It seems they just wanted to add 3 mana 3/5 taunt to the game without getting any complains about how it is broken cuz it supports aggro meta even more lol.
I don't like it at all. A strict anti aggro with no offensive ablities... Just like a sludge belcher it seems rather annoying without bringing the game forward.. JUst force some extra turns for no reason.
I don't know, Belcher was pretty great at messing with control decks and was godlike in aggro/midrange mirrors. This guy is strictly control unless aggro reigns supreme.
I love this card! And I'm sorry, the people saying this is worse than Second-Rate Bruiser are morons. Second-Rate Bruiserrequires your opponent to have 3 minions on the board. In that specific circumstance, it's better. Otherwise you just got yourself a mediocre 5 drop. In every other situation, Tar Creeper is superior because Tar Creeper is always good, whether your opponent has 3 minions or only 1 and always costs the 3. Also, against aggro, that 4 attack usually doesn't mean much compared to the 3 attack.
This is my favorite card revealed so far. Highlander decks will almost universally run one of these. This also gives control decks a way to effectively counter aggro without allowing them to build up a board of 3 first. lol. Great card, I can't wait to play it.

You say that like this card wouldn't be good against anything except aggro. But I don't see why a 3/5 taunt wouldn't also be good against mid-range decks. Or even some control decks. Or say, pretty much any deck that relies on minions to deal damage. Because unless they're using targeted removal (which I wouldn't be all that sad about), they still have to go through a 3/5 taunt.
I think people are sleeping on the fact this is an Elemental, and that might be a relevant tag. Personally a 3 mana 3/5 sounds appealing enough to run to tech against Aggro and I can live with that. I rated it playable because I do think it's going to ultimately be pretty niche, and if the meta is Old Gods speed or slower it might not really be a tech option that needs to get used much.

Senjin Shieldmasta is just a 4 mana 3/5 with taunt while this comes out one turn earlier, and versatile is not a word I would use to describe a 4 mana 3/5 basic taunt. People say that Second rate bruiser is soooo much better, but it requires your opponent to have three minions on board while this is a natural 3 drop. This is a good anti aggro card and it would be silly to dismiss a card with this kind of ability until its tested out to see how good it is. I'll keep an open mind, I know that in this community most new cards are considered trash unless obviously broken as hell so we'll see.
Whats under the tar? Most likely a Magma Rager, making it a 3 manna elemental. But the tar doused the flames making it an Am'gam Rager, so it's got 1/5 in stats.
Nice try Blizzard. You almost snuck the expansion's Rager right under our noses... And as a playable card to boot. Very clever, but not clever enough!
I love this card personally, i think it is really cool. Taunt is one of my favorite card mechanics to play with for whatever reason, and this is a great addition to the taunt roster. Taunt warrior will make great use of something like this alone. Likely paladins as well.
I don't see anything wrong with taking good mechanics from other games, in fact I'd encourage it as it helps make this game better as a result if they take the good mechanics from other games.

Irony this card is the best anti aggro card but the deck best use it is aggro shaman deck with their +2 totem lolz

Tar Creeper laughs in the face of Aldor Peacekeeper.
why is it not called Tar Rager?
Great anti aggro card. Will likely see a lot of play early on to stop the inevitable aggro rush
It's not bad, but I think Sen'jin Shieldmasta and Second-Rate Bruiser are more versatile and help you make better trades on your own turn as well.
While this is a really good Anti-Aggro tool, Second-Rate Bruiser is sooo much better... This will be only seen in arena because of that unfortunately.
Cause Blizz powercrept the heck out of MSG, some of the cards will have a hard time competing.... Here's number 1.
Nice for Wild Renolock and Anti Aggro Warrior. (T2: Armorsmith T3: Tar Creeper)

Not bad. Not great, but not bad.
