New Hunter Card Reveal - Toxmonger
A new card has been revealed by Igxingsu. We aren't 100% sure on the translation but have a decent amount of confidence.

To be absolutely honest, I'm too stuck in using it in this Tavern Brawl... lmao
Oops wrong topic
Is this trying to promote some sort of combo or handhunter?
I mean the only way to guarentee poisonous minions is to play Toxmonger and then 1 mana minions on same turn which in itself isn't a strong play. Would just be better to do the normal beast combos like Crackling Razormaw or Houndmaster or Fungalmancer.
If there is any 1 cost rush echo minions then this is fine
We have the boar
Unplayable card.
Man they really want to revive Quest Hunter, or should I rather say make it happen once and for all. This could be really interesting.
With Ravencaller + Tol'vir Warden you no longer have to pollute your deck with 15 one drops. 2 Fire Fly + ravencaller already make for 8 1 drops.
And with this you can add Stonetusk Boar which becomes 1 mana "destroys a minion if there isnt a taunt or divine shield in the way", and 2 additional 1 drops for the quest and the tolvir.
I'd add 2 more 1 drops for consistency like Raptor Hatchling or Jeweled Macaw and this you only have a total of 6 one drops in your deck + 6 cards mentioned above + the quest. It lets you 17 remaining slots to put anything you want to improve curve, defensive tools, card draw.
With a little bit of luck and maybe another fitting card from this expansion, i would dare to say Quest Hunt could become a legitimate deck.
It does seem like they’re pushing the Quest Hunter archetype, but the problem (for me, at least) with it was never activating the quest, it was that the quest payoff wasn’t worth it. You couldn’t pull the raptors reliably enough and half of your deck was focused on completing the quest and was thus underpowered. Death Knight Rexxar helped a lot but was still inconsistent and slow as a win condition.
This card makes your one-drops more powerful, which is great, but I don’t think it will help you finish your opponent off fast enough.
Agreed. That tends to be the problem with the quests that never worked, it wasn't in completing the quests, it was that the payoff just isn't worth it.
That's why I was playing this deck with Hemet, Jungle Hunter, to clean the junk of your deck before playing Queen Carnassa
You're right that Toxmonger and Ravencaller and Tol'vir Warden might have finally provided enough synergy to making completing The Marsh Queen feasible without getting too worn out in the early game. However, the reward for completion isn't good enough. Maybe you can use Houndmaster Shaw and the cycling of Carnassa's Brood to clear your opponent's board, but against slower decks or decks with significant AOE (like ControlLock), you'll still lose a lot. Heck, even against a lot of aggro decks you'll be too low on health by the mid game to fight back when you should be turning the game around.
Consider Quest Warlock. Some support was added with Kobolds for Quest Warlock, and it's now much easier to finish the quest on curve, but a bunch of 3/2 minions just aren't that good, and the reward doesn't make the deck a viable form of Warlock. Sure, Queen Carnassa is a lot more tempo than the Netherportal you get from QuestLock, but at the end of the day, the problem is that 3/2 minions aren't that good.
I agree with you all guys, the quest reward is not good enough in its own because 2 health dies to anything. HOWEVER, they provide a lot of card draw coupled with Cult Master, or provides with great board control tools now with Houndmaster Shaw or Toxmonger (or even both together in unrealistic ideal cases ^^, even though only 2 one drops more for 10 mana gives you 2 destroy effet + minions he absolutely needs to remove). Deathstalker Rexxar is well known for providing infinite huge value, albeit slow but can even (at the moment we're talking) easily outstand a control lock or priest (i know what i'm saying, i made legend with control lock this season). And now you have more deck slots for defensive tools for when Deathstalker Rexxar comes. Moreover, even if the broods don't make any good tempo in late game due to the ease of removing a 2 health board in late game, they still represent a ton of value, if you play like 2 every turn. My thought is mainly mana left fillers when playing a zombeast.
Eventually, I think we need to rethink completely how to make this archetype. I don't see a zoo Quest Hunter in the way but a slow and defensive Quest Hunter, relying on Queen Carnassa coupled with Deathstalker Rexxar to outvalue any opponent in late game.
If you are interested I made a theorycraft deck illustrating my thoughts i'd be happy you guys checked it out :) :
interesting, very powerful removal tool. Still can't see quest hunter being a thing though.
I've never seen a Worgen with green eyes... that's a very cool detail!
At time like this, I wonder if there will be 1 mana Rush minion....if so...
Stonetusk Boar
Did Blizz confirm it works with Elven Archer? Traditionally, the order has been Battlecry THEN any board affects / reactions. My thought has been that this will deal one damage, THEN get poisonous.
As far as I can tell from the wording, since it says "Whenever", it should work.
I'd be interested, if it only works with the BASIC cost, or the CURRENT cost of a card in your hand...
I know it's just theory, but say you could reduce the cost of a Bloating Bat to 1 (using Emperor Thaurissan), its deathrattle would clear the enemy board.
Anyone valid info on the meaning of "cost" in this case?
