have seen it played maybe 3 times in 100 games. I have it in my deck too...its cool to disrupt Control Deck combos. But it helps me maybe one game in 20 to effectivly win.
This is my take on it. There has to be rules on how far you are allowed to destroy your opponents deck. But the core of the card stays the same
This is far too wordy and complicated to ever possibly be a viable option imo. Honestly, I expect they won't really touch it apart from maybe a mana increase but even that I'd doubt. Unless a future set gives it a viable home, this card probably will never change.
I agree with your take on the poster’s change, maybe a mouthful of prerequisites for this game... but IMO I think a 6 mana 8/8 with game wrecking perks is pretty over the top. It is sooo easy to corrupt.
Honest question... what has you thinking it won’t be nerfed? I mean it’s blatantly dumb I think... I’m fine with trying to give Warlock some love but good god man! I see some similarities with Mindrender Illecia, and they found that too OP and nerfed her... Tickatus is Mindrender on steroids. They made her 3 mana so you can’t wreck their entire hand. Now you can’t use her for a tech against Tackatus unless you want to burn 5 freakin cards. Hecklebot is not a consistent enough to make a difference that we’d call “balanced”. Could the issue really be that it’s always played with Y’shaarj???? I have yet to come across a Warlock deck with Tickatus WITHOUT Y’shaarj. Nobody plays it before it’s corrupted cause that’s just silly.
I'm just thinking once rhe novelty wears off, people won't be playing this card (exxept maybe in wild, which I dont care about and lets be honest, history shows neither does Blizzard). The deck has a mediocre winrate at best and when people get sick of playing a 45% deck, they'll move to something better. Not to mention I have won many games after Tickatus was played against.me. If this card was consistently deciding games, then it would be a priority but as it stands its just for the memes.
Grabbing a class winrate % is very misleading. There are plenty of decks in Warlock with much better win percentages. Grabbing the highest WR warlock deck with Tickatus included I found these stats. Galakrond Warlock, 58% WR, 4200 games sample, Tickatus drawn WR is 62% so drawing him isn't really hampering the deck, played WR is 75% and one of the highest in the deck. He's absolutely winning games. Saying otherwise is naive, misleading, and ignorant.
this is why i love rogue :P

This guy's got jokes

It's killing the control and combo archetypes single handedly. The Jade idol v2.0.

Sounds like he is a huge fan of tickatus being able to just destroy any control/combo matchup but not of losing to aggro. /shrug

Just nerf it by reducing the number of cards to 3 and we're all fine.

Isn't it funny that the only people who are whining about Tickatus think that Hearthstone is actually Solitaire?

I dont know what it does in Standard.
Fuck tickatus and everyone who plays that obnoxious bs.
Also why would they even print new c'thun along with this bs that makes it unplayable!?
To reiterate: fuck tickatus. Eat a turd.

Just remove the tag Demon to make this a balance card.
