Exciting news, News of Standard is in the air and I have adjusted the deck accordingly. This deck is highly experimental. I'm unsure of how well cards like Arathi Weaponsmith will do with Death's Bite now being out of the game. Shieldmaiden and Sludge Belcher are also big hits.
This is a much lower curve control Warrior with Elise Starseeker to win control match ups. With this deck you don't have to worry about drawing cards against another control deck since if you draw Golden Monkey, fatigue wont matter. That part hasn't changed with the advent of standard.
It might actually correct to now make this deck super slow since the removal of the majority of difficult to deal with deathrattle cards means aggro is taking a HUGE hit.
EDIT: Added C'Thun's Chosen because it's a really good card even without C'Thun and also N'Zoth's First Mate because:
Compare it to Living Roots. Living Roots, as we all know, is a really good card. With this card, instead of a second 1/1, you get a 1/3 weapon. It's pretty clear that a Heavy Axe is a lot better than a Wisp. And just like Living Roots, the weapon allows this card to be extremely useful in the late game as an extra Execute enabler.
In Wild, this card is even more beautiful. For too long, warriors have gotten immeasurably screwed by minions with divine shield like Annoy-o-Tron and Shielded Minibot. Well NO LONGER, my fellow brothers in arms. Finally, we have a cheap way to ping of divine shields as Warriors.
The dream with this card is you're playing against an aggressive deck. They turn Leper Gnome. You smack down N'Zoth's First Mate and put that diseased gnome out of it' misery. Then, to follow up they play Knife Juggler. You play a 2-drop or even just Armor Up! and trade your 1/1 and you weapon into the Knife Juggler. Congratulations, your 1-drop just traded two for one with 3 mana worth of stuff and you still have a 1/1 Rusty Hook left over to destroy something else.
This is Muster for Battle except you're paying a 3rd of the mana for a 3rd of the 1/1s and still getting almost the full weapon.
Added some stuff because new cards came out.

EDIT: teched in The Black Knight because of all the targets
I feel like those minions are worse on their own. and the fact that you're missing out on battlecrys really isn't a big deal since you're getting those huge bodies for almost 0 mana. You're right about the aoe's though. I guess the strategy is you bait out the AOE before you play it.
Card is solid. I subbed out a Shield Block for it. Solid card against aggressive early game. You generally don't want your opponents early game to get so out of hand that you have to use more than 1 Brawl anyway. In a more control heavy meta however, Shield Block is better. Priests had a card like this in beta that got removed.
Definitely a consideration. I actually just completly forgot about it. You would probably put it in instead of the Frost Giant
I think second brawl instead of shield block would work better to stay alive in many situations since you have 2 acolyte and varian for the card draw. Cool deck.
The Shield Block is too useful in combination with Shield Slam. Most control warriors already run 2 Shield Block so cutting one is already a bit of a stretch. I definitely can't cut a second one since i took out a Shieldmaiden for Varian Wrynn. Decks with 2 Brawl are usually trying to get specifically Grim Patron decks. If anything has to go it may be the Frost Giant which makes me a bit sad because giants are cool. Right now, I think the deck is fine as it is save for some fine tuning and minor adjustments when the expansion comes out.
Thank you for the suggestion, and if you like the deck remember to upvote!
I think it all comes down to the meta. Justicar might take out alot of armor cards for CW... but who knows....must be tested
The point isn't that they just give armor. It's that they give a sizable amount of armor IMMEDIATELY so that you can play the armor card and then Shield Slam something for 5 damage.
This^
Shield Block gives back insane value for CW in the mid game when used with Shield Slam
IMO it is one of the strongest cards in the CW toolkit when used correctly.
Reason:
1. For 3mana it provides a 5 hp heal
2. It cycles itself and due to the amount of high mana minions CW has drawing into a card like Varian Wrynnsooner can win games.
3. For 1 mana more (4 total) you get all the above and the ability to do a minimum of 5 damage on demand to ANY minion.
If i could have x3 in my deck i would !!
