I have 4500 gold saved, but I wanted to buy the coming adventure with money, and use gold on expansions. Spending $20 or $25 this year on Hearthstone as a thank you seemed an okay amount for this hobby.
Problem is, there are a few things I'm starting to really dislike in this game, and I don't see Blizzard changing direction any time soon. HS is still fun and addictive though, but maybe it's time for me to take a break, I don't know.
May I suggest a stretch of arena playing then. I've been doing that recently, and it's helped keep the game fresh for me, since you never know what you'll get, either for your deck, or your opponent's. 4500 gold is probably enough to sustain arena playing for quite a long time.
If you complete a quest everyday, you can expect to have at least 50 gold per day. It the 5 wings are released at one week interval, then the amount of money you need to be able to buy all wings as soon as they are released is 700 + 4 * 7 * 50 = 2100.
So my goal getting to 2100 gold by the time the adventure is released.
I wish I could start saving gold to the next adventure, but I'm still missing a lot of cards such as Shield Slam, Gorehowl, Ice Block, Alexstrasza, Edwin VanCleef and Leeroy Jenkins, so I am opening lots of Classic Packs hoping I find them or save enough dust to craft them.
I'm in the same boat, I'm still missing so many epic classic cards, plus legendaries. So it makes it hard to try and save coins over buying classic packs. Way better to just spend the money buying the next adventure most probably
I have 5,5k gold but I will buy the adventure with money cause 25euro per year is fine on spending in a game you like and value for money for adventures is good
This poll proves that 28% of people who voted in this poll are really, really stupid.
Yeah, be proud of saving the 21 euro buy grinding 20 or more hours.
Grinding? Bwhahahahahahahahaha!
Thank you for proving my point.
That doesn't prove anything. You made a really stupid and offensive post, so i replied in the same way, but without the insult. You shouldn't take it too serious, i am aware that you might have the gold without grinding. It is cute that you didn't get that even though you are so much smarter than me and think that proves your point. Btw: a statement like yours can't be proven by example. And what else then such replies did you expect? A counterargument? I would have given one, but i couldn't, because you didn't provide any argument about your claim. You know insulting people with such a claim and don't give an argument about it is pretty weak. The fact that you only replied to my reply and didn't give an argument why i am wrong says a lot. I wonder if you this time are mature enough to take up the challenge and discuss it in a reasonable way without insults (even though it might reveal your limited point of view) or if you again just come up with insults and claims.
As of this morning, I have 11250 gold, which I think should be enough for the next adventure. Maybe I'll buy some classic packs with what is left, or maybe start saving again for next release / adventure
I will buy it on my paid account, and save on my f2p that I started in the last 2 seasons. I have about 400 gold, on my main I just spend on arenas and og packs to try and fill out my missing cards from OG, I have half of the legendaries or so and most of everything else so there will be a point where I just stop and start saving for the next pack based expansion, I will likely think about saving for that next month. I will however likely still do the preorder for that set as well.
For the amount of time and value that I get out of this game versus things like magic which I used to actively play or other video games that I buy and typically play for a couple of days to a couple of weeks I don't mind spending $20 on an adventure and $50 on an expansion preorder *Canadian money* I see this as a Card game mmo/rpg and to enjoy playing it every day if I want to that is worth something. Sorry cheapskates that want to just grind and pay 0.
On my f2p account, which is by design no money, I have to employ different tactics but Blizz is entirely fair with it if you keep your expectations reasonable and you have systems that work towards your goals using it.
For the guy that is insulting people for spending money, we don't care, perceived value can be very subjective, but it's nice you want to be all smug and superior about it.
I'm excited I hope it's a cool adventure I'm looking forward to playing through it and also seeing the how the new cards can shake things up.
The thing I like most about adventures versus regular expansions is that as someone that likes to make decks, we get all the new cards that are in the set, unlike an expansion where you might have to make crafting mistakes that you regret to try some cool ideas. Will be a fun week or so to tinker with stuff both in standard and also in wild.
I consider actually buying it since it's quite cheap compared to any other HS content and I would like to have a progress on my collection for once instead of.. hoping for big cards.. besides I think it's worth the fact that I would grind less..
Started saving yesterday. I don't get why people have so much gold and don't spend it. I hardly have gold.
Its so that when a new expansion comes out, we can buy new packs. A lot of new packs. Seems logical.
I'm sure it's because you have already spent a lot of money on the game OR played for a long time and got most of the necessary cards... most of the players don't have a lot of the cards, so saving money isn't logical, it is more logical to buy packs and try get the cards you need.

My 5 week old EU ftp has loe2 and brm2 and is approaching 700 gold. Should I buy loe3 or save for the new adventure?
I've kept my gold constant at around 4000 since Old Gods came out in preparation for the next adventure, so I'm ready. :D
got 12 wins in arena and now I have 400 gold
Everysince I was little I dream of becoming Kripp and get all salty, if you can't accept that then you should check your Kripp privilege
More people than usual will pay money rather than gold due to the sweet new rogue hero skin Blizz is giving as a purchase reward.
Might not actually be true, but if it is - you heard it here first!
