Are there any low-cost minions I want to draw? Prince Keleseth comes to mind, but decks that used him had 1-cost minions. Also, drawing him with this card means playing him on turn 5, which is weak even for him.
Playing him in turn 5, or 4 if you coined the 3/3, is not great but ok play, after that Keleseth is just a bad draw, after keleseth the second one have more value because will draw a buffed minion from your deck, this card make keleseth decks much more reliable, the only true challenge is build a keleseth deck without 1 drops.
You play Prince Keleseth in maybe a Tempo Even Pally deck? That way you have the 1 mana hero power and can still play dudes as a board option? Hmmmm...seems tough, don't see how 3 drops help in either situation.
The problem with a keleseth even deck is that it gives you exactly one non hero power play before turn four.
Rogue can play 4 cost or 6 cost spells before turn 4 with Preparation and backstab as removal, if rogue cards in this expansion don't sucks so badly...
Well, if this works with giants (Snowfury or Arcane) then it might actually be meta-defining . Fetching out the giants at will would be very strong...if that doesn'T work there might still be sth. Cool card
Doesnt work, the cost reduction is only active when theyre in your hand see: Recruit.
What? It works for mountain giants molten giants or arcane giants. Their cost is reduced by how many spells u casted this game and damage taken this game regardless of them being in ur hand or not. Mountain is the only one dependent on ur hand size
STOP spreading rumors! Thats not how it works! To quote from reddit Guild recruiter/Mountain Giant interaction:
Nope. The cost reduction of Arcane giant is an in-hand effect: it modifies its own mana cost only while in the player's hand, and not while the card is anywhere else. So, as long as the giant is still in your deck, it will still cost 12.
(goes for all giants) And dont act like you know something rule specific if you clearly dont!
Lol we were having completely different discussions. I didnt realize we were talking about piper drawing a cost reduction giant. I only thought u were saying that Arcane gaints cost reduction only applied when u cast a spell with it in ur hand. Sorry my bad
Not sure why people think this card is any good. It's no better than gnomish inventor and is generally worse since by turn 4 drawing a random card is probably better than drawing lowest cost minion.
This card gives me a bit of an awkward feeling. It's a bad draw a card-minion, but it's also a tutor; and when we learned something, then it's never EVER underestimate a tudor-card.
Why i feel so awkward about this card is even Cubelock:
This card gives you a Kobolt Librarian, then you draw another card with the Librarian itself. And this card does NOT get worse if you don't have any librarians, it actually get's better.
I think most people are missing the point of this card. I see it merely as a way to force draw Fire Fly so you have guaranteed mana filling and combo activators in a rogue deck. Rogue also has multiple ways to make up for having a bad tempo play on turn 4, especially with activated combo cards.

I wonder if you use this with Brann will it check the condition twice? For example, if you have a single 1-drop and a single 2-drop, will it draw both or will it attempt to draw the 1-drop twice? Furthermore, if you have more than one lowest cost minion, is the draw random?
Interestingly too, if you have a deck with a bunch of spells, and then a bunch of expensive minions with a couple of Pipers thrown in there, you're guaranteed to draw a big playable minion instead of a useless spell. These could go well in a "big" deck.

It depends on what your lowest cost minion is......
Holy cow is this card amazing. If you didn't get them in your packs, craft two of them and never look back. Goes into nearly any minion-based deck.
Not really. It would be basically the same as running Gnomish Inventor, and nobody runs that card unless they are a cycle heavy combo deck (i.e. Pre-nerf Razakus Priest). Only play this if you need a ton of draw or if you can exploit the lowest cost minion effect.

Do card discounts work while cards are still in your deck? In other words, if you have 5 life, is Molten Giant the lowest cost minion in your deck?
Mmm
Don't think so, holy wrath > molten giant always did the full 20/25 I believe.
Howling commander didn't, but since this is neutral I have high hopes
Would a card like this definitely work with the Giants? That would be neat if it did.
I would've thought those cards were always referred to by their default costs?
Very interesting design.
I wonder if you can build something around this.
Error...
could be good for making sure you get a hold of keleseth those games where he's on the lower half of your deck

The only combo deck I could see it in would be "spell" hunter, where you can guarantee Kathrena Winterwisp on turn 8 that will pull King Krush and Giant Mastodon.
I just wanted to say I really like the flavor of the Piper 'calling' the most easily swayed (cheapest minion) from your deck.
