1) In aggro you want threats on the board. This keeps them there by denying any AOE SPELLS.
2) In control you want to not die. This keeps combos from killing you for a turn.
(...)
1) "In agro you want threats on the board". Yes and Rebuke isn't a threat. In agro Pally, you protect your board by refilling the board after a board clear. There is no world where rebuke is better than a minion or a synergetic weapon.
2) "In control you want not to die". I don't want to die in every game with every deck I play!
"this keeps combo from killing you for a turn". And then you die the turn afterwards. Wow! This is the same BS argument when Miracle (Leeroy) Rogue was flooding the meta: "Just play taunts" ...
Protecting the minions from your call to arms is going to be better than playing one two drop most of the time. If you can delay their AOE by one or two turns that can be huge. Sure, if your board is gone and you are top decking this is awful, but if your board is gone and you are top decking as aggro paladin you have almost certainly lost already.
Surviving one or two extra turns can make all the difference. See ice block. Now it would be dependent on what the meta looks like whether it is viable or not, but it would be a powerful tech option if there are more combo decks out there.
Mid there are a lot of AOE spells in the meta, most aggro Paladins will runt his.
I think people are overreacting because they are in PTSD from aggro paladin. Wouldn't surprise me if this sees little to no play. Will be interesting, and a cool design.
I like how the developer outright said that aggro paladin had no skill. Lol. Well said and couldn't agree more.
Well,i know will be playing zoolock, token druid and token shaman from now on,even though this is a meta defining card and i don't like aggro paladin...at least it isn't secret paladin meta so i'm VERY,VERY HAPPY ATM
I think this will be pretty good, used in exactly the same way loatheb has been, setup lethal, play 1 or even 2 rebuke to block your opponent from board clearing, win the game next turn, job done, good thing with this is rebuke stacks too. lol

Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.
the effect is incredibly powerful as we all know from loatheb, the 5/5 really didnt matter at all it was the effect he had that made him so great, now for 3 less mana you can fit this in with a board flood of 1 and 2 costs cards and next turn Tarim and they cant do anything about it at all, very strong card

Lame that i cant downvote this, you're wrong in everything you said.

lol...what is wrong about what I posted? aggro paladin doesnt play 5 mana 5/5's and this is a better alternative because you can play 2 of them, it plays nicer with paladins board flood strategy and having 2 copies is better than 1 legendary in control paladin, also loatheb is in Wild so it doesnt matter to compare the two.
Loatheb is incredibly powerful, but the the effect on a 5/5 for 5 is waaay better than just the effect for 2. Plus, Paladin doesn't really seem able to capitalize on this. Neat, though.
casting this before a tarim/levelup next turn isent "able to capitalize" on it and completely lock most opponents out from doing anything about it?? worrying that the dumbest post in the thread is the first post with the most upvotes
these are the same people that called Tarim a weaker Eadric the Pure....LOL.

Because this is not an aggro paladin card, say that the 5/5 body on Loatheb didnt matter is just... dumb? Of course the effect is too good but what make this card broken is the effect PLUS reasonable body, that's why almost every deck played it. This card is not very strong but very niche and hard to avaluate, last but not least paladin play a 5/5 body it's called Crystal Lion (not sure if this will still be a thing in standard since SaD will be rotating out).

Loatheb is great and played universally precisely because he comes with a 5/5 body. People often underestimate the effect of having a solid body on board, just look at Keeper of the Grove, it was auto-include when it was 2/4, but nobody plays it after it's been nerfed to 2/2.
Regarding Rebuke, it's a situation card at best. The best counter to AoE clear is the power to reflood the board afterward, not something like this.
Also, let's not forget how many cards with Rush we're getting this expansion. This card does nothing to stop your opponent dropping a Rush minion and kill your own, and let's not forget the crowd favourite...Duskbreaker (A bit better due to Netherspite Historian rotates out through)
pretty sure they gonna nerf manacost of this card eventually
I wish loatheb was always in std, because he doesn't give enough room to build around it for aggro decks in the same turn, this card does so. And you have 2 of those on top of it.
This will be run is aggro pally for nearly the same reasons equality/silence is run in some lists. This leads me to think the optimized lists will run only one of these. Could see 2 being run but that could lead to awkward hands/draws.

That moment when you can't hellfire their board of dudes. :( #feelsbadman

Aggro Paladin will need a bit of help to stay relevant, with the loss of Vilefin Inquisitor and Grimscale Chum in the Murloc version and the loss of Steward of Darkshire and Stand Against Darkness in the Dude version, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.
As a spiteful priest player, I'll say this is not very effective.
You guys saying this isn't as good as loatheb because it doesn't generate a threat are silly.
It only costs 2 Mana, you have plenty of leftover Mana to generate a threat.
Might as well make the nerf thread already.
