I have decided to discontinue updating this deck due to the rotation of it's core cards. Thank you to for all the support I have received during the span of the year of the mammoth and raven.
If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know down in the comments.
This was the F2P tempo list for my alternate account, I will try my best to update it every expansion. If you don't own either of the Vilespine Slayers you can replace them with Sap. I do however highly recommend having at least one as it is currently one of the most important cards in the deck.
While this deck lacks a good chunk of important (But expensive) cards like Prince Keleseth, Leeroy Jenkins and Edwin VanCleef. It can still manage to aggressively take the win by utilizing your powerful mid game minions and cheap burst damage. A new card I've been excited for that was recently added in the Witchwood expansion is Hench-Clan Thug, this card is insanely threatening in the early to mid-game and I am glad it can fit in this list only being a common, you will almost always want this in your opening hand as it by it self can snowball into a giant minion your opponent will have a hard time dealing with. Cobalt Scalebane and Fungalmancer work very well to keep your side of the board strong, while other cards like Elven Minstrel and Shadowstep help you gain the value needed to keep throwing down pressure. The most expensive card in this list (in terms of dust), which of course is Vilespine Slayer, is replaceable by Sap, but I highly recommend having at least one as it is very strong and works very well with Shadowstep.
Due to Baku the Mooneater paladin I decided to keep in the two copies of Fan of Knives as it is apart of the basic set and does well at keeping their small tokens off the board. Shadowblade was a strong card I considered in the past but later found that Deadly Poison fit the deck better as it was apart of the basic set and works well with the other cards that requires a combo activation.
Mulligan
The Basics: The goal of this deck is to push for board control and win by utilizing your strong early to mid game minions. In all match ups, the most important cards to fish for in the Mulligan stage are your early game minions and cheap removal. Cards like Backstab and Fire Fly are going to be the highest priority as they offer the best value in maintaining the board in the early stages of the game. If you are going second, keeping one SI:7 Agent or Elven Minstrel will be a good idea as coining it can swing the board or give a lot of value early on.
Against Aggro: When playing against aggressive decks, maintaining the board in the early game will be the highest priority as falling behind will result in a quick and overwhelming defeat. the most important cards to mulligan for will be: Hench-Clan Thug Tar Creeper, SI:7 Agent, Backstab and Fire Fly.
Against Control: When playing against slower decks, overwhelming your opponent early on and gaining the value necessary to keep applying pressure will be important, Elven Minstrel is by far one of the strongest cards in these match ups as being able to draw your threats is absolutely necessary to stay in the game. Shadowstep will be your best friend when it comes to staying ahead as being able to get back another Vilespine Slayer and Elven Minstrel is very important. The Mulligan is very similar, just fish for your early game cards and keep SI:7 Agent if you are going second. Note that Spellbreaker is a must have against Warlock as stopping them from getting out a Voidlord early on will be game changing.
ended up crafting all three minions, Leeroy Jenkins, Prince Keleseth and Edwin VanCleef, well that's not true, found out I had them already, and made the suggested swaps, but what would be a good replacement for Cold Blood, since its now a 2 cost card?
I haven't played much these past few months so I haven't been able to experiment with this new patch. Meaning I don't exactly know what you could put in for a replacement just yet. However since it does need to removed for Prince Keleseth, I'll suggest you try adding in 2x Argent Squire or 2x Dire Mole to fit into the early game slot.
I don't play standard, always preferred formats that let you use older cards (I play many other card games), anyway been playing around with your deck, but I sometimes find my self running out of steam so I figured some sort of card draw to replace Cold Blood, Argent Squire and Dire Mole sound like good options but with the 1 drops the deck already has I feel its good enough for early play and to trigger combo cards later on, I'm only rank 23 on standard been playing around with Pilfer and Mimic Pod but since I dunno what the meta is higher up... never been there haha, I have no clue what would be a better option out of the two, on one hand you have nice setup for a combo card but a random reward, on the other you have a nice draw that will give you a card consistent with the deck, but at a higher cost and hard to combo with, I understand you haven't played in a few months but well I'm using your deck and I assume you have more experience in the meta in standard that I so I figured i'd bugg you a bit more with this question and your thoughts.
I'm actually a wild player myself, I always like playing the non rotation formats in Shadowverse and Hearthstone as I hate having the cards I payed for become useless haha. I only play standard on my second account which is the account I used this deck for. Pilfer and Mimic Pod definitely would not fit into this deck as they are both way to slow. However, there were some cards that I have used in the past for more card generation/draw so I'll suggest these - Swashburglar, Blink Fox, and Fan of Knives. Fan of Knives was a card I had in the deck back when odd paladin was first introduced and everyone was playing it, its more of a tech card for when you are playing against aggro so its not going to be the strongest option but its something you can run to help against other aggressive decks. Swashburglar was played back in the day when Patches the Pirate was a thing. Nowadays Swashburglar isn't really played in tempo lists as there are better one drops (for tempo), but I suggest you try it since you are looking for more value generation, or if you want to try Blink Fox which is pretty much a beefier Swashburglar. Also remember you have Shadowsteps you can use on your Elven Minstrels, I suggest using your Shadowsteps on him when you are playing against slower decks because it definitely helps.
Oh and another thing to add, if you are playing this in wild Argent Horserider and Loatheb are also good options.
I'm playing some sort of Mill N'Zoth for wild, I actually just made your deck because it was the cheapest and most viable looking thing I found on the forums and cause of the special tavern brawl event which required to make a standard deck... in which I completely miss read the game mechanics and ended up failing epicly, so I'm on a redemption run here trying to make your deck work on standard since I used about 1000+ dust to make some of the cards and goddamint I'm gonna have fun with this deck even if it kills me!
On a non cry for vengeance note; Swashburglar was my immediate goto card to replace Cold Blood but it's no longer standard, Fan of Knives from the games I've had so far there has not been a matchup where I wish I had it in the deck (who knows later up the ranks) maybe I'll reconsider), so that leaves us with Blink Fox, which i'm about to try out cause after considering my thoughts and your comments on Pilfer and Mimic Pod I do see why you say they are slow for the deck, which are the same reasons I originally immediately thought of Swashburglar as a replacement for Cold Blood, we need bodies on the field, I was looking at a few other alternatives but are cards I'm not gonna craft but found interesting such as Face Collector, Sonya Shadowdancer, King Mukla and Zola the Gorgon all 3 cost that kindda made sense to me for this deck.
But yeah one of the things that keeps bothering me is that I sometimes end up with an empty hand and I'm debating between 2 Fatties or some sort of way to replenish your hand,
Any further input is appreciated. thanks thus far for the responses.
Sonya Shadowdancer is played in a lot of tempo lists so she could definitely fit and would probably work well for you. My suggestion to you is to just keep experimenting and see what works best.
This deck is so much fun.
New to rogue and got a real Nice winrate with this deck, I was wondering If there is something that I could do to improve It, any specific legendary I could use Here and what should I replace.
There are three specific legendaries in standard that would fit in to improve this deck: Leeroy Jenkins, Prince Keleseth and Edwin VanCleef. In terms of power level and overall usefulness Prince Keleseth would probably be the strongest one to fit in as simply drawing it on turn two could single-handedly win you games, especially if you are also able to draw Shadowstep and use it on him. Leeroy Jenkins being (In my opinion) the second strongest option and Edwin Vancleef being the third. While Prince Keleseth is very strong, I would say that Leeroy Jenkins will be your safest craft. Leeroy Jenkins Serves as a powerful and almost necessary finisher, as it gives you the final reach of damage to finish off games. It is especially good comboing him with Cold Blood and Shadowstep as they offer more reach in terms of burst damage. Edwin VanCleef on the other hand is more of an optional fit, he serves as just an overall beefy minion that has potential for big high-roll turns and is something to apply pressure with.
However, while Prince Keleseth is strong, he will be rotating out to wild once the next expansion releases, which means you will only be able to play him for another two or so months. Because of this, I heavily advise to just craft Leeroy Jenkins as he is apart of the classic set and will stay in standard. As I said earlier, Edwin VanCleef is optional but if you have the dust, it wouldn't hurt crafting him as he will always be a solid minion. Overall what you decide to craft will be up to you, if you end of crafting all three minions, remove both Eviscerates and one Deadly Poison. If you only craft Leeroy Jenkins Take out one Deadly Poison. If you craft Both Leeroy Jenkins and Edwin VanCleef take out one Deadly Poison and one Tar Creeper. I hope this helps, and if you have any more questions please feel free to let me know.
Thanks for the advice. If I'm using this deck and throw in Leeroy, which 1 card would you remove?
1x Deadly Poison
Cold Blood and Prince Kelesethdont mix
This was before the patch, I have yet to make changes
Does zilliax work in this deck? I wanna swap it with the epic card in this deck.
He's not a card I'd personally put in this deck, but if you do end up running him over Vilespine Slayer you should take out both of the Fan of Knives and put in two Saps
Where can I get some pizza?
You can find where to get some by going into your internet browser and searching up the nearest location near you.
Thank you, but I am new at this internet thing. It linked me to some weird XXX youtube rip off? Could you send some help?
Kind Regards,
