This is basically 7 mana cast Webweave which is an under-statted, overpriced, dust-worthy spell. So they took perhaps the worst card of the set so far, and made it cost two more mana. That's how bad of a battlecry this is. With Webweave and Spreading Plague already revealed, this does nothing new for Druid, and just arbitrarily costs another 2 mana.
To me this is the most boring DK of all of them tbh. There is nothing cool about him, but I guess he could be practical enough to see play even though both battlecry and effect don't seem that strong. The HP might be on the level of Dire Shapeshift, sure its flexible, but it doesn't seem that much stronger than that. In a lot of classes the Hero Cards are almost win condition, whereas here it seems like maybe a decent inclusion for some archetypes. It pains me to say this as Druid is my favorite class, but it doesn't seem that great (definitely playable and perhaps even very good, but on the low level of very good at best). I think they butchered the power level of this card by putting it at 7 mana and providing Choose One effects for both battlecry and HP tbh. Ofc having said all this I still suspect that one of the spells left for Druid might set the attack of Taunt minions equal to their Health in which case some of the cards/effects are significantly improved, but I still think people are overhyping its power level.
Does Fandral Staghelm synergise with this Hero Power? because fandral reads "Your choose one cards have both effects combined". but the hero power is not a card.
Its a card, it just isn't a minion.
Edit: Oops, I just understood what you meant. They have confirmed they will change Fandral so that the Hero Powers can be combined.
I dont understand how Webweave can cost 5 mana and Malfurion the Pestilant costs 7, clearly one of them is overpriced or the other underpriced (more overpriced in my opnion)
basides that, i dont understand how some people say this is the best heropower (just to name one: jaina gives you a Water Elemental with lifesteal (i know after killing, but this both an up and downside since your oppents wont want to play into it)) And other people claiming it is a bad card, the versatility is what makes it a good card in my opinion, being failry cheap (7 mana) being fairly cheap IN DRUID (ramp that baby up), and the battlycry both seem solid to me, aggro? give them the scarabs; control, who mainly/soley play big bombs? play them spiders the versatility is just bonkers and makes this card really good in my opinion

Want to make a friendly wager :) I am willing to bet that both Webweave and Malfurion the Pestilant will be in at least tier 2 decks 2 months after release. I mean, I could be wrong, like really really wrong. But wagers are fun and I get a slight kick from going against the grain.
This card can't be evaluated saying stuff like Druid is the Ramp Class and its flexible so its ok if individual effects are very weak. Those two are the strengths of Druid and in this card they are treated as some reason to decrease its power level even further. Sure +3 Armor is good in a Control Class, but Druid can't control the board, because of its card pool. You can't leverage the Hero Power as much as a Warrior can. The battlecry is very low impact against both Control and Aggro and the Hero Power is on the level of Justicar Trueheart's Hero Power (Dire Shapeshift), which certainly isn't true for most other DK. I actually don't see how this HP can win against any of the DK's so far. Most generate either board presence you can't deal with or can deal damage you can't deal with (in Anduin's Case). I don't even think you play this in Big Druid because by turn 7 you want to be dropping big minions and not summon 1/2s with Poisonous or 1/5s with Taunts. Can we also talk about how they reprinted the same cards 4 times for Druid. I am of course referring to the 1/2 with Poisonus Spider and the 1/5 with Taunt Scarabs.
Its a much more humble card than others DK... Can fit in almost every druid deck with almost no downside to it. People are just forgetting that this DK can enter game in turn 3 or even 2...

Is just not best play the new 10 cost spell in turn 5 instead?
This hero is a little better than playing a Justicar in Wild...
Against aggro, it gives you 15 points of health effectively, and the damage from the 1/5 taunts might even be relevant. You then get an upgraded hero power to start actually winning the game. I think this is going to be a defining card for druid to survive into the late game with.
With Fandral out, do you get 2 spiders and 2 scarabs, or 2 1/5 taunt poisonous dudes? My guess is the latter, to mirror the new 2 mana druid card
Fair point... But as I said its a humble card, not a OP or a bad one... As the 10 mana could be a better drop at turn 5, this is not a bad drop at turn 3... I see it more like a neutral card, you dont have to build your deck around it like others DKs... Just not sure this is a good thing tho...
I think the poison spiders shouldn't be underestimated, it gives Druid some removal tools. Not Vilespine Slayer level of removal, but arguably better than, say, Corruption and Corruption-like effects. And maybe Druid will now be able to raise enough slower tokens to make Evolving Spores useful.
Now with Ultimate Infestation. Between that and Swipe and Feral Rage, Druid has potentially 26 dmg of burst. Freeze Mage has 32 dmg (not counting Glyph). I could see the +3 hero power being really useful at closing games after giving up board control. Druid can in other word be more flexible game plan wise and don't have to win the board in every game. That's a big plus. The armor gain is fine, but Druid is ironically the class with the best armor (has way surpassed Warrior). So that might not be as relevant, other than you could maybe cut an Earthen Scales and still cover all bases.
I like it and I could see it finding a place in the meta.
This should be build a beast not Hunter. This is terrible, if it was hero power +3 att +3 armor each turn it would be good but its optional so you cant even att and get any armor to soften the blow like normal. Change the battlecry, turn 7 and we get those options? EVERY other DK is broken as f and druids get this? C'thun? Jades? Crappy quest and now druids get this? Bring back combo druid so we actually have a tier 1 deck. Always pushed into brain deck decks.

The Battlecry and Hero Power might be enough to make this useful for some kind of Big Druid. It'll be fun to experiment with at least.

Not so exciting but strong
Orange is the new black, Druid is the new Control Warrior

Am a budget player trying to create fun and interesting decks. Sorry for bad spelling.

Would Malfurian's hero power be affected by Fandral Staghelm's ability ?. probably not, but it's played effect more likely.
