So this seems solid in ramp druid. The 9 health is good enough against faster decks while the ability makes for a control deck's worst nightmare. This could actually be a playable card. Probably too slow though.
So, a great legendary minion but a really poor card. If it comes off a confessor, sneeds or a summoning stone, it's great. Otherwise this is too little value for the cost.
It would be legendary level if it said "cannot be silenced". Still would die to North Sea Kraken, though. (And the Kraken would survive with 1-health. Good luck pinging that if you're not a mage).
Anti-priest tech. And that's that. And priest is getting no love in this expansion (all new priest cards suck) so, won't see play, I think.
If you get it from a pack, can be fit in your ramp druid.
I don't think a lot of people truly understand the power of this card. After a certain point, attack isn't nearly as important as health. While 6 attack would have been preferable in order to optimize a few trades, 5 attack is still enough for a deck that would want to run a taunt out on turn 9. With a lot of late game decks shifting to more of a fatigue style, it's rare that something like this will be easily removed. While this style of play is likely not going to be as good in standard, if it ever becomes a dominant strategy (or if Rogues become strong), then this card would be good enough to try to play. Also, if mid range hunter becomes strong because of it's new bomb, then this might be a nice way to stop your big taunt from being hunter's marked.
Honestly, this is the kind of tech card that will help a number of slower greedy decks become playable even though it isn't particularly amazing looking. While I don't think Soggoth will be a staple, I have a feeling that it will be overlooked far too often in deckbuilding and be a hidden gem for deck builders who know the meta.
It does have the potential to just lock an opponent out in some situations, but it's also very vulnerable to a number of a tech cards (Equality, Keeper of Uldaman, Black Knight, or even simply silence). It could see play, but the meta has to be just right for it. Similar to Black Knight in the old days, this'll probably be a card that's constantly shuffled in and out of decks depending on the meta.
I think what people are missing is how the stats on this card are distributed. Often you hear talk about break points, such as 1hp vs 2hp and 4 hp vs 5hp, but the last big break point that's often ignored is 8hp vs 9hp. So many things can do 8 damage (the ragnaroses, the giants, the big dragons), yet few can do 9 cleanly. So even against big threats, this can can at least take one hit, requiring our opponent to either use another, most likely smaller, minion to finish it. Also on the topic of break points, Soggoth's 5 attack means if can deal with many common midgame threats, so it's likely to at least 2 for 1. Just saying that the card if understated does not take into account how the stats are actually distributed. Its stats are distributed the best possible way without just flatout giving it more stats. This card will shine during a midrange meta in control decks or a ramp druid that wants a good stall and way to help stabilize on the board, but will also just be solid in fighting slower decks even in an aggresive meta while still giving slow decks a last game drop that has a chance at stalling aggro.
The closest comparison is probably Cenarius which is also a 9 mana 5/9 that puts up a bit of a wall. Cenarius saw a fair bit of play prior to the rise of new aggressive variants and will very likely see play in Standard Druid decks. The difference between Soggoth the Slitherer and Cenarius is that although Soggoth is slightly less flexible, he puts up a much bigger wall.
With that in mind I think this card is really good. One of the important things about big legendaries is that they have some immediate effect prior to getting struck down by a spell. This card has the immediate effect of having Taunt while also being immune to getting shot down by single-target spells. The 'can't be targeted by spells or hero powers' ability also becomes much more powerful the bigger of a minion you put it on since the more likely they are to want to use a spell on it. In addition its really powerful with taunt for that reason since you're forcing your opponent to commit raw damage to this thing to get access to your face or even your other minions. The only real problem this card faces is that if it ever gets to popular people will just start playing The Black Knight.
In conclusion, not that flashy but still a cool card and may see a solid amount of play in cycles.
Here we get the same stats for 2 mana more that adds taunt and spell immune. Is that effect worth 2 mana over Captured Jormungar, which is basically just a decent arena pick?
Effect not worthy of a legendary, stats not at all appropriate for a 9-drop, can be silenced by battlecries, and comes too late in the game to save you from aggressive decks...

We'll see. I think it's going to be every hard to remove in most cases.

Overcosted taunt. This doesn't stop aggro.

This one is an Arena champ if you manage to draft it.

9points of true taunt on turn 9... Gah

We see from Captured Jormungar that 5/9 stats costs 7.

Ironbeak Owl Kappa
HS probably slow down after expansion but this is still too expensive
