I'm currently trying to decide whether or not I should craft myself a new legendary since I hit 1600 dust. Do you guys think I'm good to craft now or should I wait for the new expansion and the nerfs? I'm currently deciding between rag and alex and none of the legendaries released so far seem like cards that you need to get your hands on right away
The safe bet is to wait, however there's always the possibility that WoG yields no good legendaries and thus you wasted your time by not having crafted something good now. So, do you value your time enough to fight against temptation in a dust-torn world?
If BGH isn't nerfed to oblivion, your Alex and Ragnaros will be useless anyway. No one seriously plays Rag and Alex isn't really played outside freeze mage.
Ragnaros is still decent, and Alex is far from useless. Even if they get nerfed you'll get back the whole dust. So the real question here is "Should you wait for all WoG cards to be revealed before choosing which leg to craft next?"

secret paladin/tempo mage/rampdruid/elise decks all run ragnaros, and both control warrior/combo renolock and freeze run alextrazza, buddy

I see Boom in almost every deck, but maybe 1 in 100 decks run Ragnaros and I have not seen Alex outside freeze mage in months now. Ragnaros is too slow, overkills a small deathrattle minion and dies to BGH. He may see some play after BGH nerf in a slower meta.

And here's why he's known as Dr. Balanced. No other legend sees this much demand.
Its honestly just a matter of what term investment you want. It's definitely safer and arguably wiser to wait for the old gods, but it's also nice to savor the moment and craft that sweet legendary right now. I've decided personally to save dust, but that doesn't mean in anyway that you have to or that it's the right decision.

If this was 2014, then yes, craft Ragnaros / Alexstrasza immediately.

I sense the answer in your case would be no.
The only legendary worth crafting now vs in a few weeks in Captain Greenskin for the parrots. That's a luxury craft though.
You are not prepared!
