Deck Overview:
Dragon Priest really popped off after the Blackwing Adventure but this deck got kind off forgotten when the Old Gods spread their madness around. Now it's back stronger than ever :) I'm happy to show you my new version of Dragon Priest!
Key cards & Controversies:
You always want to play on curve, that's the key of this deck. As long as you keep board control you're on the winning side. This deck has a few comeback cards like Chillmaw but I wouldn't count on those too much. Keep your minions alive and trade efficient.
Mulligan Strategy:
Twilight Whelp is the best one drop for sure! It's like Zombie Chow without deathrattle! Against aggro it trades 2 for 1 or eats away a spell.
Other cards you might want to get are: Blackwing Technician, Northshire Cleric, Power Word: Shield, Wyrmrest Agent for the synergy.
Major Revisions:
nothing changed yet

Thanks for all the suggestions you made. I really appreciate it!
I'm rank 7, not the best, but enough to tell that this deck goes nowhere in ranked.
Now if you posted this for fun in friendly games it's alright, but so is any piece of crap you can assemble to play in friendly matches.
People here expect decks that work in ranked. This one doesn't.
And yeah, post your rank, just so we see if this comes from a rank 20 clown or if you are serious.
EDIT: Downvote as much as you want, you just prove my point. Only noobs are using this deck, noobs that will never get past tank 20.
Yeah, 7 isn't that good, and it is certainly not good enough to make you an authority on crap.
Rank 5 now, and i have nothing to hide, while you.... well we are still waiting to see your rank since you posted this garbage deck.
Or maybe it's so low you don't wanna show us? That youtube video just shows friendly games, looks like someone has something to hide. but again, a noob deck can come from a noob only.
We still don't see any proof, not even a screenshot... sure you are rank4...
Also, are you implying that you get rank 4 with a cancer deck? Why not with this one? Because it's actually bad?
+217 like on this garbage deck, this is the real offense, and speaking of kids, those are most likely the reason why this deck got so many likes.
Adults don't play this awful deck. Adults normally post a deck with their rank achieved with said deck, just to prove they are not talking BS.
But you are obviously not an adult.
"Nothing to hide" but you haven't shown us anything yet, you're just hiding behind your comments. Instead of bashing someone else's deck, why don't you make one of your own, or instead use a positive approach and post an updated version of how you modified this deck to work for you, instead of coming on forums and making your self look like a R3t4rD
I feel like a lot of dragon decks will be coming out looks like a cool deck though.
My preferred form of Dragonpriest is an aggro setup, running Dragonkin Sorcerers and a Blackwing Crusher rather than late-game dragons like Chromaggus and Ysera, and just beating my opponent to death. I prefer leaving the more control-oriented late-game style to my Dragondin deck. Still, the addition of Wyrmrest Agents may make this variant more appealing- at least as soon as I can GET some of the bloody things!
Not sure what it is but aggro is kicking my butt. No luck in card draws, not drawing any AOE's :(
-1 Mind Control +1 Holy Nova?
OMG!!!
+ 1 Confuse
- 1 owl
confuse is a two mana win condition in and of itself. E
Even if you only have a 3/5 a 1/3 and a 2/4, with CONFUSE you all of the sudden have 12 Burst!! It's pretty nuts.
synergy with Ysera, Velens Chosen, and Power Word: Sheild. and there 13 targets where confuse wil get you at least 2 more damage, and that 3/6 is awesome , I don't even mind playing it as a 2/6 if I have confuse. Made me run Justicar Trueheart. If you can't go face the do some supervalue trades.
check it out. It's awesome!!
Been playing this deck for about 10 games now. I kept getting beat by control warrior which were about half my match ups - can't seem to do much about Alexstrasza and Grommash towards the end of the game... The deck does really well against aggro decks though.
I will try the deck because before i was trying to make Dragon priest good but mine was like yours but with some little different changes (before tgt out) and now i will try yours but i will change Chrommagus into Emperor Thaurrisan so i can get discount on those high mana cards and might have bigger tempo plays.
Have been running this deck for around 5-6 games, haven't lost yet. I substituted hungry dragon for shredder and one death for another lightbomb, especially since so many people are trying for control heavy decks. This stats cold be skewed atm due to everyone trying out new decks, but the new 2 drop for priests and the 4 drop neutral dragon are def helping this deck out a lot.
I would not recommend running Hungry Dragon. Having done a lot of experimenting with dragon priest, I would recommend running something like Piloted Shredder (yes, even though it isn't a dragon) or Dragonkin Sorcerer. Hungry Dragon is simply too useless against aggro decks. This compounded with the fact that you run only one Holy Nova and one Lightbomb means that the chances of being able to just AOE down that 1 drop the following turn are very slim.
I would also recommend dropping one Shadow Word: Death for another Lightbomb as many of your creatures will survive the bomb, and it deals with bad match-ups such as patron warrior and handlock quite nicely. I might also drop Ironbeak Owl (this suggestion you may want to ignore, as I am simply not a fan of the owl in Priest AT ALL) for Deathwing largely because the increased number of board wipes and recovery mechanics may become necessary with the increasing strength of Control Warrior and Dragon Mage. Additionally, Deathwing is the perfect dragon for a dragon deck, as his best use is to be held until absolutely necessary. Simply for the hell of it, I would also consider running Power Word: Glory over Shadow Word: Pain as both effectively act as removal for early game, aggressive minions, but Power Word: Glory is cheaper and more versatile. This said, I realize that it is far worse against cards like belcher and other minions with powerful text.
One of the major issues which I see with this deck is it's week mid-game board presence. It has plenty of late game with a plethora of dragons, and great early game with dragon synergy cards up to turn 4, but both turns 5 and 6 are sorely lacking, with every creature present in the 5 and 6 drop slot needing some condition to be met in order to be worth playing. With Blackwing Corruptor this condition of holding a dragon will often be met (though those rare occasions where it is not met will be devastating). Normally a deck with such strong early game wouldn't find this to be a problem, but given that this is a priest deck which will have 10+ turn games more often than not, having a solid turn 5/6 is often critical. Perhaps adding something like Harrison Jones over the owl/SW:P would help with this, or adding something with a solid turn 6 body like Toshley.
Sorry for the long comment, as you can tell I am rather opinionated regarding dragon priest, having spent a lot of time myself trying to get the deck to work. Hopefully though, you found some of this comment to be useful. I'll be watching this deck to see if it becomes potent in the new meta.
Woah woah woah let's back it up a second here. First of all, I am not complaining about the deck. You posted it on this site to receive community feedback, and that is what I am providing. Second of all, the fact that I haven't tested this in TGT should have been obvious. I didn't think it necessary to state that my testing with dragon priest happened at any point other than the post BRM meta. That said, aggro decks will not simply vanish in TGT, and I have played hungry dragon against aggro decks, as should have you. I fully intend to test out the deck, and am more than willing to keep you appraised of my findings, assuming you do not scoff at them as quickly as you scoffed at my suggestions.
I will fully qualify my experience with dragon priest for you as well since that seems necessary: I have worked with Tomisnthere to create a dragon priest deck post BRM, wherein I determined that many of the post BRM dragons are not strong enough to support a dragon priest deck. Tom persisted in his efforts to make dragon priest work, as any passionate deck builder would. I also created my own variant of dragon priest called Dragon Lord Velen, a dragon based combo priest which got me to legend 3 times, and got me to rank 51 legend in season 13. Furthermore, I worked with a streamer named TaikiM13 in refining dragon priest, and we concluded through rigorous testing that Hungry dragon, even in a dragon deck, tends to be inferior to piloted shredder, largely due to its underwhelming nature against aggro decks.
Many of my suggestions would take this deck more towards being a control deck than being a tempo dragon priest, and I recognize this, largely because I believe that if dragon priest will fit into any archetype, it will be control. However, I also recognize that this is your deck not mine, and therefore anything which I suggest to you (along with my thought process) is just that: a suggestion. No-one is trying to force you to change YOUR deck.
If you would like, I can take my opinions elsewhere. However, if you do value the feedback of someone who has a high degree of experience with dragon priest decks, I would dial the sass back about 5 levels. Either result is fine with me.
Since the deathwing change seems to be the one that you have the biggest issue with, I will refer back to when i stated "this is a suggestion you may want to ignore, as i am simply not a fan of owl in priest AT ALL."
I have yet to see any defense regarding swapping out hungry dragon, especially given that Twilight Guardian is now out. The only decks it is good against are decks which have a minimal board presence, and such control decks are already favorable match-ups for this deck.
In testing i have found that cards such as Toshley are highly effective in a tempo deck, given their immense stats/mana cost ratios. This becomes even more relevant with cards like Justicar Trueheart coming out. Granted, Blackwing Corruptor already handles this, but Toshley can handle cards like shieldmaiden, ancient of lore, loatheb, emperor thaurissan, belcher, etc and survive, where Blackwing Corruptor cannot. I am not suggesting that you replace blackwing corruptor, but am rather suggesting including something like toshley, or at least harrison to help with your match-ups against control decks like paladin and warrior, and to improve priest's notoriously bad rogue match-up.
I know you worked with Tomisnthere as well. I also know he asked you for feedback on his deck, and did not ask you to recreate the deck yourself to compete with his. Granted you give him credit for the idea in your description, but I have done nothing so drastic as recreating your deck and siting you for the idea while touting how much better my version is. Ironic how you are upset with me for even daring to suggest changing your deck into something new when that is something you yourself did to another. Two can play the mud-slinging game.
I don't expect you to change your deck at this point, as this has turned into an argument rather than some constructive thread, but I do feel it necessary to qualify that I am not trying to force you to change your deck. I have my stance and my opinions, as I have stated, and you can choose to embrace or ignore them. I do not, however, expect to be attacked for suggesting something which you do not agree with. The closest thing to a reason which you have given me for refusing my changes are: I don't like deathwing (which is valid) and: your previous two posts were too long, so i didn't read them all the way, which does not even come close to qualifying as a legitimate reason. Otherwise, everything else you have stated seems to be an attack on me instead of my arguments, which warrants no response.
This is my last post towards this deck. I sincerely hope that I am a unique case in terms of the lack of receptiveness to suggestions on this deck.
Edit: Just for the record, I have not disliked a single one of Arkarion's comments.
Hey DuTogira screw this guy lol...I wanna know YOUR deck list. Mind posting it? Or even making your own deck page? You got my vote ;) I think hungry dragon is a bit ridiculous myself especially with the terrible-but-great-when-free new 1-drops. I was thinking about death wing myself...idk man early/mid game for me seems to be alright, but I'm getting murked late game (my own creation too lame to list). Would love some of your guidance since I stubbornly wanna get priest to legend
Check out tomisnthere's list. If you are really interested in my list check out my dragon lord Velen deck on my profile, but know that it is not an amazing deck for laddering. Velen combo priest still hasn't recieved enough support to be a competitive deck unfortunately.
Agree on Hungry Dragon. Cards that give your opponent cards (Mech Yeti, Hungry Dragon) generally backfire in my experience.
You know someone's realised they've lost an argument when they resort to the "I'm not even going to respond to that" argument.
DuTogira put their suggestions across as suggestions and nothing more, there was no need to overreact and act like child who's getting scolded. Your accusation that they didn't have enough testing to prove their point is ridiculously irony laden given how vehement you are that your choices are 100% correct with the exact same amount of time testing them.
Also hungry dragon sucks. Deal with it.
