I recently stopped buy packs with gold and started to save all the gold since I have reached my personal goal of getting majority of the KFT cards I want. How much gold do you guys generally save in anticipation of a new expansion?
You'll get some pretty big numbers asking that here. Some people on this board are dedicated f2p players that complete 30 wins per day for the gold.
As someone that will most likely buy the pre purchase 50 packs. I aim to save about 6000 gold by the time an expansion hits so I can open roughly 130 packs.
It depends on luck with legend drops to whether I buy more after that or start saving immediately.

I started HS a few weeks before KFT and spent a decent amount of $ to get myself to the point of where I felt I have a good variety of deck options. My current strategy is to always aim to get around 90-95% of commons and rares through opening packs. I craft my epics and legendaries if I do not get lucky with pack opening.
I do plan to get the 50 pack pre-order and hopefully get the other 70 packs through gold which may or may not happen before the anticipated release of the next expansion in December. I will likely have to fill in the gap with $ as I am not sure how likely that 7000 gold goal will be.

For KFT and Un'Goro I saved up 3k gold Evey time; I can't say that my collection is good, but I can afford some luxuries every time: I crafted around 2-4 legendaries and several epics per expansion. I don't save up more because I enjoy opening packs.
That being said, I plan on starting to save up today: with the average 60 gold per day times 60 days until the next day expansion makes 3.6k, maybe 4k if I play some more. 40 packs are enough to get the first legendary in 10 packs max (normally the legendary comes out in the 5th pack), to get a 75% chance of opening a second legendary (which goes up the sooner you open your first legendary), and to get around 400-600 dust, good for an epic and a couple of staple rares. I guess I'm not a greedy guy.

If anyone knows of a better average number please let me know and explain your reasoning.
I'd do 130 packs:
1- Best case scenario: an average of 1 legendary every 16 packs (which was the case for several streamers on the day of launch of KFT) means that you would get max. 8 legendaries after opening 128 packs.
2- Worst case scenario: 10 packs for the first legendary and 3 pity timers (40 packs each) for the other 3. You would get a minimum of 4 legendaries after opening 130 packs.
3- Most likely scenario: the average of the above: you get 6 legendaries.
I usually save 10-11 thousand gold for each and every expansion!

Hi everyone,

If you do your quest daily ( avg gold is 50 gold ). and 12 wins daily you get 90 gold a day.
90 gold a day means 300 packs a year so 100 packs with only gold each expansion.
So that is easy, even if you progress to get higher ranks with limited cards.
Most easy is to grind gold in standard or wild and rank in the other.
Kind regards,
Michael
