After a very, very, very long tinkering phase I finally present you a rogue deck featuring Poisoned Blade and Sideshow Spelleater. It's played like Handlock (Warlock Giants), but is a huge difference between both: In Handlock you get a lot of cardadvantage of the warlock's hero power, while in this deck you have Burgle as a pseudo-card draw, but the 2x Fan of Knives, Bloodmage Thalnos and 2x Azure Drake will provide some more draw. Curious? there is more, please read on!
How to play this deck:
The Idea of the deck is to use your hero power a lot and one of the cards that benefit the most out of is the Poisoned Blade - you want to get a really huge attack dagger. After you have equipped the blade you can swing two times with it to clear some stuff (or you save the charges for more damage later in the game). The last charge is planned to be the fatal damage to your opponent. Depending on the class you play against, you can decide to play Sideshow Spelleater, and here is were the fun begins. Except for Shaman all classes provide you a good hero power and if your opponent already played his Justicar Trueheart or is already in Lord Jaraxxus form you get an insane value out of this card. Those two cards provide already very fun games, but you do not need it to win the game. If you draw them very late, they might be still usefull. Don't get mad if your weapon gets detroyed somehow, it's always a very risky play to leave a weapon up for a very long time.
That's it? No, there is more! Let's talk about some big threats...
It tried this deck will all variants of giants and got the best results with Frost Giants combined with Molten Giants. Both Giants are played at very low mana cost and you should play max two giants at the same time. Giving them taunt with the Sunfury Protector hides your face again from your opponent.
You have a decent spell tool box for direct spells - 2x Backstab, 2x Eviscerate, 2x Sap and only 2x Fan of Knives for AOE damage, try to use them with Bloodmage Thalnos. Fan of Knives had to be in the deck because of all the token style decks floating around in the current meta. I also tried Explosive Sheep and Betrayal, but the Fan of Knives worked out best.
Beneath the Grounds is one of the best cards in the whole set. The mechanic is almost unique (except for Iron Juggernaut) and you get a huge value out of three mana - 12/12 stats in 3 minions per 4/4, that's an amazing tempo swing and they all have charge, which mean, they are ready on your turn to attack!Tech Cards which can be changed: Big Game Hunter, Mind Control Tech, Ironbeak OwlEmperor Thaurissan, Sylvanas Windrunner are your midgame threats, all of them need to be answered from your opponent somehow.
Finally Burgle gives you some card draw and I did not have a single game where the burgled cards were useless!
When you've played both Molten Giants you can use your Antique Healbots to heal up (if both are left of course).
Update 10.09.2015:
Wow, I didn't expect so much positive feedback, the deck even made it to the frontpage and that was a really good feeling! Thank you all for that!
I have read all your comments and will answer here some questions/feedback you made. Moreover I tinkered the deck a bit to have a stronger early game and a more powerful AOE. The complete mana curve is now a bit faster which allows you to hero power more.
Cards removed and why:
Sylvanas Windrunner - got silenced most of the time or just got killed with some removal spells, max value I got is maybe 1 exra turn where your opponent removes her and plays nothing or small stuff.
- Emperor Thaurissan - since the mana curve is now way cheaper and your high threats are discounted anyway you don't need this card in this deck
- Ironbeak Owl, silence is still strong in every deck, but I needed the SI:7 Agents for more tempo in the early game
- Mind Control Tech - a good tempo card when you are playing against dragon decks, but against aggro most of the time you get just a small minion and have a 3/3 on board. Eleminated some RNG for more consistensy
Cards added and why:
- 2x SI:7 Agent for more early game and tempo plays
- 2x Frigid Snobold - this card made it over Piloted Shredder and Refreshment Vendor in the deck, it lacked 4-drops. Spelldamage minions are always "soft-taunt" minions in a rogue deck, your opponent will not ignore him, but if he does, you get crazy value out of Fan of Knives, with another spelldamage minion on board you often can change complete board state. Since you already have 2x Antique Healbot the Refreshment Vendor is just a statpoint moved from Attack to Health compared to the Frigid Snobold. In addition to that: no Piloted Shredder because you want to lower your RNG more. With Beneath the Grounds and Burgle you already have 4 huge RNG cards, that should be enough for a "normal" deck.
Card that didn't make it and why:
- Alexstrasza - well, these words you hear a lot when it comes to specific cards: "too slow for current meta", and that's true in this deck, Molten Giant + Antique Healbot + Sunfury Protector is 7 Mana when you are at 10 life or below and will bring you back with (at least) one 8/8 taunt, 1 3/3 taunt and a 2/3 minion + 8 life = 18 life, where as Alexstrasza is only 1 minion, no taunt and brings you to 15 life.
Volatile Cards, cards that could find place in this deck:
- Bolf Ramshield - still experiencing with this card in other decks, I will try it in this deck
- Anub'arak - instead of 1 Frost Giant, still testing
I hope you have fun with the deck.
If you like it, please rate it or leave a comment (or both)!
This deck is currently played on meta season 17. See it live on my stream!

So I've been trying this deck out for awhile now. I really like it however I feel like you get a ton of awkward turns a lot of the time mostly when beneath the grounds or burgle is played just because they do not always do something immediately. So I have removed both beneath the grounds and burgle along with sideshow spelleater. I have replaced these cards with.
2 Piloted Shredders: I just felt the deck needed more 4 drops.
2 raptors : My reasoning is sometimes SI7 can feel awkward on turn three if you have no combo. However just throwing down a raptor by its self is not a terrible play.
1 Sir Finley : I don't think I should have to explain this one. Sideshow spell eater just costed so much mana. Sir finley can be played at any stage in the game. You get more of a choice than just your opponents hero power. He is a decent one drop and you can easily get a double hero power off him.
Since Tomb pillager is not out yet I cannot see how that works but I might replace the shredders with tomb pillagers. Another possibility could be brann.
In all I want this deck to be a thing.
It doesnt work for me.
The remove mechanics isnt enough in this meta. Its too late to play tha giants.
I will overhaul this deck with LoE cards as all of them are released, please have patience :-)
Thank you for the fast reply.
Im wating for the updat, cuz my favorite class is the rogue and love to use other viable deck than oil, malygos and mill :).
Very fun deck, i'm actually enjoying it !
I'm cutting one Frigid Snobold and one Antique Healbot and added Harrison Jones and one Shadowstep, so I can melt weapons, and re-taunt the silenced giants or heal them with Shadowstep. The Shadowstep can also be used with the Big Game Hunter, preventing big creatures found in control warriors or priests. I'm sure that something else could be cut instead of the Frigid Snobold, but I think one is clearly enough.
What do you think of these modifications ?
Leolph, you've got to make a revamp of this deck when League of Explorers comes out! :)
Thank you :-)
This deck + this week's brawl: so much damn fun.
would love to try this deck but really dont want to have to craft all those seemingly bad cards like beneath the grounds or sideshow spelleater which i would never use in any other deck in any other way.
Damn, this is really cool. I'm still very skeptical about the Frigid Snobold and would love to put Anub'arak into the deck. I'll try some stuff out and see what happens.

Nice, thank you for providing that link. First I thought Kripp would talk about Phantomas, but that was not the case. Maybe next time ;-)
So far I really like this deck lots of fun!
Could you be more specific in the deck game plan and mulligan? From the results of my test at rank 20, I have many troubles:
_Poisoned Blade is either a dead card or big tempo loss play
_Frost Giant have a big mana cost at turn 4 5 and can't be played like Mountain Giant in handlock
Other than that, the deck is very fun to play and feel awesome when the Rngesus is with you.
Thankyou
Sure, against aggro/tempo decks you want to mulligan for your rogue removal tool box (see cards above). If you have The Coin you can keep 1 Beneath the Grounds. If you get a Molten Giant and a Sunfury Protector against a face hunter you might also want to keep both cards. Don't keep a Antique Healbot, because this three card combo is still 7 Mana all in all.
Against control/combo decks always hard mulligan for Beneath the Grounds. If you are on The Coin, you can keep a Burgle. Against Paladin you might also want to keep a Fan of Knives.
Against aggro/tempo Poisoned Blade is sadly a dead card, you can treat it as a 6-drop.
Frost Giants are played late game, you always mulligan them.
Lost 10 games in a row with this deck and just gave up. Never got poisoned blade to do anything at all. Always over powered and dominated on board. Very very very painful 1.5 hrs of my life.
That's sad to read, but you don't really need the Poisoned Blade to win games, it's just an addon to that deck, as written in the description.
What went wrong?
How did you mulligan?
What classes you played against?
Thank you Leolph!
I love the Phantomas deck, though I am struggling against aggro. So I have tried to tinker with this deck.
This is what I am playing right now, but it just still doesn't cut it.
(I don't have many giantcards, so perhaps the Molten Giant makes a lot of difference.)
Ok, here my thought about it:
- Trade Prince Gallywix - I'd love to play this card but with the release of Flamewaker this legendary is almost unplayable, even more when you are playing a control deck and you already have a lot of hand cards, then you will get less value and your opponent even more tempo with all that The Coins.
- 1x Acidic Swamp Ooze & 1x Sabotage- Although I just made the deck Metalove playing with a lot of weapon destruction, I think that Parton Warriors don't get that much hurt loosing 1 Whirlwind effect, they have enough in their deck. Against secret Paladin it might only be useful against Ashbringer. There are not much Doomhammer Shamans in the current meta. So either you should run at least 2 of them or 1 and Harrison Jones or sub them out for a better 2 drop / another high drop. The destroy effect of Sabotage in the token heavy meta right now, not sure about that, it's another random effect. But hey, if you see a lot of mirror matches I would be very proud if you destroy huge buffed Poisoned Blades ;-)
- 2x Piloted Shredder - I know that this card counts as one of the best 4 drops in the game, but I don't like the random effect as the random 2-cost minion can win/loose you games and with Beneath the Grounds and Burgle you already have 4 huge RNG cards in the deck. So the best 4 drops for rogue with a lot of spells is the Frigid Snobold as he is very sticky with his 6 hp and most aggro players ignore him, which is a big advantage for you.
- Cutting 1x Sap - That's very ok, in Phantomas Dragon Edition i cut both of them to get more threats in the deck.
- 2x Deadly Poison - when you play with weapon enhancements you also should play with at least 1 Blade Flurry. With all that giants I had no room for that, but as you don't run any giants you can do it.
All in all a good composition you have made here, I really would appreciate more feedback for my decks like you dit, thank you for that!
