Initial Crafting Advice For Legendary Cards In The Boomsday Project
Now that we've had a few days of playing with the new Legendary cards brought to us by Boom Labs in The Boomsday Project, we've got some initial rankings to share on how well they're doing. You can use the information here to help decide whether or not you want to craft any of the new legendary cards, though we do think it's still smart to wait a couple of weeks from an expansion launch before making any big decisions.
Below you'll find our highlights of each tier, along with a description of what the different tiers mean. Full data can be found in our Hearthstone Legendary Cards Tier List & Crafting Guide thread found over on the card discussion forums. Updates will be made to that thread as things evolve.
It should also be noted we've got a special section just for ranking cards in Wild.
Tier 1 - Staples
We're not confident in giving any cards the Tier 1 badge yet because these are considered as must-have cards. Anything in this bracket is typically used in either a certain archetype that is crushing everything else or is used across a variety of high-level decks. Great examples of cards in this tier from Witchwood were Baku the Mooneater and Genn Greymane which were used in many different classes to great success.
As the meta is still evolving heavily, anything we suggest here could become outdated quickly. We've got a good idea what belongs here after a couple of weeks.
Tier 2 - Tech
These are usually cards that although not necessarily must-crafts, they're going to help you out with a particular archetype that is seeing success.
Tier 3 - Playable
We're seeing these cards working in decks and although they may not be at the absolute top right now, it could go both ways. At the very least they're usually fun additions to the game.
Tier 4 - Niche
If you've got them, it may be worth hanging onto because they're at least seeing some play. Disenchanting these cards may result in regret down the line.
Tier 5 - Trash
Dust em! It's really that easy.

Should i craft whizbang?
I'd say it's one of the best cards to craft for a new player, because it opens the possibility of playing against experienced players and learn from them.
It's also the cheapest way possible for competitive deck building.
I've crafted a golden one for fun. So now I've got 18 golden decks and 9 golden heroes and in the next expansion I'll get to play around with the new decks from day one for free!
I started another account a few days ago and happened to open Whiz in my second pack. So now I can play ladder since day one and I play casual with my real cards.
The new Dr boom card is INSANE in wild decks. I've currently been using him in a control warrior from rank 12 - 4 with a 68.8% winrate.
I do the opposite. The rate of opening any legendary is too low. I prefer gather 1600 dust (and crap legendary are useful for that) and craft any one I want.
:)
1600 is for golden only. If you dust another legendary you open a slot for another bad legendary.
Never dust legends until you do not buy any more packs. This will pay very well in the long run as you can't get the same card twice and you get all the dust from bad ones - just one expansion later, which doesn't matter after 3, because you will have saved on doubles.
I also do not dust golden copies of other cards before they move to wild, because they are nice to look at. I do make exceptions for really really bad cards and very lousy animations. Also I don't dust very good golden cards.
Personally, I play around with cards a bit and then leave them laying around to make sure to not open a 2nd copy. Dust if desperate only.
Im have zerek dust him?
Never ever you dust a legendary, it's just a really really bad trade, a legendary for 400 ? you are the loser here no matter what, zerek could be really good in the future i tried him this week he is not that bad, kinda sticky but needs more support, i say dont dust him, it's really not worth the 400 dust
Very bad advice. Dust only legends from a previous expansion, not as long as you still open packs! I wrote more about this a few posts above yours.
Wait, how can Harbinger Celestia be that high up the list?
she is kinda like a big minion lockdown for some decks
She had a very good winrate right after the release, probably because people experimented with slow decks or people did not know how to deal with her. It was a fluke, though, and she is demoted to tier 5 in the thread, with a note that she might be useful against decks that do not run small minions.
Don’t dust the crap legendaries.. with the no duplicate rule, you have a better chance of opening a playable legendary in your packs
We realize that many of you agree that this article isn't as accurate as you had hoped. I can assure you we are retesting internally to make sure that these Legendaries fall into a better place.
Jesus christ, stop crying about the article. It's just an opinion piece and one that admits it's early and probably wrong.
Celestia????? Really????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I really, REALLY hope no one is gonna follow the advice from this, otherwise we'll have a bunch of angry people coming back and being salty af.
This article feels rushed and poorly executed.
Who peed in your cheerios?
I rate this 1 STAR!!
Seriously. I've already seen some outstanding decks with Zerek's Cloning Gallery, one combo deck where you summon Prophet Velen,Malygos and other spell related minions to OTK your opponent, and another where you use Spiritsinger Umbra and Deathrattle minions to gain a ton of value in one turn/complete your quest. The card is by no means Tier 5 trash and this feels like it was written by someone who is stuck at Rank 20 with a janky Priest deck.
100% Agreed
