What exactly is a priest player, this game is called Hearthstone not Prieststone. I'm sure TS is top100 priest every season with these statements. But I rather think he's like rank10. I'm fed up with amateur players thinking they know everything about this game..
Then gtfo this forum. How arrogant can you be? ffs.
It's not an OP card but it's a removal that can fill in some way the issue of Priest to deal with minions that have 4 attack without simply trading in your own minions (things like Ysera or Primordial Drake are also dragon so immune to Dragonfire Potion).
1x can find its way into some decklist, imho.

For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?
In my opinion, the priest legendary will be trash in the release of the expansion, but it may have some potentially if refined well in a deck that wouldn't hurt If your draws are interrupted by your opponents cards (e.g. a draw heavy deck maybe?) But i think it's too inconsistent. For example, if the meta does become a control meta, jade druid and quest mage will shit on all the other archetypes and people will probably be complaining even worst than they did with pirates.
It's a single card that forces your opponent into an awkward trade or else lose their minion. It has the same cost and effect of Sylvanas but is targeted and is a spell that can be generated through Lyra or Shadow Visions. It's expensive, yes, but so was Entomb. It doesn't prevent lethal if the minion can deliver lethal, but neither could Sylvanas.
so tell me again how this card isn't at least reasonably good?

It's funny because after thinking about Sylvanas Windrunner we can see that the "pace" of the effect is not the problem. Still, an unanswered Sylvanas still managed to grant 5 damage in exchange for its RNG.
People loved Sylvanas Windrunner, but somehow Embrace Darkness is trash? Sylvanas even had a random effect. Sylvanas also ran the risk of being silenced or transformed. Embrace Darkness actually lets you pick the minion you want, and avoids silence and transformation to your own minion. Now priest also has a way to deal with 4 attack minions. The card may not be "Meta defining", but it's certainly not a bad card.
this card isn't bad, and it's not good. If the meta slows down, this card should find its way into priest control meta.
it's situational. 8th turn. board is clear. What does the opponent play? Well, he's scared to death of dropping anything good if this card is used in the meta. so he's forced to play around or risk losing something strong that only gets to attack once.
Everyone spewing how easily the opponent will trade it in and yet they use unrealistic hypotheticals that ONLY make this card bad. It's, again, situational.
hard to trade away a tirion when it has a divine shield and 6 hp tbh. Also you force them to use removals inefficiently. I think if you have your own win condition then forcing opponent to make ineffiecient plays with their strong cards helps with the match up.
Also, with mediv, I run a mind control right now with all the taunt warrior, paladin, and giant druids. But 10 mana is too slow against midrange and aggro decks. This card is 6 mana so I can play it earlier and a 6 drop isnt too bad to summon from mediv
Because priest is a consistently popular class, any new card, no matter how bad (Purify) or how good ([card]Tortollan shellraiser[/card) ]will see some form of play, may it work or not

I'd say it's spotty decks at best. I never mind loading in to see a priest. That being said nothing feels worse than getting steamrolled by a priest with 4 tirions in one game. Those moments stand out as hyper frustrating and I think that leads to people overvaluing priest card theft and rng effect plays

Don't foget token Shaman with their rediculous OP new hero ability.
It's complete garbage. We can already use Pint-Size Potion + Cabal Shadow Priest to steal opponent's dragons.
English isn't my first language, so please excuse any mistakes.

IMO people are overrating a lot more than just priest cards, this expansion.

People don't overrate priest cards, people just like the priest class a lot so there is a lot of hype around new tools for the class.

Blizzard gave this card the "mind control" penalty.
It basically costs more than it should because having creatures stolen is a FeelsBadMan situation.
