Much better than it seems. Compare with the joke Holy Water.
Yeah, I've seen a few Youtubers rate this card relatively low and I think they're missing the mark. I mean, I don't think it's amazing by any stretch but I do think it has potential.
The way I choose to view this card is as a 6 mana Mind Control on minions with 4 health or less. When you start to look at it that way, in my mind it starts to become clearer as to why this is a good card. In some instances, it can actually be better than Mind Control if you can target a high health minion that's been whittled down to 4 heath, giving you a full health version in return (where Mind Control you would be stuck with the injured original).
Now I realize this isn't a perfect comparison. Initiation does not nullify Reborn or Deathrattle mechanics from triggering for your opponent where Mind Control would, and I acknowledge that. There's also some other niche differences (Siamat wouldn't keep Rush or Windfury for example) but the potential upside is undeniable. This is one of those cards that can provide such an unquestionable swing in power that it's hard to write off as 'unplayable' as I've seen some reviewers comment. I mean, when you (effectively) steal your opponent's injured King Krush for 6 mana, then throw Apotheosis on it, they're gonna be hating life.
I think this is a 3+ star card with potential. I don't think it makes it's way into too many decks as one of the 30 cards, but you get this sucker off of Renew and I promise you there will be games it'll make you reconsider if it merits a spot, because it'll just be that clutch.
Conditional Firelands Portal, better than Holy Water but that's not saying much.....
this card is better than holy water
Holy Water but without the delay of having to play it
like what, for whomever the minion belonged to or always yourself?
