Initial Crafting Advice For Legendary Cards In The Boomsday Project
Now that we've had a few days of playing with the new Legendary cards brought to us by Boom Labs in The Boomsday Project, we've got some initial rankings to share on how well they're doing. You can use the information here to help decide whether or not you want to craft any of the new legendary cards, though we do think it's still smart to wait a couple of weeks from an expansion launch before making any big decisions.
Below you'll find our highlights of each tier, along with a description of what the different tiers mean. Full data can be found in our Hearthstone Legendary Cards Tier List & Crafting Guide thread found over on the card discussion forums. Updates will be made to that thread as things evolve.
It should also be noted we've got a special section just for ranking cards in Wild.
Tier 1 - Staples
We're not confident in giving any cards the Tier 1 badge yet because these are considered as must-have cards. Anything in this bracket is typically used in either a certain archetype that is crushing everything else or is used across a variety of high-level decks. Great examples of cards in this tier from Witchwood were Baku the Mooneater and Genn Greymane which were used in many different classes to great success.
As the meta is still evolving heavily, anything we suggest here could become outdated quickly. We've got a good idea what belongs here after a couple of weeks.
Tier 2 - Tech
These are usually cards that although not necessarily must-crafts, they're going to help you out with a particular archetype that is seeing success.
Tier 3 - Playable
We're seeing these cards working in decks and although they may not be at the absolute top right now, it could go both ways. At the very least they're usually fun additions to the game.
Tier 4 - Niche
If you've got them, it may be worth hanging onto because they're at least seeing some play. Disenchanting these cards may result in regret down the line.
Tier 5 - Trash
Dust em! It's really that easy.

Check out a breakdown of all the cards in our Legendary Tier List and Crafting Guide. We'll be updating it throughout the expansion, you can also find it in our site navigation under the cards category.
Don't dust anything for at least 3-4 weeks after launch, unless you must get your hands on a legendary ya fancy--which is def understandable this early. In standard, some legendary I've had most success with so far, Flobbidinous Floop; Stargazer Luna; Electra Stormsurge; The Soularium; Dr. Boom, Mad Genius; Mecha'thun; Zilliax. Easy BDP crafts from that list are Floop, Electra, Soularium, Boom, and Zil. For wild, you could use any of the above legendary in competitive decks, except maybe Zilliax (idk if he's found a proper home in a wild mech deck just yet). Wild BDP meta is still pure chaos btw.
If this is your first expansion, I suggest crafting these legendaries: Whizbang the Wonderful, Genn Greymane, Baku the Mooneater, Lich King, Leeroy Jenkins, or your favorite class Death Knight (just not Thrall Deathseer, bcuz you don't have the cards in wild to support it). If there's anything you take away from this post, let it be this: exercise patience with your dust and listen to your better judgement. A card that is powerful today might not be powerful tomw or Day 7 or Day 36 of the expansion. GL
I agree. Celestia is Trash Tier. Disenchant immediately. She's not going to see play. If she changed every time your opponent summoned a minion then it may be okay. It'd be far better as it'd force your opponent to focus on play order. But since it only changes the first time a minion is summoned, it's horrible.
Really? Disenchant Cloning Gallery? I feel if Deathrattle Priest or Big Priest or Resurrect Priest takes off then Cloning Gallery is going to be essential.
My first 3 legendaries: You rated all 3 of them as trash.

His rating is completely wrong doesn't mean anything, do not take this article as advice, the only tash tier here is the article itself
I disenchated Celestia. If she becomes a tier 1 card I'll delete Hearthstone
Same. I dusted it first day. I haven't even seen the card. What niche deck are they referring to? Both the Priest cards are at least fun and gimmicky to play around with.
Due to popular demand. Harbringer Celestia has been moved to tier 5, and Zerek's Cloning Gallery has been moved to tier 4 on the guide.
I severely recommend putting your feedback on potential changes in the guide thread, as despite our best efforts, our opinions aren't always what is going to be correct in the eyes of the entirety of the community.
Dr Morrigan and the Priest Legendaries are bad right now, but they definitely have some potential. Celestia is just an awful card that's never gonna be played unless they print some broken card that works only with her. I don't get how anyone could consider her better, let alone someone writing for one of the bigger Hearthstone sites.
One thing that jumps out at you when you look at the mana cost compared to the minions attack/health is these are underwhelming cards with a potential upside. Is it worth playing three different mechs on turn 5 to get a 6/7? Or are you better off playing a neutral common than just comes with 5/5 stats? Without the multiplying effect of magnetic, some of those cards are dead in the water. And one more thing ... Bring Sylvanas and Ragnaros back to standard and let’s get this party started !
Please note that this article is a sneak-peak at the full list in the forums.
The tierlist thread OP is now updated. If you disagree with how a card there is placed or described, I invite you all to post in the tierlist thread, but please back up your point of view with decklists, statistics or extensive personal experience. There will obviously be several more updates coming up to new and old cards the following weeks, like there were after the releases of K&C and WW.
And guess which Legendaries I got from the free card and the packs? Yup: the three tier 5 ones. The salt is real
Harbinger Celestia: Niche card for players who want a giggling inventor but not have to deal with those pesky annoy-trons.
Luna's Pocket Galaxy is one of the worst cards from this set. It's literally 7 mana do nothing when you have the time to play it and 7 mana lose the game when you don't. Maybe something will come out of it some day, but until mage has better abilities to reshuffle things into their decks this card is pure trash. This is why we shouldn't trust stats so early on. I am sure it is mage decks that are winning but the problem is, those mage decks are only running it to judge how good it is.
I played a pocketgalaxy deck and the problem isnt 7 mana do nothing really, Its how 9 mana discount is useless if you are putting them on board 1 at a time if you dont combo them with luna.
I crafted Zilliaxday #1. Sure, it's still to soon, but so far I'm really enjoying it, and it has turned games for me (and against me as well). I hardly ever play it by itself, because sticky mechs are pretty easy to come by.
If the first few days of WW, Baku the Mooneater and Genn Greymane were hardly played, except odd Paladin that still survives to this day with hardly any changes. it took them a while to catch on, so saying they're must-crafts in hindsight is really not saying much.
And seriously, Harbinger Celestia?
Whoever wrote this should be fired
So many mistakes I will not even bother to point out.
Disgusting article
Hey, calm down there. i can agree that this article have some mistakes and it came a bit too soon, but that is nothing to get angry about. The meta didn't settle down, and we are yet to see new decks. the article utilized the data from the early days of the expansion, the day where a lot of theorycraft decks where being played. The guy who made this article don't deserve this amount of hate, he did his job, passing this data to the players in the form of a tier list.
my only complain is that this article came too soon, making cards that we known are bad (looking at you Harbinger Celestia ) get a bigger score than what it deserves and picking legendaries that need more playtesting and throwing them at the garbage.
I'm not a fan of the article or rather what I feel are opinions in it(As apparent in my previous posts), but I wouldn't call it disgusting or suggest that someone should be fired for it. Amazed at how many up votes were provided on this comment.
That is thoroughly unnecessary and extremely rude. You have a right to your opinion regarding the articles mistakes, but such remarks are neither appreciated or warranted.
