Midrange hunter is my only viable deck at rank five, and I've just started conceding against taunt warrior; It feels like my win percentage is <5% and the games take forever. I put deadly shot, two owls, crackling razor maw has 30% chance to poison. But I just can't break through the wall.
Wirlwind and ravaging ghoul whipe out early minions. Primordial drake kills later minions; and all of thetaunt minions with attacks of 1-3 are perfectly suited to the health of typical beasts. If I somehow get lucky and get a huge heiheina it get's executed. If I somehow flood the board to try and overwhelm a taunt minion I get brawled. It's like the deck is perfectly suited to countering the mid range hunter game.
I had a Taunt Warrior taunt me the other day (I think), he didn't even play his quest until like turn 7 and still wound up cleaning the floor with me.
Infest and Piranha Launcher are just bad. Your deck isn't a value deck; it's meant to SMOrc, generally. I understand that Midrange decks are meant to be able to generate a small amount of value, but Hunter is more towards the opposite end of the spectrum.
I also agree that you have to get a bit fortunate with Mid Hunter in order to win the taunt warrior matchup. There isn't too much you can do to change that, unfortunately. Ironbeak Owl just isn't a strong tempo play due to its statline. If you really want to go full potato, then play a N'Zoth list. Your other matchups will become significantly worse, but if you aim just to beat taunt warrior, then take the full value line instead.
To answer your question, tech cards are usually a few cards that help with specific matchups. Golakka Crawler is one such card. In the aggro shaman metagame of last expansion, Acidic Swamp Ooze was a very solid tech card for many decks with a weak two-drop slot. I see that you have tech cards included to beat Mage, which is fine as well. Personally, you may just have to bite the bullet and play the hand you're dealt. Once you get the dust, switching to Rogue might be a better idea.
its funny, i've often had markedly different experiences in deck matchups than what the "community" seems to think. maybe 99% of people are netdecking a different taunt warrior than the list i run, or maybe hunters just nut draw me every game (with my luck, it wouldn't surprise me), but hunter seems like the absolute worst matchup for my taunt warrior. pretty sure i do very well in the mirror and against most priests, do well against freeze mage and miracle rogue, and pirate warrior (as long as they don't have a near perfect start), and have at least close to a coin flip against quest rogue, but i feel like i have to really thread the needle to beat hunter.

TECH cards help you against specific matchups or situations, but are weak in all other situations. Think galaka crawler or Eater of secrets.
As for your deck, I don't think think infest Nor Piranha Launcher are very goodness inclusions, and 1 Ironbeak is plenty. Adding another Rat Pack, perhaps an infested wolves would better suit the midrange hunter archetype, and the 1/1s can potential surprise help on the top taunt warrior matchup.
Your deck list is too slow. Flare doesn't do much for you, Piranha Launcher stinks, Ironbeak Owl is terrible, Infest kills your tempo, and King Crush takes too long to have any impact.
The first card you should add is Animal Companion, it's what the entire basic hunter set is built around (like Fireball for Mage, or Fiery Win Axe for Warrior). Try Fiery Bat or two to your deck, as well. Dire Wolf Alpha is really good when you don't have removal and you need to crash your tokens into a taunt.
Stampeding Kodo has lots of good targets, Tracking, because the matchup is slow enough for it and Call of the Wild because you get a board with just one card after Brawl. (But it is pretty slow in other matchups)

This makes my head explode. Cause I always feel like I'm just running into a long wall. Would you say they just kill you too quickly and that's why hunter is tough for you?
I added infest when I hit rank 5 because it seems like I run out of steam against, like, quest priest when they're on their second life and a third. it's also nice sometimes against ice mage when I get frozen / doomsayered. And flair is obviously for mage, but again, around turn 7/8 I run out of steam a lot so saving it for a draw doesn't seem that bad.
Is the general idea that I should just be going face and ignoring everything else? Like, if I run out of steam then it's just game over and should concede instead of trying to extend it?

I used to have 2 infested wolves but, again, changed them when I hit rank five trying to adjust to the meta :( They seem pretty low value compared to just about everything else. (grandmother / rat pack / savana highmane)
Rather than infest to handle running out of steam, a few midrange hunters are running Cult Master. It costs 1 more mana, and effectively does the same thing, just with cards from your deck, and a 4/2 body attached.
Infested Wolf was just a suggestion, if you found them underperforming, feel free to keep them out. I do think you could use some solid 4 and 5 drops, something like Bittertide Hydra that helps you start closing the game out fast.

yeah, me too...felt like I had most trouble with Midrange Hunter (and Garden Rogue, very close games, but I always lacked some removal - they draw too fast and you have to be really patient with Brawl)
too reactive makes sense. I saw a youtube video when i first started that said in hearthstone questions are better than answers.
does somebody wanna explain whats so great about animal companion? Its random which is bad, and even then the values not crazy and not much combo potential...
i used it when i first started out and then i think i thought I had too many three drops already or something.
I do agree you have too many 3 drops, but you could afford to drop the owls. Animal companion just always gives you a solid minion for the cost, and seems to give you Huffer 95% of the time, which means you can smorc, or bust through something in a pinch.

Hi I'm new, sorry if the formatting is bad.

Moved to Hunter Discussion.
sorry thanks
Hunters mark is good advice. I'll try that. Took it out at earlier levels, but makes sense to add it in again.
Hunters mark, deadly shot, and eagle horn bow are great additions to help deal with taunts and preserve minions.
I was thinking about taking the bow out. How does that help against minions with 5+ health?
It always seemed kinda bad since I don't play any secrets...
Hunter's Mark is your answer
Greetings, traveler.
Let's make Hunter great.
Yeah, unfortunately every deck has its bad matchups, and teching against taunt warrior isn't exactly efficient with the current meta.
EDIT: You say you don't play any secrets... maybe throw in a freezing or other cards that punish slower decks such as taunt warrior.
Sorry, I'm new; does 'trying to tech' mean using spells or something?
I made my deck if anyone wants to offer criticism...
