Initial Crafting Advice For Legendary Cards In The Boomsday Project
Now that we've had a few days of playing with the new Legendary cards brought to us by Boom Labs in The Boomsday Project, we've got some initial rankings to share on how well they're doing. You can use the information here to help decide whether or not you want to craft any of the new legendary cards, though we do think it's still smart to wait a couple of weeks from an expansion launch before making any big decisions.
Below you'll find our highlights of each tier, along with a description of what the different tiers mean. Full data can be found in our Hearthstone Legendary Cards Tier List & Crafting Guide thread found over on the card discussion forums. Updates will be made to that thread as things evolve.
It should also be noted we've got a special section just for ranking cards in Wild.
Tier 1 - Staples
We're not confident in giving any cards the Tier 1 badge yet because these are considered as must-have cards. Anything in this bracket is typically used in either a certain archetype that is crushing everything else or is used across a variety of high-level decks. Great examples of cards in this tier from Witchwood were Baku the Mooneater and Genn Greymane which were used in many different classes to great success.
As the meta is still evolving heavily, anything we suggest here could become outdated quickly. We've got a good idea what belongs here after a couple of weeks.
Tier 2 - Tech
These are usually cards that although not necessarily must-crafts, they're going to help you out with a particular archetype that is seeing success.
Tier 3 - Playable
We're seeing these cards working in decks and although they may not be at the absolute top right now, it could go both ways. At the very least they're usually fun additions to the game.
Tier 4 - Niche
If you've got them, it may be worth hanging onto because they're at least seeing some play. Disenchanting these cards may result in regret down the line.
Tier 5 - Trash
Dust em! It's really that easy.

How can your opinion of Celestia be anything other than "worst legendary in the set"?
My opinion is a bit different. "It's probably the worst legendary of the year of raven" .
nah tbh I think Dustfallen Aviana and Dr. Morrigan are a bit worse. Only a bit mind
Dust Cloning Gallery but keep Celestia LOL
Celestia had a very good winrate right at the release, and has a niche vs decks without earlygame minions. She could be demoted, though, as her winrate dropped quickly.
Zerek is just a very bad card that does not fit in any half decent deck.
Really have you been playing Demonology Lab yet?
Harbinger was my golden legendary from pre-ordering and one golden from pack opening: cloning gallery. If i dust them, my next legendary from opening packs will be one of this 2, so thanks, no.
My golden legendary from the 80 pack purchase was Zerek. I then opened a golden Zerek cloning gallery. Nice right?
I wouldn't call Zerek Trash, atleast not worse than Celestia
How is tier 2 named tech? Do you even know what tech means???
It is a name that goes all the way back to the first version of the list by flood. The tier mainly contains optional cards (tech?) in Tier 1 decks and staple cards in (tech?) tier 2 decks.
It is named tech as it is understandable, and it is hard to find another name. Runner ups? No description? Almost staples?
I always thought tech meant a counter play of some kind. A Harrison or a Loatheb, for example.
Yes, but it doesn't make sense to reserve a whole tier just for those cards. You can also "tech" your deck or deck lineup for certain matchups, so I think a broader use can be defended.
Fair enough.
Pretty sure you should switch cards between t4 and t5.
I want to craft the paladin and Druid spell, as well as Mecha Thun and a handful of classic epics i STILL don’t have like 2x Brawls. Hopefully we’ll get a complete list in a week or so.
Why is Zerek so low? He’s AT LEAST better than Harbinger.
I'm not sure if I should feel bad for priest this season as one of my favorite classes, or glad because I don't have cards for him anyway...
The Pocket Galaxy, Kangor's Army, the Zerek package and Morrigan are cards that can be staple in future expansions and still fun today - I wouldn't dust them for the measly 400 dust they give in exchange (and for the fact that they might just pop up in my very next pack)
I think this kind of guide is a great idea but just way to early, and I wouldn't call anything a safe disenchant yet (Though I agree with the cards in tier 5).
I get that most people want to wait until the meta settles to craft a card, but if you've already opened Subject 9 and you're fine with playing wild, he has some insane synergy with Cloaked Huntress. The deck I made for those two cards was pretty meta-breaking and consistently beat odd pally, even shaman and tempo mage and I used it to climb to legend. It's definitely worth trying out if you opened Subject 9 and were disappointed as it totally changed my opinion about him.
