Introduction

Greetings fellow Hearthstoners,

I'm Welanh and I would like to present you 'L337 King Priest' as my first guide here on Hearthpwn :)

This deck focuses soley on The Lich King.

  • 1 = One and only minion / legendary in the deck
  • 3 = 3 different types of single & AoE removal spells
  • 3 = 3 different summon minion spells
  • 7 = Average 7x The Lich King (max. 10 times)

The Lich King

This setup garantuees that you will always summon the LK with Shadow Essence or any of your 4 or MORE resurrections .

Yes, The Lich King is mighty enough to rip through your opponents as One-Man Army!                    Thank you Blizzard for making my favorite Warcraft villain so badass~

Ranked winrate (will be updated after more games)

Invincible Lich King Winrate

Main Gameplan

  1. Stall for time with removal until turn 6
  2. Summon The Lich King though Shadow Essence
  3. Resurrect The Lich King if he dies
  4. Overpower your opponent with The Lich King himself and his Death Knight Cards OR use OneTurnKill combo (see in-depth section)

General Mulligan

Priority

  1. Shadow Essence (almost always keep one)
  2. Shadow Visions (never a bad choice)
  3. Circle of Healing + Embrace the Shadow combo (great early AoE against heavy aggro)
  4. Board clear AoE (Dragonfire Potion or Lightbomb)
  5. NEVER keep The Lich King or you have 2 possible dead draws aka Shadow Essence

In-depth Strategy

 Early Game:

  • To stall time until turn 6 we have more than enough removal in our deck. If necessary use single target spells only on high threat minions or boardclear if it gets too dangerous. Otherwise take the damage! we have enough heal in this deck... also get as much out of your hero power as possible.
  • If you really have to, use Shadow Visions to look for a Shadow Essence before 6 mana, otherwise use it to get yourself out of a dead end. You can also save it for a smaller spell pool, to raise %chances to look for specific cards e.g. more Resurrect/Eternal Servitude or Flash Heal OTK for late game.

Mid Game:

  • If possible clear the board before you have 6 mana and then summon the 1st LK. He is not at full power (5/5) but It's okay if he "DIES". Just be sure to have a Resurrect/Eternal Servitude ready for continues pressure.
  • Keep board control with your removal spells and death knight cards HOWEVER do NOT EVER use Army of the Dead (this is a literally a dead card for you) and Doom Pact only if absolutely neccessary! We normally can't afford losing any cards from our deck... (I recommend a deck tracker, to see if you actually can or not)
  • Often it is really tempting to just slam 2 or 3 Lich Kings on the board at once and feel superior but I highly advice against it. Not only will you draw too many cards (dead cards you can't get off your hand as mentioned above) but your opponent will most likely also have something ready for you (Lightbomb, Devolve, Consecration Combo etc.). You really really don't want to lose all your Lich Kings at once.

Late Game:

  • If you get Frostmourne or Anti-Magic Shell, you basicly hit the jackpot. If you combo Anti-Magic Shell with 1-2 Resurrect/Eternal Servitude , your opponent will have a hard time to deal with 10/10 "can't be targeted" taunt LKs.
  •  Frostmourne is great for clearing the way but it's risky to use up all durability. The weapon will summon all minions killed with FM for you but that also means that if they die, your ressurects are NOT 100% LKs anymore.
  • In case the match looks like you can't overpower your opponent, there is another way out. Try to recognize the situation early and save up for a OTK

OneTurnKill:

  • It really depends on how you survived the first rounds, which spells you got/used and how much you went face already.
  • Remember Flash Heal can transform to 5 damage with Embrace the Shadow. Through Shadow Visions you have the chance to collect up to 3-4 Flash Heals in total.
  • Death Coil is 5 damage and Death and Decay 3 to all enemies including the hero.
  • Holy Fire is 5 damage but most of the time exepensive and is better used early to clear minions/heal up.

Class Match-Ups

druidDruid

  • If the druid uses Living Mana late game, you can use Mass Dispel + any AoE Combo to erase all his mana crystals = game over... or at least he is crippled for a loooooong time.

  •

mageMage (difficult)

    • Jaina Proudmoore is the bane of our existence... not because of Frost Lich Jaina but Polymorph! If she gets to sheep our 1st LK, the deck system will be delayed heavily.
    • You will have to bait her to trade her minions/blast the 1st LK or kill him yourself.
    • Another option would be to aim for 2x Shadow Essences early on.
    • If you encounter OTK Quest Mages, your Death Grip can steal their Archmage Antonidas and nullify their combo.

Card Decisions

  • The only reason why I don't run Shadowreaper Anduin is simply because I don't own him :D I will try him out as soon as I have enough dust or maybe luck~
  • Mind Control is strictly used for a enemy The Lich King because you don't want anything else lying dead in your graveyard. This is a possible space for Shadowreaper Anduin to fill.
